Well, an economist the politics of Climate Change are fascinating to me because as an economist, i know that many the Solutions Just dont add up. And for example, the idea that we have all Battery Powered electric vehicles by 2035 and that auto are committing themselves not to produce the internal Combustion Engine at a time when only 5 of americans are these vehicles is very surprising to me as an economist. Also the idea that certain vehicles and, certain forms of technology are free because they run on batteries when these have to be produced somewhere through electricity. Thats also very surprising. Right now, with the Technology Available and the Technology Insight in the future, these policy objectives just do not add up. In addition, we have many, many millions of people who are below the poverty line in asia, in africa, in latin america, who can only be given the advantages of western electricity, western water, or through conventional fuels. There is no way that solar and wind will be able to lift these individuals up to the standards that we have in the west and. If youve ever lived without Running Water, if youve ever lived without electricity, you know that the avella of electricity and Running Water is just central to health, to the safety of your family, to human flourishing, to potential development. So unless we move to situation where we have massive investment in Nuclear Energy, which is a dense emission free energy, were not going to be able to accomplish the goals of zero emissions. But of battery vehicles and other environmental measures are also against Nuclear Energy. So this is not as much economics question as a political and thats why we are so glad to have these two authors with us today. And in addition theyre going to be able to take your questions. So were going to open with 10 minutes from each of them, discuss their book. Then were going to have a discussion. Its titled the truth about energy, Global Warming and Climate Change. I put there the truth for very particular reasons. The subtitle is exposing lies in age of disinformation. Now, in the short introduction, im just going to touch on some of the points of the book. Number one, i go through the history of how this movement developed beginning world war two, and there were various like harrison brown, who was very eminent scientist, who was writing in the fifties about scarcity, running out of things. And he was basically concerned were too many people. Hes one of the first to advocate birth control, to reduce people, even government imposition of limits on children who dramatically wanted reduce the worlds population. And that was followed by people like paul ehrlich, who wrote the population bomb in 1968, i believe. And it was again, a bestselling book. Many people were going to run out of the earths resources. It was malthusian. This idea got coopted when john holdren, who is obamas science, joined with together with erlich and they began moving it in a climate direction. Holder was, a scientist. They decided if could demonize something about the climate, get an existential were all going to die unless we do, were all going to die. If theres too many people. Then the idea was that they demonize Carbon Dioxide and say its going to cause changes in the climate. Since hydrocarbon fuels Carbon Dioxide. You get rid of hydrocarbon fuels and that would destroy capitalism. So suddenly the movement became neomarxist movement, and it still retained the deep aspect to it. Now, when you get range here and you see Green New Deal, its become fully neomarxist and goal to eliminate capitalism and to take on the entire woke agenda has become part of the climate movement. Now the second part of my book shows that the science does not support the idea that hydrocarbon fuels are detrimental for a number of reasons. Hydro, the Carbon Dioxide is a trace molecule. 04 percent of the atmosphere water vapor is about 70 of all greenhouse gases, far more potent than Carbon Dioxide. We had much more Carbon Dioxide in the early earth and its only now its gone several thousand parts per million in the atmosphere down beginning of Industrial Age, 200 parts per million today, about 400 parts per million. Thats doubling, but its very minimal and the energy coefficients of dioxide as a greenhouse gas, that small proportion are not sufficient to produce the change that are being forecast in Climate Change movement to destroy all. Theres a couple of other really important parts of the book im going to try and just hit highlights. I demonstrate that there is no such thing as fossil, no fossil ever made of fuel. No, no living tissue dies and advances to a higher form of energy that would violate the second law of thermodynamics. We die. Were going to decompose. We get buried because were going to smell. They dont line casket. Say this. And matildas going to turn into oil. There happens. We deteriorate. What happens is the during world war two, before world war two, the knew they had a lot of coal. They didnt have oil they decided for their chemistry. The weimer republic actually figured out how to synthesize size oil. They figured out the equate that make hydrocarbon chains combine. And these equations are offered here in the mantle of the earth. The earth exudes hydrocarbon fuels from deep debts. You can see them coming out in the ocean vents, the bottom of the sea, where theres no light and the creatures live on, the hydrocarbons coming out of the center of the earth. The last point i want to make is this changes in the earth when they occur are. So weve had five major extinctions. 80 of earths history, 4. 6 billion years. There was no life the surface of the planet at all. Its all the last 20 of earths history. And that time theres been five major extinctions where virtually everything living died. Theyre all basically cataclysmic events. 65 million years ago, when the dinosaurs disappeared, the dinosaurs had a massive asteroid, the yucatan fractured. It said tsunamis all the way up to north dakota. There was a thousand years of volcanic activity in india through sulfur dioxide in the atmosphere, blocked the sun. That was photosynth was gone. The dinosaurs eight plants and the earth expanded are expanding. Our theory science. Why dinosaurs were too big to exist in a more intense gravitational more gravity. So the idea that were going to extinguish ourselves by using hydrocarbon fuels is ridiculous. The third part of my book deals with the economics, but ill leave that for the discussion because weve already covered that. You cover the economics very well and we will cover it, but i agree entirely. All the these other technologies not Strong Enough to make one point. If you had a battery the size of a flashlight that could get enough solar energy in it to light up a city, you wouldnt have to have programs subsidizing it. Private industry would produce that immediately. The technology of renewable fuels, yes, you can put a solar panel in your house and get some electricity, but they are not scalable. They are not sufficiently robust to handle a sizable population and they Climate Change, Global Warming movement knows it. Harry reid announces then democrat majority leader that they werent going to even put the cap and trade bill to a vote and important to mention, because at that point they failed at their climate agenda and the Obama Administration legislatively. So what the Obama Administration tried to do and was a sort of a forerunner of happened under covid they decided do executive orders they decided to bypass democracy. I actually was talking about the china ification. The idea of one the rule authoritarian rule in china was literally praised by many on the left un climate chief christina forget including tom friedman, the new york saying that they could impose whats necessary in a country without the messiness and hassle of democracy just in. Then, of course, trump came and blew up their whole agenda. But biden came in. And the reason biden was able to do there was a Green New Deal was introduced in Congress Never scheduled for a vote, no hearings, no town halls, no constituent meetings, nothing. Why is that . But the cdc was able to go after renters. So what happened here was the climate people got immediately on and immediately we saw studies. First of all, two parts of this linking covid climate. So we had the Harvard School of medicine you had the journal nature all saying Climate Change is going to lead to too much worse. Covid and viruses like it. So in other, if you didnt support the Green New Deal or the un paris agreement, you were now a grandma killer because this going to create all new virulent forms, covid, and they love that angle. The next thing that happened and this is in fact the International Energy agency this has infected british medical. This is in fact the new england journal medicine. This has infected the journal cell which published anthony fauci. Theyre all basically saying that we need a response to covid the same response at the using response to climate using the template as covid. And so what theyre doing is and this is according to the associated Washington Post from july article, joe biden is set to declare a National Climate emergency. This groups like the center for biological diversity very excited. Theyre already touting 130 new war time president ial powers that biden will have presumably to extend to mayors, governors. We know from the International Energy Agency Report of a few months ago that we know the blueprint for what you could call an energy lockdown. Theyre talking about car free cities, auto even days. Gas stations open. Rotating days. Theyre talking about more thermostat controls we just saw in august in Utility Companies doing it under Energy Emergency in colorado for their residents. Theyre talking about essentially blackouts. Theyre talking about under a Climate Emergency, limiting airline travel. The post just had an article detailing how the as a new report out touting a global tax on airlines. The more you fly and it gets pretty heavy, some flights can be up to almost 200 tax. If youve enough going after business travel. Oddly enough, the same study did not look at banning private travel. It was only commercial jet travel. So its about our freedom of movement. Theyre going after. So to wrap this all up, everything that has upset anyone, i would say thats particularly left of center and many liberals and i a whole chapter devoted to Robert F Kennedy jr who actually said when i interviewed him at the new york city climate march climate deniers, the ceos of these company belong in at the hague with all the other war criminals and and in book i issue a formal forgiveness for Robert F Kennedy jr because of stance against lockdowns mandates and recognizing the essentially the global plan to take away our freedom. Star energy, i guess you could say that they be voted in ways by politicians who were promising. They were never promising to collapse energy. They were promising a green utopia, but theyve collapsed our energy. Our food supply. Theyve gone after meat eating. Theyre after high yield agriculture with, net zero with make no mistake, the netherlands is a target for net zero. Agenda because its the number one meat exporter in europe and their stated goal is to go after meat eating, make it a rare and expensive treat. And this is by the United Nations by the World Economic forum. And then theyve also gone after transportation and classic example is Governor Newsom issued an executive order the California Air Resources Board follows up with unaccountable bureaucratic board with a timetable to ban the gas powered cars. 17 states, including my home state of virginia, have trigger laws that go along with it. Drilling companies arent going to get investors. So where are they to go . Theyve got to go outside the country to get an increase. I can guarantee you that money is going to go to friends of john podesta. So i think that youre seeing in a repeat of the boondoggle on renewable projects and the narrative is were glad hydrocarbon fuels, gasoline more because it will speed the movement to these renewable fuels, wind and solar.
