Doing campaigning. Stephanie i was going to say isnt the president ahead 20, 30 points in the president s home state of massachusetts. We are doing a lecture at boston college. There are a lot of great folks in the bordering states, a lot of californians encouraged tou drive into necessary nevada and folks in massachusetts drive over to New Hampshire to help us. Stephanie this is what its down to, right kal. You can read the stories we all know its about turn out and ground game at this point, right . Thats true. This is a president for whom polls have never been an accurate reflection of much of anything and part that have is when you are talking about blocks of voters who we have expanded the base with, right, a lot of young voters dont get polled they dont call dorm rooms or cell phones or women of color and these are a lot of folks that have been some of our best volunteers, driving the campaign not, you know, not because of the president but because of their own communities and lives and its been really inning spiraling and thats where we are focusing the turn out too. Stephanie i was reading a piece about how the obama team views the final stretch. And i think again their internal polling and what you just said, you know the turn out, a lot of the groupings are feeling under polled, they are feeling emboldened enough to compete in all 90 Battle Grounds, they are feeling good enough about things in all nine of them, roo its . Yeah, we are feeling very good in all of the Battle Ground states. I think the polls will continue to fluctuate, somebody will be three or four points up and down. And we are not really focusing on that. We are focusing on actually getting folks, you know, knowing what their rights are to vote. Knowing where their polling location is. Frankly the get out the vote effort the number one thing that drives people to vote and changes the minds of voters is facetoface voter contact and phone banking. Its not these ads that you see on tv. Its not the talking heads, you know, that come on cable news, it literally is Community Members talking to other Community Members and thats why this is so important. And thats why i think it can be a game changer. Stephanie thats right, we have been talking about that a lot the show. Find out what the requirements are in your state. Help talk to your neighbors friends, help make sure that they are registered, get to the polls, all of that stuffer, right . Yeah. Its true. And its also, you know, i mentioned sort of why we were in massachusetts yesterday its kind of the, you know, there are a lot of our great friends who are in solidly red or blue states we rant constantly on our facebook, but the nice thing about i think the technology that we have on the campaign is that, you know, you go to barack obama. Com you can sign up to make phone calls from your home. If you are in a solidly red state and want to call into a borderline state or Battle Ground state and give us a hand or take a trip. I know for californians and most border state folks we have plans set up you meet pimas passionate as you are everybody an hour of phone banking or a four hour shift of knock on the ground doors is a huge effort. The president was clearly so well versed and made the case for why, you know, as commanderinchief hes done a tremendous job bringing our troops home from iraq and going after bin lad en. Just such a nuanced conversation in contrast with some of what governor ram any was trying to do there. And i think mr. Powell has what i looked about his endorsement it was focusing on National Security which was his bail i wick. He and his wife have an Education Foundation that the president has been really active on education powell talked about that and immigration and the environment and energy as a big reason why and thats are the things that i think nay a days, 13 days before the election, thats the stuff that sometimes gets forgotten. Its what we are thinking about with the environment what will happen to Immigration Reform when congress started dragging its feet and how has the president continued to stand strong and powells endorsement talks about that. And the problem is the democrats have asked john houston to put on the envelope that you needed to pay 65 cents. Well, my wife knows both a lawyer and somebody with an mba who sent it in with regular postage. The post office has agreed to deliver them all but currently you pretty much have to call in youryourself and say hey did my vote get counted. Yourself you have to do it it. They lost the ballot box of course the republicans in many of these states. They are not can quitters, its not going to stop them. Stephanie kind of sore losers, voters in critical swing states are being inundated with messages meant to discourage them from voting we have had listeners call. Pay attention residence in florida, virginia are receiving mysterious calls telling them to vote by phone instead of going to the polls. That would be incorrect. Florida mass mailing of fake letters questioning their citizenship s letter written on fake letterhead. Telling recipients to fill out voter eligibility form with their Social Security information, florida drivers license and addresses. The letters claim the recipient must send the form to the supervisor of election within 15 days or be purged. They are mimicking the actual purge letters that scott tried to send out and was roundly vlad down. Billboards warning that voter fraud is a felony popped up in predominantly africanamerican and latino neighborhoods. Prison sentence for voter fraud. Likely targeting former felons that have a right to vote. Clear channel, we are sitting in a Clear Channel studio. They announced that they would take down the billboards after the sponsor refuse today come forward. The company is donating 10 billboards declare voting is a right, not a crime. Thats good. Nice. Stephanie the judge ruled, pennsylvania we had a call yesterday, chris the judge ruled pennsylvania voters without photo i. D. Could still cast a regular ballot. State sponsored ads have continued to tell residents they must show i. D. They are ads are on radio and it. V. And mailed to seniors via a precipitation trouble program. Billboard targeting spanish speakers continues to misleadingly promote the i. D. Requirement. And we have talked about this a lot.
