To what extent are all three devices alike . Were they all three Pressure Cooker type devices . We dont know. We were initially told the initial device in seaside park was a pipe bomb and also by the Ocean County Prosecutors Office that that device was connected to two other devices in the garbage can that could have gone off and made the blast larger than it was. Were talking about two active crime scenes here in manhattan and chelsea neighborhood connected to a third crime scene from yesterdays blast in seaside park new jersey at 9 30 a. M. That blast went off at 9 35 about, that race was delayed in its start because of long registration lines and it was a 5k charity race for marines, u. S. Marines, thousands of them who traveled from all over the country and taking part in that charity run and the reason why they were not running past that garbage can was because that race started late because of those registration lines. Here in new york city, the crime scene is active and they are continuing to look for Surveillance Video to gather evidence from the residences here. Were told that should last a couple more hours today. While the second device is being looked at in the bronx. The suspects stabbed nine people before an offduty Police Officer shot and killed him about five minutes after the first 911 call came in. Seven men and two women were injured and three remain in the hospital with noncritical injuries. That officer is being hailed as a hero today and saved lives as the attacker lounged at him three times. Not for his actions things would have been worse. I had an opportunity to speak to him a half hour ago and clearly prevented additional injuries and potentially loss of life through his heroic actions. Police wont release the suspects identity. We can tell you nearby minneapolis has been the center of recent terror investigations looking at the large muslim Somali Community a few months ago three men were convicted of terror related charges and the investigation that nine convictions and fed saying isis has done a lot of recruiting in the minneapolis area. That is that there are individuals out there that want to harm and kill us. When you look at the new jersey bombing, i think what tied the new jersey bombing to the new york bombing is the black powder that they found in the pipe bomb or in the pipe bomb in new jersey. What we have are witnesses who say that when a 23rd street bomb went off, they saw a plume of white smoke. And the nexus is with the cell phones, they found the cell phone in new jersey and also found a cell phone at 23rd street and with the Pressure Cooker that was intact on 27th street. So basically, the investigators right now have a lot of evidence, not just the cell phone type, but theyve got the wires and have potential powder and remnants of both bombs and have devices in new jersey that didnt even explode like the Pressure Cooker. You know, best thing that happened in this was to be able to get that 27th street bomb intact. Because there are a lot of forensics that they are going to be able to get perhaps from that intact bomb. Also whats going to be very significant in this, eric, those videos and videos in that area, not so much in new jersey where youre about to see but in the cramped area there in the chelsea area of new york, they are nothing but video cameras and i think thats going to help Law Enforcement significantly. Also something in common with the tsarnaev brothers, from the boston marathon, they had other explosive devices in the car during the chase, throwing them out the back of the car.
