Im harris faulkner, this is the fox report. It is a new week and new details emerging about the fbi investigation. The timeline of when the new messages were discovered, how many were actually found, one source telling fox news thousands of records need to be looked at. The Clinton Campaign is pushing for the release of all of the information and slamming the fbi letter calling it short on facts and long on innuendo. More on trumps response in a moment. But first here is what we do and what we do not know. As senior Law Enforcement official confirms they found the emails on a laptop shared between Anthony Wiener and his wife, a clinton confidant human abedin. Reports of some 650,000 emails on the laptop. It is not clear whether they are the same email Hillary Clinton turned over to the fbi, among them, although sources tell fox it is highly ub likely they are all duplicates. It is not clear if they contained classified information but were told the messages are not related to the wikileaks emails gained through hacking. The political response from donald trump has been swift. He calls the revelations, quote, bigger than watergate. And he has repeatedly slammed Hillary Clinton on the campaign trail over all of this. We have fox Team Coverage, Jennifer Griffin and carl cameron are following the campaigns respectively and starting with catherine herrage to round out the Team Coverage and catherine ive been talking about what is happening on this sunday, add to it some warrants kind of standard operating procedure, and now it is on. Well, that is right, harris. The government source confirms to fox news that the metadata on Anthony Wiener has turned up positive hits for Clinton Emails adding the numbers are, quote, astonishing. With the wall street journal reporting 650,000 emails are in play and that is what led fbi director james comey to reboot the fbi email case. Fox news is told that a subpoena for wieners computer was issued in late sent september and it took a week for the information to be provided. They saw emails from huma abedin which was his estranged wife and they both had access to the laptop. They did a deeper dive on the metadata and that is when the hits allegedly linked to clpt were uncovered. As for the number of 650,000 records, a Government Official did not steer us away from the calculation saying it will take weeks if not months to resolve this issue and asked whether a warrant had been obtained, fox was told that is standard procedure in a case like this, harris. Well we are hearing from some lawmakers on this. What are they saying. Today on the sunday talk shows democrats and republicans state their positions staked out their position is to me, this has to be a substantial vext. I dont see the director opening this case back up 11 days before the election unless it is quite serious. If the director cant clean up this mess and i hope he will try, he should acknowledge he made a serious mistake and underscore again that there is nothing that alters that core conclusion he reached in july. And there is increasing evidence tonight that fbi director comey and his Deputy Andrew mccabe knew about the wiener laptop and email weeks ago. Andrew mccabe, as you recall, is already under scrutiny because his wife was personally recruited by the Virginia Governor a long time clinton confidant and she got 675,000 for her Virginia Senate race and the fbi said it was not a conflict of interest and wiener denied sexting a minor. And so much to unpack but the fact that they knew about this weeks ago, this is cooking along on this sunday. And now some things being confirmed with all of this. I wonder what they were doing in the weeks they knew about this. Do we know. What i could tell you based on our reporting is that there is a certain amount of process that has to unfold if you find evidence in one investigation but it is relevant to another. But if you put that to one side, increasingly were receiving calls from current and former fbi agents who talk about open conflict within the bureau over the july announcement from the fbi director and then now the announcement that hes reopening the case. It is highly unusual to see so many leaks. I would argue strategic leaks in an effort to undermine the fbi leadership, harris. Thank you very much. Surrogates like harry reid on capitol hill who wrote a letter to the fbi director today in which he accused james comey of releasing Sensitive Information with the, quote, clear intent to aid one Political Party over another. Quote, im writing to inform you that my office has determined that these actions may violate the hatch act, which bars fbi officials from using their official authority to influence an election, through your partisan actions, you may have broken the law. We are calling on the fbi, look, now that youve thrown this question letter out and you have to put the details out for the American Public to see instead of doing this kind of big question mark right before the election. Campaign manager robbie muck put out an advertisement today in which he tried to address voters directly. Here is what he said. The more information that has come out, the more overblown this all sees. More than ever we need your help to push back. We have days left to elect hillary and stop donald trump. They are taking their message straight to the voters, harris, they are very concerned with just nine days to go. Im curious as to how long she could actually avoid talking about this it on the campaign trail. That will be interesting to watch. In the meantime, what is she talking about. Well, remember she did talk about it yesterday and the day before when it broke. Here in florida, however, she chose not to talk about it today. Today is the day that democrats call souls to the polls. She was trying to get out the vote, especially among the Africanamerican Community here in florida where polls show her and donald trump in a dead heat. She spoke to a Baptist Church and she visited a soul kitchen. Africanamerican voters have not shown then enthusiasm here that they did in 2012. She did not speak, as we mentioned, about the fbi director, but she did attack donald trump. It is time for him to stop fear mongering, stop distracting from what is really at stake and frankly stop disgracing our democracy. We cant let him get away with this. It is unlikely that they will be able to come up with anything that could match what is going on for the last couple of days because of this. Three days ago, donald trump and mike pence were routinely criticizing the fbi and the department of justice and accusing them of covering up and rigging the system so that Hillary Clinton would never be fuely prosecuted. They are still angry at the department of justice which tried to stop what comey did, but where jim comby is concerned now, he is the Trumps Campaign hero. Harris. It is interesting, you have senator harry reid calling comey a partisan in there and he cant win in all of this, but putting this aside, i was watching donald trump and you are right, the teleprompter, very focused, are you seeing this on the stump more and more from him . I see the crowds and they are used to however he wants to be. But he seems to be more focused. And it really was this announcement by comey that seems to zero him in. Hes been markedly more discipline and recognizing that he cant just bash Hillary Clinton, he also wants to offer up positive notes. And one of the things he talked about today, he wants to be positive and talk about his policies and how he is the change agent and give people a reason to vote for him. Quote, your actions in recent months have demonstrated a disturbing double standard for the treatment of Sensitive Information with what appears to be a clear intent to aid one Political Party over another. Im writing to inform you that my office has determined that these actions may violate the hatch act. Which bars fbi officials from using their official authority to influence an election. Now earlier today, other democrats accused comey of dropping an ambiguity bomb days before the election. But remember, harris, this is the same democrats who just a few months ago were praising his decision to not recommend charges against clinton. Harris. All right. So that is one side. Now republicans. Well they also want director comey to release more information. But as you said, for very different reasons. They hope it will obviously hurt clinton and help their chance of retaining control of the house and senate. But overall most republicans are praising the decision to reopen the investigation. In fact the chairman of the house judiciary commission, bob good lat met with comey yesterday and listen to how he described his actions. I think that director comey, whether you like the decision he made back in july or you like the decision he made now, is acting conscientiously to try to address a very serious national crisis. As for what congressman good lat learned in the briefing, he said very little.
