They dont want to miss this one as they duke it out here in the empire state. Its actually running a little behind schedule. Behind me you see the waiters and waitresses actually setting the table. Im not sure what theyre in for. But our viewers are in for an awful lot because you
will hear trump speak first and then you will hear kasich and then you will hear ted cruz also hear possibly from Governor Martinez who3 hrj being honored here tonight the governor of new mexico. Just to tell you how excited the new yorkers are. Remember, they are in play. It matters for the first time. I spoke with the state g. O. P. s top attorney jeff bealy earlier to find out whats going to happen and why they are so excited. Take a listen. Exciting for new york to be in play. Did you ever think new york would be so important at this stage of the game . Well, obviously, we had hoped so. And back in 2000, new york was really the decisive primary when george bush took on senator mccain and scored a decisive victory. And the day after the New York Primary senator mccain dropped out and bush became the presumptive nominee. So we have not had a really incident gradual primary since that date but we are very excited about this. And as i mentioned, things running behind. You see them giving a mike check to the podium behind me. Perhaps a little bit of what has held it up is, of
course, theui secret Service Protection for a high profile event like this. There are, what we expect to be, thousands of protesters outside. Some of them got into the hallways and mixed with the media here is a little bit of what you can see of what happened in the hallways as we were waiting to go through the secret service security. Check this out. [chanting] [speaking foreign language] leave it to new york to make it messy, big, exciting and all of our viewers are going to hear from the candidates as they weave through this and of course we have coverage as you mentioned out on the streets. We expect that to heat up as things heat up in here, greta . All right, griff, totally random question. How did they decide the order of who is speaking tonight . I dont know how they chose the order of speaking. But were told that the frontrunner, mr. Trump, may . K have had something to do here with renovating this actual hotel. Maybe we will hear that
maybe he decided that was important. But thats pure guessing simply because i dont know. My guess is if it is a trump hotel he built it, you will hear about it. I think thats pretty safe to say. Griff, thank you. Thank you. While the g. O. P. Candidates are inside for the big republican gala, protesters, as we noted, are lining up outside the Grand Hyatt Hotel. Fox news correspondent Rick Leventhal is live in the middle of it all. Rick . Greta, the nypd just closed the sidewalk here at thegoorner of 42nd because a large group of protesters on the move came here with the intent of walking down lexington towards the Side Entrance to the grand hyatt. You see all the officers in the street there. There is actually some protrump protesters across the street there here in the middle of the intersection a lot of nypd, some of them with zip ties ready to arrest people if they try to block traffic. They have created these pens with barricades for the protesters to gather. Across the entrance where you can see dozens more officers. Some of them right there
with the zip ties as i mentioned. They are a tactical team. They have been on the move responding to potential areas of problems out here. Right nowh9÷ things have been very calm. You can see that the main group of protesters up here gathered directly across the street. They say their goal is to disrupt the activities inside. As you heard griffja jenkins mention, some of them actually got. In greta, the big difference between what we are seeing here tonight and what we saw last night in pittsburgh is that last night in pittsburgh, the demonstrators were right in the face of the Trump Supporters as they entered the arena, the Convention Center and came back out again. There were a lot of direct confrontations with Trump Supporters and trump demonstrators. Tonight there was one trump supporter who made his way inside this penn. Our cameraman got some footage of that as there was, in fact, a bit of a confrontation between that one guy and some people who were demonstrating against donald trump. The police came. In they escorted that guy out. Right now what you can see are a lot of officers in front of the grand hyatt
hotel. They are protecting the front entrance there they are making surety guests can get in safely. And then what you also have are now hundreds of demonstrators holding signs. Obviously antitrump signs. Standing with immigrant fascism. The main theme here is to shut down donald trump they say and racist message. They vow to remain here and do what they can to disrupt tonights event, greta. Rick, thank you. And donald trump has his eyes on congress. No, no, no. He is not running for congress. He wants the white house. From congress. So earlier today, members of Donald TrumpsCampaign Team meeting with half a dozen members of congress at the capitol hill club. Now, just a short time ago, one of those members of congress, california representative Duncan Hunter went on the record. Congressman, niles to see you, sir. Great to be with you. So you are a supporter of donald trump, right . Yes. Today is a meeting of six of you . Yes. What did you talk about . We talked about the delegate math which im not really good at but now i
understand it they look like theyre going to be at 1270 or so. Thats according to them. 1270 . 1270 delegates. Thats using their conservative math. We talked about. Who is theirs . The Trump Campaign. The trump and verified by the members that were there. Talking about pennsylvania, new york, california, the big states coming up. And that was it. We said, hey, lets make this more of a regular thing. Where is your operation . Whats going on. We realized he doesnt have much of an operation in any of these states. He wasnt set up. He didnt have a ground game. He didnt have a delegate game. Its just him. I guess thats how it was in the beginning as he was an insurgent and he never really pivoted off of that to get fully into this. Thats where we are right now. They juston got a person in california, i think two or three days ago. Who is at this meeting today . What members of congress . Oh, do you want me to go through them . Yeah. Tom reed from new york. Chris collins from new york. Scott dacharlae. Lou from pennsylvania. Tom marino from pennsylvania. And you. I think thats it. There are a lot of names. I didnt mean to quiz you. Certainly members of congress too. Im lucky i got them all right just now. Would you support to support trump over someone like ted cruz who has been in the senate. We have had to work with ted cruz in congress. What do you mean you have had to work with him. Tried to get deals done between the house and senate and senator cruz has sometimes been the obstacle in getting anything done frankly. What about governor kasich he used to be in congress and prides himself getting things done. And i would vote for cruz and governor kasich, too. I like trump. His priorities are my priorities. Thats what i talk about. Thats what the people in my District Care about. Border security. National security and trade. Thats it. And if he just by the way, if he just does border security, im happy. Just do the one thing, secure the border, you will save america for generations. And in the event he doesnt make the more than

Just released brand new fox news poll. National poll of republican primary voters trump putting some Serious Real Estate between his next closest opponent. Trump gets 45 , senator ted cruz 18 points behind trump at 27 . That lead is 15 points higher than last month. Governor john kasich is close behind senator cruz at 25 . The on the record Political Panel is here. Fortune magazine nina easton and from the hill a. B. Stoddard. Nina, last month, when this poll was done by fox, donald trump was 3 points ahead of ted cruz. He is now 18 in this National Poll. Its really astonishing, greta. So he is not only increased his lead after really bad couple of weeks of selfinflicted wounds, right . We all thought that that would hurt him. It only helped him first of all. Second of all, you are finding that ted cruz is not probably the best repository for the stop trump movement. He is not he is struggling in that particular poll. And what was really interesting to me when you dig down in the numbers is that trump is digging in to that very conservative core that is part of the donald trump base, which is amazing. I mean, this is a guy that doesnt stand up for free trade, that questions americas leadership in the world through organizations like nato, that criticizes the iraq war. These are not very conservative doesnt want to reform entitlements and possibly limit Social Security benefits. This is not a philosophically conservative candidate. Yet, is he picking that up very conservative base that ted cruz was counting on. I had lunch with a friend very liberal and said dont tell anybody but i might vote for trump. I dont think its just sort
of the conservative. Im actually hearing this from liberals. I think its the outsider who can win. I mean, you know, you look at these numbers and Bernie Sanders, its very sweet. He always gets the highest integrity. He always has the best matchup numbers against republicans. Better than hillary. But, he is not going to win. And i thinkee that people look people who are looking for a pure outsider lock at Bernie Sanders and look at donald trump andh they think trump is going to go all the way and Bernie Sanders cant make it to the nomination. What happened to senator ted cruz that it was a 3point margin a month ago and now its what happened . Cratering. The interesting thing kasich rebound to do his benefit and he picked up some market share. Kasich is up 8. We are really getting the message out and people are listening, but they are not we will see what happens in these northeastern states in the primaries to come. Kasich is not really winning at all, ever. So, it looks like it helps him but it really doesnt. It really just helps donald
trump. It hurts ted cruz. Is he really doing an incredible job on the delegate fight. There is a report out in the the Washington Post today about how hard he is working to win on the second ballot and how, you know, hard and truly he is working to blunt trump. But it really looks when you look at the momentum of new york and all these increases that actually is he going to do great in the contests to come and he is not and ted cruz is not going to be able to stop him. Nina, im not counting out governor kasich. The fact he jumped up 8 points in a month and the attention is on the other two. If there is a knockdown, dragout fight kasich could i have no wave predicting. Here is how it would work out that would mean that trump goes to the convention without the magical 1237. That means he started balloting. That means say trump doesnt win on the first ballot, on the second ballot then things start opening up and then there is possibilities for somebody like john kasich. Not paul ryan. I think thats sort of a strange Wishful Thinking on the part of the establishment that somehow they are going to swoop in with somebody like paul
ryan. Thats not going to happen. Somebody who has been in the process, its conceivable. And he also goes to the convention by the way as sort of a kingmaker because he has got delegates. Is he a live actor in that whole dealmaking process that will be going on. Yeah. Make a difference that he is from ohio . I think not because the convei 9mthere so much but because he is the sitting governor of ohio. And its next to florida, the most important state. He is not a former governor. You cant win without ohio. So, in the wild west that is this year, even though he has only won ohio in all the primary contests. He is going in as a live actor in this process saying im going to have some power and anything can happen so why get out . non and apparently is he not getting out. And donald trump has been the frontrunner for most of the period since last july in the republican contest. And so i think its just natural for people to say well, is he in front. think are more important are ones that match up head to head. I think this is now the 56th or 57th National Poll since donald trump entered the race in june of last year. He has been ahead of Hillary Clinton in five. Tied with her in two. And behind her in the rest of them. Thats a pretty startling of balance showing at least in the vast majority of these polls is he is the weakest candidate the republicans could put up. And he is the one person who could probably guarantee that Hillary Clinton becomes the next president if he is the g. O. P. Nominee. All right. And so two part question. One is do you expect him to get 1237 votes prior to the convention and then part two is that if he does get those votes in light of thes r polls and these numbers, county Republican Party rally around with him
