FOXNEWSW On The Record With Greta Van Susteren July 11, 2016 23:00:00

And boxes of roses shared with other patients that day. Good news. Thanks for inviting us into your home tonight. Thats it for this special report, fair, balanced and unafraid. Greta goes on the record right now. I am the law and order candidate. [ applause ] were asking cops to do too much in this country. This killing it, has to stop. We have to come together and end all. This. America in crisis and Many Americans are furious that the Obama Administration seems asleep at the wheel and the president is failing to show strong leadership to help make americans feel safe. In seconds, you are going to hear from the doctors, the police chief and donald trump right here on the record. And, first, an emotional plea from the trauma surgeon demanding change. I stand with the Dallas Police department. I stand with Law Enforcement all over this country. It experience has been very personal for me and a turning point in my life. There was the added dynamic of officers being shot. We routinely care for multiple gunshot victims. But the preceding days of more black men dying at the hands of Police Officers affected me. I think the reasons are obvious. I fit that demographic of individuals. But i abhor what has been done to these officers and aggrieve with their families. I understand the anger and the frustration and distrust of Law Enforcement, but they are not the problem. The problem is the lack of open discussions about the impact of Race Relations in this country. And i think about it every day that im able to save those cops when they came here that night. It weighed on my mind constantly. This killing, it has to stop. Black men dying and being forgotten, people retaliating against the people that are sworn to defend us, we have to come together and end all this. I think the chief said it best this morning. Were hurting. Were all hurting. I think this is rocked some guys to their core who i thought were unshakeable. To the guys sitting next to me here, no words can describe how i feel about them, this place, what it was like that night. I came here as soon as i wrapped things up on the scene. I came straight here to make sure that my partners and friends were okay. And i found anything but when i got here. And i think one of the things like the Police Department, the Trauma Center here is a family. And we look after each other and take care of one another. And we are never better than when we are challenged together. And i cant ever imagine facing something worse than this, again. But if we have to, i will be very glad to have the men and women of this the best Trauma Center in the country to stand with me. And donald trump had a lot to say today. Today he stated his case to, quote make america safe again. We must maintain law and order at the highest level, or we will cease to have a country. 100 percent we will cease to have a country. I am the law and order candidate. [ applause ] Hillary Clinton, on the other hand, is weak, ineffective, pandering, and, as proven by her recent email scandal, which was an embarrassment not only to her, but to the entire nation as a whole, she is either a liar, or grossly incompetent, one or the other. Very simple. Personally, its probably both. Not only am i the law and order candidate, but im also the candidate of compassion, believe it. The candidate of compassion. But you cant have true compassion without providing safety for the citizens of our country. Every kid in america should be able to securely walk the streets in their own neighborhood without harm. Everyone will be protected equally and treated justly without prejudice. We will be tough. We will be smart. We will be fair, and we will protect all americans. [cheers and applause] be without safety, we have nothing. Its the job of the next president to make america safe again for everyone. Everyone. [ applause ] and there are new chaws tonight as on the record digs into the investigation of this multiple cop killer. Tonight, the letters written in blood by this coldblooded killer. Our detectives are continuing to download body camera footage from the officers at the scene. There is over 170 hours of body camera video to download. And that is ongoing. Detectives are also collecting all dash cam video. Thats the videoed mounted on the squad cars that also recorded some of the incident. So the detectives will be reviewing all videos from surrounding businesses as well and thats also countless hours of video. Our plans are to date and time stamp the entire incident with all video footage available so that we can see from the beginning as much as we can realtime action as it happened that evening. The total number of officers who used force against the suspect to 13. 13 used force against the suspect. Of that 13, 11 officers used their firearms and two officers used an explosive device against the suspect. The Dallas Policedepartment, working with the federal bureau of investigations were working also with our Law Enforcement partners in the area to determine the meaning of the initials r. B. That were adescribed on the walls there in two locations inside. There is much more developing at this hour. Fox news Rick Leventhal is in dallas. Rick, whats the latest . Greta, were outside city hall tonight where the city is preparing for a caneld light vigil. The dallas strong cagetedz light vigil begin two hours from now. Chief darryl brown will be here with city leaders and other officers who will speak on behalf of those five officers killed last thursday night. Chief brown revealed a lot more information about what investigators have learned since those thursday night shootings but also about how much more work is left to be done. You heard him talking about all that video they have to go through to create a video time lynn of the events last thursday night. Also reviewing 300 interviews that they did with witnesses to determine who, if any, of them need to be interviewed. They also revealed some at the scene never gave statements. They are also ck track to do down to give a statement. Casualty county higher than first told. Nine were wound, throw from the traps sit Police Department and two officers from the dallas which the Community College Police Department. Also it turns out that the gunman Micah Johnson was not in the parking garage when police ended his life using that robot armed with c 4 explosives. He was on the second ploor of the nearby College Building and had been wounded writing on the wall in his own blood as you heard the initials r. B. Which authorities are still trying to determine what that means. We also learned a couple students were hiding out in that building all night long. They stayed there overnight because they were too scared to leave. The Dallas Police department is getting help on the ground from Texas State Police been here since friday and fbi brought in 150 agents and specialists including 70 members of the special Response Team to help document and process that extensive crime scene. Tomorrow as you probably know president obama will be here along with Vice President biden to deliver remarks at a Interfaith Memorial Service in dallas. Those five funerals are still being planned for later this welcome. There will be at least two of them on wednesday, greta. President obama is being slammed by his critics. Some are not happy to his Dallas Police ambush. The on the record Political Panel is here from the Washington Examiner Susan Ferrechio and tracy. There appears to be a lot of distrust between police and minority communities. To what extent it fair to lay this at the president s feet for not showing more leadership or putting the lid on this . He is getting criticism from the right and the left. You have joe walsh tweeting about race war and blaming obama for rhetoric. He keeps disciplining how africanamericans are feeling. They want him to do something. At the same time, what can he do . He is the president . What is the question. Ben carson lit into him accusing him of getting political . Is he political in his response and if so what could he be doing . Over the years a as president he weighed into professional controversies it started with professor harvard university. The beer summit in the backyard. He showed a willingness. I think we should add at that time this is early in his administration he said the cop acted stupidly which is drawing a line in the stand and i think he said he didnt have all the fact but still drew a line in the sand. He showed a willingness to weighed wade into these things and stirred the bovment he has in recent incident said unifying things. I think far more unifying than he has about other shootings. He said we should no more blame this on race than we should have in the charleston shooting. I thought that was the kind of statement that a president should make so that people arent taking sides and retreating to traditional camps on their. I think tomorrow we are going to hear the president sound more unifying than we have so far. I think he is starting to see that he needs to really make an effort to bring the sides together. I dont think we have seen it quite to that effect until now. Well, wasnt South Carolina about race . A white guy went a white man went in there and executed all those people. Wasnt that about race then if you have an officer shooting at black Police Officers . In the eight years he has been president , i think most people would say things have gotten worse on that issue the question is to what extent is it his responsibility and insparing to show leadership and inspiring to put a lid on it . To him its very personal. He has talked about himself getting stopped by police before he had a motorcade. That doesnt say anything about the 99. 9 of police who arent stopping him. Hours before the shooting happened, when he was comforting america for the shootings in louisiana and minnesota, he said just because people say black lives matter doesnt mean blue lives dont matter just a few hours before. After he cited a bunch of statistics talking about the Racial Disparities in arrests and. But he also points out that he thinks that there is a case to be made that some of these arent fair. The argument does he stir the pot on this a little bit . He does. The boy who made the clock. Nice clock. Did he have to post commentary about that . His decision to jump in on certain issues, i think, provides fodder for the people who have critical. Rather than inspiring to solve, is he stirring the pot essentially. Yeah. Thats the view of some. Yeah. Anyway, both of you dont go away. The parents of the dallas killer are now talking. In an interview with the blaze, Micah Johnsons mother and father say they were blind sided by their sons vicious attacks. I dont know what to say to anybody to make anything better. I didnt see it coming. He was a good son. He was a good son. I love my sony heart. I hate what he did. On the records tim williams pounded the pavement to investigate who is this killer . Were here in front of the home of Micah Johnson. Im going to go and knock on the door to see if his mother has any comments, whatever, that she would like to say to me concerning whats taken place. [doorbell] im ted williams with fox news. I wanted to know did you all have any kind of comment. Step off my property. Get away. Im calling the police now. You dont have any comments . Leave and dont come back. That was the mood in the neighborhood Micah Johnson. We went door to door to find people who might have known the killer. Are you Micah Johnsons sister . Are you his sister . Neighbors will not come and they will not talk about who Micah Johnson is. We know the killer, Micah Johnson was a loner. Honorably discharged from the military, but only after allegations of sexual harassment. On social media, he liked the facebook pages of black nationalist groups. In the neighborhood, he loaded up his house with bombmaking teerlgs. Used his pack yard to practice military tactics and apparently didnt talk much to his neighbors. His t. Seems as though he lived in this neighborhood for a while, but not that many people knew him. But in touring the neighborhood, one thing that caught me off guard is how such a normal place in middle of america, mystic, texas could produce such a killer. This would be, when you look around, the last place that you would believe that there would be a killer among themselves. And the mystery continues. Indeed it does. Ted, what did you learn on the ground . I mean, what was your reflection after being down there . You know, you could tell that there is a broken city as a result of what has taken place. And being in mystic, texas, where Micah Johnson went to one of the high schools there, you can see that its a middle class neighborhood and those folk in that neighborhood are also hurting. But he drove to dallas. Dallas is a little bit of a distance . About a 2 a minute drive. Why did he go to dallas to kill cons. Not just to kill cops. He want to do kill white people and kill white cops. Just a very sick mind. But, greta, while being there on the scene, and knocking on Micah Johnsons parents door, Law Enforcement came up and they were there to protected that home. That said a lot about the professionalism of the Law Enforcement officers in that venue. Indeed, ted, thank you. My pleasure. This is a fox news alert. Two Court Bailiffs murdered inside a michigan courthouse. An inmate breaking loose grabbing a nearby sheriff deputys gun and opening fire. That deputy was shot and killed by police. Fox reporter is live from berrien, michigan. Whats the latest . Well, greta. What we can tell you is that police are still trying to determine exactly how this inmate was able to disarm an officer. Then he broke loose into the hallway where he was also able to hit a civilian in the shoulder. That person is expected to recover. Then the suspect was shot by some of the responding officers who were here very quickly within a matter of minutes after the calls went out that there was some sort of scuffle that was taking place inside of the courthouse here on the third floor. That is what we know at this point. As far as further details about that inmate, we are still awaiting another press conference that is supposed to takes place at 9 00 east coast time.
