FOXNEWSW On The Record With Greta Van Susteren July 12, 2016

Accept that recommendation. So did you ultimately make that decision or did director comey . Well, director comey was part of the team. Who all people are told that these documents were not a crime to carelessly deal with . Are these documents, documents that could be easily made available to the public or are they too sensitive to be made to the public today . Congressman, i would you may take the appropriate steps in terms of reviewing anything, and you may make requests for that and we will work to accommodate you with respect to that. Is it legal or illegal to provide false testimony under oath . There are a number of statutes that cover that. Both of the federal and state level there are a number of ways in which that could be found. There is a difference between prosecuting something and whether its legal or illegal. You know, these questions are pretty simple. We got millions of people are security clearance. How are they supposed to go through the gyrations that you have laid out in order to make a simple determination . Congressman, if we had a specific fact situation, a fact pattern, that could be reviewed. And your refusal to answer questions regarding one of the most important investigations of someone who seeks to serve in the highest office in this land is an abdication of your responsibility. One of the congressman grilling the attorney general Loretta Lynch Jason Chaffetz is here to go on the record. Good evening, greta. Did you get your answers. No. These are simple questions. Is it legal or illegal to share classified information with somebody without the security clearance . She couldnt say yes or no. Come on, anybody. She could have. Why didnt she . She is playing this political game. I think she is being obstructionist. Its the theater of the absurd. And i think the the American People are fed up with it. Whats sort of interesting is she said she didnt make the decision on the email investigation. I thought to myself why do we need an attorney general if the attorney general is not going to do her job. It was stunning to say she didnt make the decision. She wouldnt even own up to that. She is the attorney general. She put it all on i dont get it. How did she explain the meeting on the tarmac with bill clinton on her plane . She didnt explain it she didnt give the vital details. Its a public meeting. If the attorney general is meeting somebody, there is actually supposed to be notes from that meeting. She says they didnt talk about anything. Do you think thee thinks she answered any questions . I think she is a professional at filibustering. I think thats why the Obama Administration really likes her. And all you have to do is go back and watch the videos of this and you will see that i mean, i had five minutes. I asked her very basic simple 101 questions. And she didnt answer one of them. So whats next . Well, i think the American Public has got to they get to be the ultimate jury in this. She is not running for office. No. She is a president ial appointee. As one of my colleagues John Radcliff pointed out, she did not recuse herself. She did not step back and say she doesnt want to be part of the clinton administration. To the contrary i think prior she said she wants to be considered and she has got to be the leading candidate at this point the way she is protecting the secretary. Would you like to have eric holder back . The good old days of eric holder and the can done we get from eric holder. He is miles better than Loretta Lynch. Thats how bad it is. She wouldnt answer one question. The thing that is sort of appalling. She knew those were going to be the questions. You would at least come prepared with something. If i had asked her is it legal or illegal to drive 80 Miles Per Hour in a 55 zone, i think she would have she couldnt have answered that because she doesnt want to. She is just a professional at filling up the time. She was looking at her watch. Go back to watch the Youtube Video on my Facebook Page or go to jason in the house and like twitter account and you can link it to just watch. Let people decide for themselves. Its an embarrassment. You know, unfortunately, its a very important job. And, you know, and so it was stunning that she wouldnt answer the question or at least have enough sense knowing that these are the questions that are going to be asked. We talked about classified information. This information is so classified that as a member of congress, the chairman of the Oversight Committee i cant even see it were talking about peoples lives. We are talking about people who will get killed if they see this information, and we talk about it so flippantly and she will say well, its a hypothetical. No, its not. Its peoples lives. I hope the viewers stick around for my offtherecord. I talk about the language extremely careless versus the language that they say is in the statute. Gross negligence. Congressman, thank you. Nice to see you. Yeah. Right now we are awaiting Donald Trumps rally in indiana. We are getting closer to trumps big announcement, his Vice President ial pick. Near the top of that list Lieutenant General Michael Flynn. Flynn is the former director of the brand author of the brand new book field of flight. Just a few moments ago general Michael Flynn went on the record. Thanks for having me. Congratulations on the book the field of fight. Its a great book and has a great message in it thats one of the reasons why we wrote this book is have a powerful message how we can win. Its a fascinating rea few questions to ask you about whats going on in the news. Secretary clinton may be investigating james do you know him. I sure do. Is he a grit guy. Great officer. Great friend and former supreme allied commander of europe. He has some really great credentials as a warrior and as a, you know, as a military guy and big thinker, too. Is he a superb person. Its interesting because we hear trump has his guy, he has general flynn. And hillary has her admirals new. I take as it a compliment. Its funny we are in this mix we have people like myself and jim and many others who care about this country. Would you accept if asked by trump to be his Vice President. At this point in time, greta, im deeply honored to even be in the discussion for a kid from a little town in the small state in the union state of rhode island. To be in this conversation is just incredible honor. Now to your book. Could we beat isis . Yes, we absolutely can. Why arent we . Because we have such a narrowly focused strategy that looks at actually very tactical actions instead of looking at a much greater effort to discredit the ideology, to go after in a much bigger way the initiative that isis and frankly the radical islamist movement. Hasand i take that on in the book quite heavily, this component of the ideology and how we have to discredit this ideology. There are going to be military actions that were going to have to take. But its the ideology that we are going to have to go after. The way i read the book, to sort of cut to the chase a little bit is that you compare president obama to jimmy carter. President carter. Quite a bit. They are the same . I think in some ways there is a disconnect between what we can actually do as a nation and what and the iteddology. I think there is a similarity in some of the id ideological underpinnings. Fighting in this case radical islamism whereas jimmy carter he sort of believed that we could that you know, that communism wasnt a problem until the very end of his tour as president. And then he suddenly realized because of what was going on in iran what was happening, he made some other decisions that he had to make, similar to what president obama is doing with this trickle effect of leaving our troops in afghanistan and also adding numbers in to iraq. You went after him for saying there is a huge blunder. I dont know what the exact term for taking the troops out of iraq. In 2011. What were his generals telling him . Everyone was telling him dont do this. Why did he do it then . It was a political decision that he had made and it was based on his own political ideology and political promise that he gave to his base, i guess, instead of looking at it from the national security, what was best for this country, what was best for our country, and i think it was a huge strategic mistake. I describe and it then describe the consequences of it but also how do we overcome that . Because we can still overcome it. Its not an enemiable that is undefeatable. This an enemy we can actually beat. The enemy is much bigger now. Much bigger. All over the mr. Net and spread. The reason i ask is the general were his immilitary advisors telling him not to do it . Because we are about to get a new president. We need a president to Pay Attention to military advisors or she is going to Pay Attention to the military advisors. Cant freelance because only president obama was thought this was a good idea to pull the troops out of iraq. What we have to have a president to ho is willing to make the harder right decisions that do not that are not based on political issues and political ideology. They are based on whats best for this country . Whats the harder right decision to make for the future of our country . Our own selfish selfinterest. I think thats really important. And its time now for part with it of our ongoing series of deciders. Griff jenkins went to ohios coal country to talk to blue collar minor to talk to donald trump. Donald trump because is he for coal. We have got to have donald trump because is he for coal. Hillary clinton isnt going to help us out none so im going tore donald trump. Why ho are you going to support and why. 100 percent donald trump. Coal country is trump country. Thats what we discovered at the Buckingham Coal mine in southeast, ohio. And we took our cameras inside the mine to find out what these critical swing state voters were thinking. Lets go in the mine. Im definitely going to vote for trump. I really dont want a career politician as somebody running the country. Lets try something different. For decades, Blue Collar Workers like these have been reliable democrats. But, inside the mine, we found miner after miner who are ready for a change. Looks like the world is going in the wrong direction right now. I believe Hillary Clinton gets it, thats the way we are going to keep on going. Hopefully if donald trump becomes president , hopefully he can bring us back. We have got to get somebody in there who supports coal to have energy for america. Recently, americas coal industry has been disseminated. In just the last five years, the industry has lost 94 of its market value. Sobering statistics that are on the minds of these miners. The last six, eight years the Current Administration has been not a friend of coal. So obviously we are all a little concerned with our jobs and concerned with the future going forward. And one thing we noticed in particular was the anger directed at former secretary of state Hillary Clinton for saying this earlier this year. Were going to put a lot of coal miners and Coal Companies out of business. When she says she is going to put coal miners out of business but give you a subsidy and retrain you for something else, what do you say . I would rather keep on running coal. We asked the head of the Coal Association kristin aside why are these miners changing their votes so much he said pause he believes the voters havent changed the parties have and left this group behind. Tomorrow we stay in ohio and take you inside a veteran owned Hydraulics Company and see firsthand why this issue of trade is resonating so strong in switching people to trump. Griff, thank you. Donald trumps party is needing to nail down the Republican Party platform. Right now Everyone Wants to know who will trump pick to be his Vice President ial nominee. Just a short time ago Reince Priebus went on the record. Mr. Chairman, nice to see you, sir. Hey, greta. So, can i squeeze out of you any information as to when donald trump is going to make his announcement on his Vice President . Well, he is working hard on it. And the family is meeting and talking. And he has been, you know, just really thinking about what would be best for him. You know, its a personal decision. And i think that he is going to make the right one. Obviously we are going to run out of time, right . Next wednesday night is when the big speech is for Vice President. It will happen pretty soon. Im obviously saving something that everybody knows. Obviously im not getting an answer to my question but at least i tried. The republican platform, they have added a wall to it. Wall that donald trump talks about. What do you think about that . Well, i mean, whether its a fence or a wall, i mean, for years and years the platform has included the border fence, which Congress Passed in 2006 but never actually funded. So, the idea of a border fence has been in our platform for many, many years and just changing the word from fence to wall is what they did and maybe it was a little hat tip to donald trump on that issue. And thats fine. Its something that the party had in the platform for a long time. All right. But it doesnt say who is going to pay for it. So he didnt totally tip your hat the republican rules committee. We didnt say that part. Thats for donald trump to get done. Thats for him to get done. We are just saying what our position is as far as who pays for it, you know, Congress Already agreed that it would be paid for 10 years ago and now it will be up to President Trump to figure that one out. But i think he is going to try to get that one done. So today the big news also that senator Bernie Sanders is finally endorsed secretary of state Hillary Clinton. Senator, i mean donald trump had two tweets. One said Bernie Sanders endorsing crooked Hillary Clinton is like occupy wall street endorsing goldman sachs. And he also said to all the bernie he also said to all the bernie voters who want to stop bad trade deals and global special interest we welcome you with open arms. People first. Your thoughts on this endorsement today . First tweet i thought was pretty good. Double edged sword. She wants to show unity but got to show unity with a devout socialist from vermont. Im not sure how thats going to work out. I mean, i dont think hillary moving to the left is good on a general election move for her. You know, so, look, i think its a double edged sword. I think hillary has bigger problems. The problem she is people think she is dishonest. Comey basically laid out the path of lies that she has been living. And you see it in the polling. She just cant move up. And donald trump getting more consistent and the last month i think he has been much better and reading from the teleprompter has been great. Issegregate high marks and polling today in battleground states shows is he doing better as well. She is just sort of stuck. Its important to know where her flat line is and to know that donald trump is making up ground. What about i know some republicans who question whether or not she should be allowed a security cleecious and soon she is going to be getting security briefings. I assume that you have something to say about that. Well, of course. I mean, you know, she obviously, i think, violated the statute. I dont understand why james comey didnt move forward on what looked like a prima facie case for gross negligence. He at the very least called out herlies. Im sure as james comeyaid discipline in the fbi would be anything but either a suspension or a walking out the door. And here she is wanting to get security briefings, and i think that people like paul ryan and others are going to lead that sort of analysis and investigation to make sure that, you know, she has got what most employees would have coming. Most employees wouldnt be employed to tell you the truth. Now im going to do something mean and see if i can book you next week in cleveland. Will you do our show one of the nights next week in cleveland . Yes, i will do the show one of the nights next week in cleveland. Be happy to do it. I would be honor to do do it. Thats a dirty trick to do it on air. Anyway, mr. Chairman thats okay. You are good wisconsin girl. All right. After that i will see new cleveland. Thank you, sir. All right. Well see you. And today, five seats left empty at the Memorial Service in dallas. Thousands of people paying their respects. But those five seats remain empty to honor the five murdered Police Officers. President obama, michelle obama, first lady and president george w. Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush and Vice President joe biden and first lady to joe biden. It was emotional to pay respects a and mourn five Police Officers that made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting and serving the Dallas Community last thursday night with two president s and senators and other dignitaries and scores of Police Officers and victims family members sharing laughs and tears and honoring those fallen five. Lorne arens, michael smith, patrick Sam Zamarripa and michael krol. Putting themselves. There is no question these five men gave their li
