FOXNEWSW Outnumbered Overtime With Harris Faulkner July 7, 2020

The Washington Redskins and cleveland indians, two fabled sports franchises, look like they are going to be changing their names in order to protect or, rather, to be politically correct. Indians like Elizabeth Warren must be very angry right now obviously facetious this in his tweet there but the point of all of this, and we were talking about this last hour. We were going to get into it with Kellyanne Conway who will join me, counselor to the president , at the white house. The point of all this, does it politically worked . Does it work for democrats and republicans to be going at each other over this on the hill, and then for the president also to see it as a way to connect with voters . Kellyanne conway joins me now. Kellyanne, as you step in, and filling in the audience about where we are on the socalled culture wars. Does this work for the president . Well, look, he didnt start this argument. People are trying to shame people from jobs. They are disagreeing with any dissent. They are trying to cancel individuals. It is mostly people who choose to live their lives online, not offline. I choose to live my life mostly offline. Harris, we have an increasing number of americans who think everything thats online is real, and that its up to them to know what is in everybodys hearts, twist one were to hear for one thing that was done 40 years ago there. I think the president s broader point is he is looking for the future. He is a visionary. He is being positive and patriotic. Here is my main problem with canceled culture ripping down statues and the like. How does it get one more kit of color who is in a Failing School a better opportunity, better education . These same people who are saying rip down statues, take away portraits in the hall, they vote against opportunity scholarships here in washington, d. C. , which help africanamerican and hispanic kids. They dont vote for tax cuts and the jobs act which are helping those children experience and will eventually help them. Lets take one state. We have them at the state of Union Address this year. Shes 1 of 50000 schoolchildren in one state, pennsylvania, on a waiting list for an opportunity scholarships, school choice. You have the democratic governor vetoing that. Why . Why are people like that standing in the schoolhouse door and not allowing kids to exit for a better opportunity . One of my major objections with all of that as it is easier to talk and squeal and complain and bellyache and lila should be easily bent to help people. Harris as you talk about that, this is coming up in the military and operates i want to get to this. Defense secretary mark esper must now decide whether to ban the display of the Confederate Flag after the service chief made the unanimous recommendation to do so. I want to know what the president , what his reaction to this is, as well. This is now part of this broader conversation, as you say, that we are having about cancel culture. It is a broader conversation. I noted that they talked about maybe putting Confederate Flags museum so people could learn from history. He very recently i think just today in a different interview said its also a freedom of speech issue. But i think we should also welcome these conversations. Secretary esper and those in the military will make the decisions as they see fit. Again, lets distinguish between talking and walking, between reviewing and doing. There are so many people in this country in dire need, harris, that if we are talking about not we just you and me, and patting ourselves on the back. Look what we did, we grew into this industrys future and customer base. It doesnt help. In a bipartisan fashion. Harris i want to turn the wheel little bit to go deeper. The president says, just recently, freedom of speech issue in terms of the Confederate Flag on the ships and the military, so on and so forth. In this broader issue, how do we focus on helping people . Is he going to get there with this issue . Are they going to focus, as you have done, on the things that really matter . Look at 3 00 this afternoon. You have the president , first lady, second lady, and i will be there talking about reopening schools. I cant think of anything you me important. I will ask some of the saves the open bars, do we want to open them now or schools in six or seven weeks . I vote for schools. They are of the Central Nervous system and our entire nation, our parents, these parents need to get back to work. The kids arent all safe at home. We saw a tremendous Digital Divide laid bare at the end of the school year, millions of kids do not have a Digital Asset they needed to learn. We see Mental Health challenges increasing, drug abuse, alcohol abuse, isolation. These kids need structure. Spew when you are asking a question ive been asking. How did we have weed dispensers open before we were looking at this . The president put this inside to talk about important things, i was just saying that in less than a few hours will be doing that. Harris okay, i have a quick followup, because ive been asking about this. I didnt education town all. Is secretary devos going to be there . It would have been nice to hear from her along the journey, house also. Shes been very active, actually. She came to milwaukee with the Vice President and me and some others to celebrate the anniversary of school choice. The president has a very important. She has emergency relief or nonpublic schools and education scholarships are making their way through the house and senate. Those would help, again, nonpublic students to stay in those schools. We have lots of Catholic Schools closing, nonpublic schools that dont get, as they do in d. C. , 30,000 per student, and not the performance for those kids. They deserve better, for sure. We are trying to make sure that our nonpublic schools stay as an option for many parents and grandparents. The present is so great on school choice, and we have tried partisans a point. Democrats, dependents, republicans all supported. We have africanamericans, hispanicamericans, millennials, they support school choice. Why . Its providing additional options. The president said if we could dig a panama canal, wind two where the wars, put a man on the moon, we should be able to deliver quality education for each student. We are there for this reason. Harris im curious if a lot of parents are concerned, and i for the president and members of the administration say that children are less likely to get covid19, but certainly having some sort of guarantee of Safety Measures at 3 00 p. M. Eastern will be important, too pay last question, fox news has obtained a copy of that new book by the president s niece. It includes this conversation by mary trump. That she had with the president sister, her aunt. We thought the breathing down my blatant racism on display during donalds announcement speech would be a deal breaker, but we were disabused of the ide evangelical started endorsing him. Maryann, a devout catholic was incensed. What the dash is wrong with him . She said. The only time you integers when the cameras are there. Its mindboggling, he has no principles. What is the reaction from the white house to the book that is coming out . I will say a few things. One is that the president sister and the president have a great relationship as far as i can see, meaning she came to the inauguration almost two years after the announcement, and i believe Family Matters should be Family Matters. I think the thinskinned, living in a glass house, media stream members who think peoples families have a business ought to think thrice the next time they do that. We imbue instant credibility unto anybody, especially those not under oath and writing works of fiction, perhaps, or fiction within a work of fiction, as long as theyre out there to get the president. I think reporters ought to focus on getting the story and not the president. Thats what they are supposed to be doing. The other thing i would Say Something i do know about with respect to the late father fred jr. , and the way his brother feels about him. This president got so committed to cracking down on the drug epidemic in our country, inspired first and foremost by the struggles of his own older brother, fred jr. , who has complemented as being so handsome and full of life and so talented and so smart, and the heir to the Family Business as the oldest son, the oldest child. That he watched him die of alcoholism at 42. The president has very publicly said something ive heard privately any number of times. He said that donald trump watching his own brother struggle is why donald trump has never touched a drug, had a drop of alcohol, had a drag of a cigarettes entire life. I have seen him in private settings tell children, dont do that. He has committed himself, as has the first lady. Drug addiction is a Public Policy issue they were gone together. Thats what we should take from this president and his memory of his brother. I think there are too many books out there that are never factchecked. Now we are repeating a conversation that somebody is saying they had been somebody else who isnt even in her own voice and a book. Harris we see a lot of books. Yes, ill leave it at that. My book will be great one day, youll love it. I will come back on the talk about my book on one day. Harris [laughs] with plenty of pictures. And the sequel. Harris good to see you. Stay tuned, 3 00 p. M. Eastern for the white house event on education. Very excited. Take care. Harris violence surging in new york city as the mayor bill de blasio largely blames coronavirus. But a former nypd commissioner says local leaders need to step up. Plus, atlantas mayor under fire after that deadly weekend in our city. Shes defending herself amid a wave of criticism. The Atlanta Police department selected and have her support or her back. Its not about saying that you support them, its actually being there when they need it. Harris georgias governor has declared a state of emergency, and is activating 1,000 National Guard troops after violence that left an 8yearold little girl, secoriea turner, did this weekend. It happened near the wendys where Atlanta Police shot and killed rayshard brooks. Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms faces new criticism for her handling of that protest site, where armed demonstrators blocked a city street and refused to let police inside. In an Emotional Press Conference on sunday, bottoms defended herself and said there was little authorities could do because of gun laws there. Watch it. The reality is georgia is an open carry state. The sad part is that they can walk around with weapons this long down narrow streets because the law in georgia says they can do it. Harris Joe Cardinale served as lieutenant and as commander with the nypd. Great to see you today, joe. Same here, harris. Harris i have heard a cry from the mom of that little girl, secoriea turner, who is standing near that same area not long ago. If black lives matter, why didnt her daughter matter . Iis all about gun laws . Its guns in the hand of the wrong people. Im sure that person did not go about doing it. We are talking about criminals right now. Seizing the opportunity to do anything they want in a lawless society, as they see fit. Its ridiculous. They just dont get it, these politicians. It is coming to this point where the children are paying a price, an innocent victim paying the price, as usual, while a politician sit by and make their own laws that dismantled the whole policing system. Harris i understand in communities its hard to point the finger toward those who may look like you. But i know that that is something that black communities are dealing with right now. They are taking a look at this past weekend, and youre hearing hearing some voices calling for, wait a minute. Thats part of the equation. When youre talking about lawlessness . How much does it change the game to hear a billion dollars gone from nypd Police Department . When criminals potentially hear that . It absolutely changes the game big time. The nypd was formed with their numbers based on the community they have to serve. These numbers were put in place before terrorism. Now you put terrorism into the equation, and ill tell you right now, its just absolutely giving them a trojan horse, the terrorists, to come in and do what they have to do. The cops hands are tied, no matter what new york city cops do, theyll be wrong. Mayor de blasio has set back, bail reform, he defends this new choke hold which adds the word diaphragm to it. A cop cannot effectively make an arrest with that word in there, and the cops have to take a step back. Then you have the cops, the protesters getting right in their face with no mask on or anything, and he has the audacity to blame it on the pandemic . Is not too concerned about his cops were the people they serve with these protesters getting the right in their faces. I wish that law would come into effect, giving a 6foot space. You violate that space, you get arrested. Harris let me scoot to this. We are talking about the nypd, the department reporting now a troubling spike in crimes in the month of june. Skinning shootings are up, murders are up 30 . As you mention, mayor bill de blasio is blaming the coronavirus, but he former new York City Police commissioner says politicians are feeling the city. Its going to get a lot worse, unfortunately. For all the attention the political leaders are paying to the demonstrations, defund the police, et cetera, where the the hell are they in terms of death count rising . Harris i want to show you something else, too. Ill ask my team to pop up the cover of the new york post. It has a quote, crimeravaged city cries out for help. Bill, do something. In the very center of the screen it says do something. A similar headline back in the 1990s when David Dinkins was mayor. It seems like were going backwards. I want the audience to know, Joe Cardinale, you are on the force during the early 1990s and previously to that. What do you make of it . Absolutely, its like deja vu. The only difference being that mere dinkins at the time finally said, the police have to step in and i have to let them do their jobs. Harris how long did it take it . It took a while, h it took couple of jets. The Crown Heights riots were nothing to laugh about. Its the worst time right now because now with this bail reform, we need to put them in and you have something going on, they are just going to get right back out. These criminals today are seizing this opportunity to go out and do what they have to do, they dont care who is in their way. An 8yearold child, a 68yearold person, 100yearold person. They dont care, theyre going to take care of business. With the climate the Police Officers having to do their job, in this atmosphere, with no backing whatsoever from city hall other than a handful of politicians who dont want this, go ahead, defund the police and this is whats going to happen. Its not going to get better, itll get progressively worse. Hold onto your seats, because its going to get worse. Spew when you refresh memories about what it took to get David Dinkins to go forward and engage more Police Officers. Im wondering what is all taken now with the conversation with mayor de blasio. Ill have you back on a different day. I thank you for your time. Absolutely, harris. Thank you. Harris a warning from a top g. O. P. Senator, why he says the durham investigation of the russia probe is taking too long. Plus, the white house is searching for those who leaked intelligence information about russian bounty on u. S. Troops. A list of suspects narrowed. Former acting attorney general Matt Whitaker joins overtime next. As not built on whitecollar, it was built on bluecollar, hard work. Hard work means every day.
