This is not like other snow storms. It is going to be by all indications worse and people have to be ready. Reporter new york city has put nearly 5,000 sanitation workers on 12hour shifts trying to keep 6,000 miles of roads clear with 500 salt spreaders and more than 2,000 plows bracing for what could be one of the biggest snowfalls in city
history. It is a serious blizzard and should not be taken lightly. It could effect health and safety. Reporter the governors of new york and new jersey have declared states of emergency activating the National Guard and ordering highway closures and travel restrictions. Reporter connecticut issued a 9 00 p. M. Travel ban. Massachusetts ordered nonessential Motor Vehicles off the roads and is preparing for several days of possible power outages. Snow is predicted to fall at a rate of two to four inches every hour into tuesday with winds gusting near hurricane strength. Winds in excess of 50 to 60 Miles Per Hour not just a period of three hours, six to ten hours. People cannot be out of their homes. You cannot be on the roads. You cannot be outside. New yorks governor has announced 13 counties will have a travel ban including new york city and here on long island.
