The senate has reached an agreement to fully bring to the floor open debate on immigration. That would include daca. No such agreement has been reached in the house. Leader pelosi would like to have that same open debate and votes on the house floor. I think that should be done. That gives us the opportunity not only to deal with the budget, all of the issues of funding the military and other domestic programs like homeland security, Border Agents and all the rest. And i think we can do it. Its very close. All that really needs to be done here is for speaker ryan to say, yes, we will have a vote on daca and related issues on the house floor. That has never happened in the house over all these many seven, eight years now, and we really need to do that. Dana i know youre on the transportation and infrastructure committee. Monday the president will reveal his budget request. What do you anticipate there . This budget deal youre voting on today would be separate obviously from that. Are you anticipating something that you will be able to sort of be happy ab when it comes to the infrastructure proposal theyre going to put forward . Im certainly happy that it will be dealt with. Its been long in the process. We need to get to it. However, what we have seen thus far really concerns me. That is the 200 billion of federal money is not new. Its existing money and various programs. It appears, at least from information weve received thus far, is that it is a repackaging of those programs and a particular problem for urban centers because it appears as though the funding for public transportation, buses, rail and so forth would be removed and put back into this new packaging. How that works, we dont know. Maybe well find out next week. In any case, we absolutely have to get to the transportation tprubg issues.
