Last week we highlighted the disgraceful failures by the fbi that allowed mass murderer nikolas cruz to kill 17 people in parkland, florida. Since then the story has become even more disgraceful. We learn now that there were 18 calls to the Broward CountySheriffs Office about nikolas cruz. These included specific warnings that he planned to shoot up the school. Was buying rifles, cutting himself and killing animals, could be a School Shooter in the making. This is on top of the highly specific warning to the fbi in september of last year in january this year. And on top of new details emerging of catastrophic Law Enforcement failures. Not just in the years, months and days before the shooting but literally in the minutes when it was underway. With an armed and armored sheriff deputy standing outside while the massacre was going on inside. All this is an absolute outrage. And it reveals something truly rotten about our Public Officials and our public sector. Not just in this tragic case, but all the time. Right across the country. Failure after failure after failure which in the private sector would result in immediate and swift accountability. But in the public sector, simply produces bureaucratic like talk of lessons learned. Imagine if a Major Airline had received multiple specific reports of engine failure on a named, specific plane and the plane went down and killed even one person. The ceo wouldnt last five minutes. Yet here, and this actually Crystal Clear case of systemic incompetence, the two people on top of the organizations are still in their jobs. It is obscene. That fbi director Christopher Wray has not taken responsibly and resign. There are no adequate words to describe the shamelessness of Broward County sheriffs scott israel. Frantically touring tv studio to save his skin while grieving families are slowly realizing the full extent of the sheriffs role in their loved ones death. And heres the worst part. Even if he does eventually quit, it wont be because he thinks he did a terrible job. It will be because he did a terrible tv interview. Where is the honor . Where is the integrity and our Public Officials today . There is no accountability. Whatever happens, whatever goes wrong in this case and so many others. They take no response ability. They blame someone else. The blame the system. Find a scapegoat. They do everything they can to cling to their cushy positions and their fat pensions and their job security that working americans can only dream of. Were so sick and tired of it. Of course sheriff israel should go. Of course director Christopher Wray should go. That should be the start of it. A new culture of accountability for our government and public sector. That is the next evolution we need. Please tell me what you think youd follow us on twitter and have your say steve hilton. Sorry for getting worked up but i feel worked up. Lets bring in our panel. Fox news contributor 10 eight tomi lahren. Bob ehrlich. Adrian elrod and former white house medications director, anthony scaramucci. We are so excited to have you here. [multiple speakers] its a rare treat to be graced by the presence of the mooch. I will be leaving here in 10 days. Steve i want to put you on the spot. I want to ask you specifically, i want to make it broader. Lets start specifically with sheriff israel, director of the fbi Christopher Wray. Should they resign in your view . I would split the difference with you. I think the sheriff probably should resign point hes not going to because hes a lifer down there and he will sit tight and thats probably what his team is recommending he do. I think was of array is different. Hes brandnew to the job youd only 78 months into the job. I dont know if you can blame him for the accountability for everything up the chain. Thats my personal opinion. I would give him more time to figure out what went from there. It wasnt the guy that created the system or as it relates to these mass shootings. I would give him more time. Youre making a broader point about public safety, Public Officials and accountability. Everybody knows we do a terrible job of that. If you just look at the last time the civil service, the union was actually reformed was in 1917. With 4 million federal workers. We know there are federal workers that are not even working. They cant get fired. You have to hire an administrative judge to get them kicked out of the job but they dont even show up to work. Theres a big broad issue here. I would split the difference on those two governmental officials but more broadly, with the take back the government. With the do something Ronald Reagan would do. Fire air traffic controllers. Push the unions around a little bit. Wont make you popular but i think thats the best thing we can do for the united states. Steve i totally take the point thats not about specific blame attaching to Christopher Wray. I dont think anyone is suggesting that. Theres a culture it seems where things just happen and no one takes responsibility. Its all the time and people are fed up with it. I had 60,000 employees at one point. Every time they made a mistake i would hate to think someone would have to resign. Your point is well taken. I did a little math here. There are issues we are talking around and buy. Police training and process, you talk about gun control. We are talking about police process and procedure and mistakes made. In the field this particular day. We are talking about actual gun control. The actual guns themselves. The actual accessories you want to change we want to delegitimize. Were talking about Mental Health screening. Steve let me stop you for a second because we will talk about that later. I want to focus on this issue of accountability in our public sector. Tomi lahren, dont you think people are fed up with it . This is a really horrific catastrophic version of it. But its an illustration of a bigger problem. I think so but i dont think thats where this conversation is right now. Its still on the nra which stuns me why we are still talking about gun control when we have all this information we know now about the failures of the school, failures of the cops, failures of the fbi. Somehow its the nras fault. Somehow its the millions of members of the nra. We have ads being pulled. People upset about the nra. Putting billboards up, kill the nra. Thats where the conversation has moved to. Its not going to solve anything. Steve adrian, i dont think this to be a partisan issue. But it seems, you are seeing a dividing emerging where youve got the basically taken the position that tomi just described. I think there are two separate issues. One issue is the entire system failed. I do agree with anthony that im not sure that Christopher Wray that just came in should resign over this. There are flaws that happen all the time in government. I do think the Broward County sheriff, i dont know why he is continuously going on television. Jake taber grilled him on his show this morning. I would definitely say in terms of accountability, government standpoint, he should step down. There should be some action there. On the issue of gun control. Two thirds of the country want to see change here. Steve we really are going to discuss that. The other week, i know you arent at the white house anymore but you are the closest person i can ask this question two. The other week there was a report that President Trump was going to be moving forward with a plan that would hold Civil Servants accountable. To get rid of the cushy job security. Do you know whats happened to that . I dont but we did work on that during the transition. We also, steve bannon and i worked on this whole Administrative State issue in ruling that layers of the Administrative State. What ends up happening is, calcification takes place inside the government. Where a lot of the stuff the executive branch or the legislative branch should be doing is actually being done by a ministry to judges from the bench. This level of judicial activism is something we wanted to roll back. We think it will lead to more growth, or Economic Growth and a fairer society. My guess is he will get to that. If you look at the regulatory process and where the Economic Growth is coming from, no offense to my democratic friends but we did have Economic Growth for eight years. Any quarter where there was a three percent in gdp. With the new president weve got three percent plus quarters. Most of this is from deregulation, improvement in the tax cuts, or disposable income. The last piece which i think is absolutely critical if the bully pulpit. We have a president that is probusiness and perceived by thebusiness committee as probusiness. It will happen but i dont know enough about in the last two weeks. Its on the agenda. Steve i hope so because i think its literally one of the biggest changes that could be made for the longterm. We will pick up on the guns debate in a second. The swap doesnt stop in dc with the federal government. It goes all around the country swap watch takes on corruption at the state level. Is your stay on the swap list . And President Trump warming to the idea of stronger background checks and eight restrictions for gun owners. We will discuss that later. Will anything come of these ideas being discussed . As the one whos always trapped beneath the duvet, im begging you. Take gasx. Your tossing and turning isnt restlessness , its gas. Gasx relieves pressure, bloating and discomfort in minutes so we can all sleep easier tonight. Ohhhhhh, ou guess what i just got . Uh i used to be spellbound hello again. I used to be spellbound hi. I used to be spellbound thats a big phone. In your arms. [screams] ah, my phone. You built the flame that warms my heart, but lying and cheating has torn us apart and im moving on. Ive spoken to many senators, many congressmen. Just today, yesterday, the day before, and i think we will have a great bill put forward very soon. Having to do with background checks. Having to do with getting rid of certain things and keeping other things. I said fellows, we have to get going on some really good legislation. So background checks will be very important. Steve that was President Trump last night on fox news touting his plan. By strengthening background checks and raising the legal age to buy certain guns. His plan faces atough uphill battle with some in his own party arguing these will do nothing. Adrian, i cut you off earlier because i promised we would talk about your chance. Are you encouraged by what you are hearing . I actually am encouraged by what the president said last night on fox news. In part because we have to start somewhere, right . I would love to see the resurrected. I think republicans and democrats both feel that way. Thats real constructive bill that would increase background checks. It would create more stability when it comes to background checks. I actually am encouraged because the students are speaking out. This is their movement. They are taking on the nra. They dont even care really about the nra at this point that they are literally saying, want to take back our schools. We want to feel safe when we go to school. They are so incredibly articulate. The difference between this shooting and sandy hook is the students were older. Many of them were snapped chatting the incident. It was a terrible thing to see. These are the people that will make the change. This is the difference. You are seeing fortune 500 country starting to cut ties with the nra. I think youll see realchange the time. Steve tomi , what you think of the president s attitude toward this . I think its great were having this conversation but it shows our president really is listening. I think even his critics have to give him that. I think most of us at the table will agree that background checks are on the table. I think they need to be strengthened. But i will say this, about other laws and changing things. The careful the freedoms that you give away because you will not get them back. To make this a gun control issue i think is a huge mistake. If the gradual chipping away at at our rights. It starts with they call i am an assault rifle. Theydoesnt even stand for assault rifle. Now lets take away handguns. Lets trick our citizens of their Second Amendment rights. I think thats the wrong move and americans will stand up and realize that once the emotion passes. I agree. Demonizing the nra as big dollars. Every time one of these incidents occurs. Again, other issues including by the way, the most important issue in my view is what we would with the local level with regard to individual schools and school district. Who are we going to hire. Who are we going to train . Are we going totrain certain teachers. Thats a real gun control issue and that needs to be addressed now. Steve im interested in the, this potential example of the difference hes bringing to politics. The dealmaking ability. Heres the good news. Its like a nixon going to china moment. The nra trusts the president. They like him, he likes them. I think there is room here. I think the background checks are one thing but we were talking about moving the age from 1821. Apparently the nra is not for that. But the president is for that. Something we dont have on the table is the reaction of the panel and yourself is the magazines. If we can reduce magazines from 15 to 10. Or 15 to 8. You would reduce casualties by a big amount. The big thing for me, im a father of five children. I want my children safe in the school. I dont think youre going to get it by repealing the Second Amendment. I will tell you as a student of our history and a family of gun owners. My dad has been in the nra for 60 years. The Second Amendment is not going away. I tell my democratic friends, the Second Amendment is there for a reason. The right to bear arms to protect us from your ancestors if you dont mind me saying so. Steve i always point this out. Im actually hungarian. I grew up in the uk so dont blame me. All right, i take that back. You run my whole train of thought. The point is if you understand the point of liberty. The concepts about the republic was set up for, it was todefend not only against enemies but also the enemy of the state. Its never going away. So now youve got to chip steve but the demonization of the nra in my opinion is not helping anybody. What i recommend to the president is lets get every town and the nra together. The president is great at this. One we get 34 parties that absolutely hate each other. Get the president in the room or hire a mediator and lets find commonground. Steve definitely. As opposed to making a political hit on the nra. Steve tomi, last word to you on this. Do you buy this nixon to china thing . Or is it suspicious that you will end up to something that response to something that must be done after does damage in the longterm. I dont think this will help in the long term aside from the background checks. Also Mental Illness which i think is at the core of a lot of those. Moving forward, im glad the president , even though i might not agree with some of the restrictions. I am glad he is having this conversation because its important to have. I think he will get the democrats to move a little bit by showing hes extending his hand. Lets move forward. Like i said, be careful which liberties to give away. He will not get them back. Steve i so agree with that. Thank you for the historical we want to talk about how you guys destroyed the middle east after the break. Steve you be quiet now. I was excited to have you earlier. I think we really need to understand the history and traditions of this country. The point you made about the Second Amendment, not being just citizens protecting against criminals but actually from an overbearing state is incredibly important and totally missed a lot of the international discussions. Coming up, with the midterm elections getting closer, what are the chances the gop can keep control of the house and senate . One of our panelists thinks they will. All because of donald trump. That is next. Constipation and diarrhea can start in the colon and may be signs of an imbalance of good bacteria. Only Phillips Colon Health has this unique combination of probiotics. It provides fourinone symptom defense. Its your daily probiotic. Stay with me, mr. Parker. When a critical patient is far from the hospital, the hospital must come to the patient. Stay with me, mr. Parker. The at t network is helping First Responders connect with medical teams in near real time. Stay with me, mr. Parker. Saving time when it matters most. Stay with me, mrs. Parker. Thats the power of and. Welcome back to the next revolution. With the midterm elections quickly approaching, many are wondering if the republicans will be able to keep control of the house and senate. Anthony scaramucci has a view. If not republican talking points, its actually empirical evidence that it will happen. Because if you look at the seats that are up and analyze the seats that are up and analyzing the increase in disposable income in those areas of the country where the seats are up, the donald j. Trump tax cut. In the senate, its a little different because the seats better up there, we will have to see what happens. Senator corker as an example. But i still think they maintain their lead in the senate but they really do keep the house. By a reasonable margin. If you go to 2006, to use president obamas words, got shellacked. In this case i dont think that will happen because this is the first time where real money is entering the pockets of average americans. Just take a look at the data. Disposable income rising. People typically vote with their pocketbooks. So i make a prediction here that will keep the house. The senate, even democrats would say, even up slightly better. Steve really interesting. That seemed kind of crazy
