Across the world of sports and entertainment tonight and, as you can imagine a somber mood right here in calabasas where throughout the day we look across you can see the crowd gathered even in the darkness, here to pay tribute to a true legend of the game of basketball. A true legend of the mba. They have been standing here for hours just staring up the hill across the street from where they are where the helicopter carrying kobe bryant slammed into the hillside at around 9 47 a. M. This morning. It was an s76 in which kobe bryant, the pilot and seven other people were traveling. All of them according to the Sheriffs Office dead now. The coroner has not yet got to the scene and taken away all the bodies so the sheriff at this point is not identifying everybody on board. Kobe bryants death is confirmed and that of his 13yearold daughter gianna. He was such a huge figure across the sports world and nowhere more so here in l. A. Where he played for the lakers and brought summary championships to the city. To give you an idea of just what he meant to the city, i want to quote a legend himself , Los Angeles Times sports columnist who wrote this, kobe bryant is gone and those are the hardest words ive ever had to write for this newspaper. He went on, cry with me, weep and wail, fill a suddenly empty los angeles with your pain, and the other nba legend Michael Jordan also said in a statement today, quoting again , i loved kobe, he was like a little brother to me. We used to talk often and i will miss the conversations very muc much. He was a fierce competitor, one of the greats of the game and a creative force. That, obviously a very touching, very meaningful tribute from number 23 to number 24, kobe bryant dead tonight at the age of 41. Jonathan, thank you. Thanks for reporting on this. Joining us now on the phone is fox sports analyst chris, theres so many different angles to this that just make you feel so sad. Obviously the personal, when you think of his surviving family, but also the way he was just such a giant figure not just an American Sports but american society. What are your reflections. Ive heard people say terrible day for los angeles and others have said terrible day for the country. He was known throughout the world, he was arguably the most popular nba player in china. This is something people are morning throughout the world. It was just devastating for everybody. He is one of the greatest players of all time and i also think as shocking as it is, its even more so because of his age, only 41. He had made such a move, a transition from basketball to life after that. You become a great businessman and he had won the oscar with his film, he was really comfortable in his life after that, even as he was still involved in the game and coaching his daughters and working with other players and doing his detail show for espn , but he was such a wellrounded individual and thats unusual. Someone who has such tunnel vision for the game of basketball while he was playing, he really was very intelligent. He had a lot of other interests and you really saw that when he retired from basketball. He just went another direction and kept it moving and that is one of the things that makes it so hard because he was definitely going to do more great things off the court as great as he did on the court. Thats a really beautiful reflection. I really appreciate it. Thank you for being with us. Youre welcome. Joining me here, certified nba sports agent, anthony. That was a great encapsulation about why this is such a big deal. He was much more than just any other player. It was the sense that he was such a role model. Make no mistake just in terms of the stardom that he brought the league, an iconic figure in those images we have of him winning the championship, standing him on the bench and shack holding him, and the idea of him being gone at 41 is devastating and i feel for his family. I do want to say the image he left behind, the way he carried himself off the court, the way hes pass that on to a lot of younger players like lebron and anthony davis, a lot of these guys are carrying on as Great Investors again. There was this idea that we were to make these guys into movie stars, we would imitate these innercity black guys who are 6 feet tall and bring them to the living room of america and make them movie stars and he was a part of that. He was a huge part of that because after Michael Jordan left the game it was like whos going to fill that gap. La left him. [inaudible] you see their face all the time. Its just magic but it was a very tough day for los angeles. Ive been on all day, were all just devastated. I felt the same for all thes these, his wife and three other daughters, just cant imagine that. As a father of a young daughter and a son, im devastated to hear that. It breaks my heart. Thats another thing we need to know about him. He was such a great family man. He put so much into being a great dad and spent so much time in the community with his kids. This is a guy, he wasnt like a lot of athletes. Once he was done, that same tunnel vision and focus, he took that to his next career. He had a broad appeal. Its the whole country. Thats what was so interesting. Its the whole world. Not just americans, all over the world. Its about character, its an incredible achievement. Absolutely. A lot of character, very smart very cerebral guy. He spoke three languages, grew up partly in italy, his dad was in the nba. His whole background was amazing. You put all that together and his life story and a lot of young men in general benefit from his role model. Lets hope so. Its just an awful story. Thank you very much for being with us. We will move on to the rest of the news and whats going on we have a great lineup for you tonight. We will be joined live by those who may. [inaudible] please dont go away. For what you need. Cut. John bolton in his upcoming book, tonight hes reportedly saying President Trump did push to hold ukraine. Democrats have jumped on this and all the house impeachment putting out statement saying these revelations contradict the present impeachment defense and john bolton must now testify. Ive read the full report and it seems to me it doesnt change anything, but you can be sure this is the story that the impeachment fanatics will be obsessed with tomorrow. Well break it all down for you in a minute. Meanwhile, heres what the president was doing last week. Just like the previous week, we saw that massive contrast between trump results and democrat stunts. Doing a deal with france to protect u. S. Tech company, working with tax cuts and finalizing an upcoming trade deal with india. Affirming his support for the right to ligh life by attending the march, the first president to do so and signaling big news in healthcare for the next 90 days. Meanwhile, what were the democrats focused on . Marie jovanovich. The onna hill. Blah, blah, blah, there you see the democrats priorities, not you or your life but a bunch of random ukrainian pompous bureaucrats and diplomats. The theatrics turned to hysterics as they took their wafer thin case to the senate. Its totally ridiculous and boring. Most of all it just felt so hammy. How much can a country take. How much more melodrama did we have to put up with. To benefit himself and then doing everything in his power to cover hi it up and they lie and lie and lie. s misconduct cannot be decided at the ballot box. The president is engaged in this coverup because he is guilty. What did the president know and when did he know it. If the truth doesnt matter, were lost. No constitution can protect us. Right doesnt matter anymore. I mean its so hammy, people are so ridiculous. The president s defense began yesterday and continues tomorrow. They say they dont need the full 24 hours they been given. Damn right. Their cases so thin you dont even need 24 minutes to rebut it. In fact, tonight ill do it for you in under four minutes. And we will prove it to you. Tammy bruce, she will be. [inaudible] are you ready. Im ready. Start the clock. On their first article abuse of power they say he offered foreign country to interfere in our election. No. If its an american whose asking thats not foreign interference, its offense of research. How about that. In any case of course biden should be investigated. He controlled billions of dollars of usaid to the industry while his son was on the board of an energy company. We need to get to the bottom of that obvious corruption and only the ukraine government can do it. They say trump abuse power because he put his personal political interest over national security. That is total bs. The antitank missiles that they needed to fight the russians were never part of a delayed security system. Trump sent those weapons. We dont even need to make these arguments. If you look closely at the democrats case the not actually saying he should be removed from office or calling for investigation. They are saying he needs to be removed from office because of his motive. Not because of what he did but why he did it. His motive they say is the impeachable abuse of power because it was selfserving, putting his personal political interest ahead of national interest. But on that basis, every u. S. President in history would be impeached. Theres always sen self interest in Political Action or decision. To pick random example like president obama over arms control in 2012. How my doing tammy. Good. Okay, fine lets keep going. Its hard to imagine a more ludicrous basis but somehow theyve pulled off that feat with their second article, obstruction of congress. This thing trump should be removed from office for not handing over information including witnesses, but thats literally part of checks and balances laid out in the constitution. Congress asked and the executive branch said no, courts say no. Its happened the whole time. You dont go straight to impeachment, the obstruction is so obviously laid up and stupid its barely worth discussing. One more thing. The question of whether the president committed a crime. First they said you dont need a crime. Now they say that that one because the Government Accountability office said the delay on aid was illegal. Aid, thats rubbish because it was paid so be, that same outfit said obama broke the last seven times but i dont remember anyone wanting to impeach him over that and see, yes you do need a crime because the actual constitution says treason, bribery or other high crimes and misdemeanors. Funny how they always leave out that word other. Its kind of important and kind of inconvenient on ruling class state tv. So theres your rebuttal. It was an abuse of power, it was normal politics. It was an obstruction of congress, it was normal checks and balances and yes you do need a crime, but no you havent got one, democrats. Thats it, were done. Acquit the president , and this farce and for the love of god spend her time working on real issues that affect the real lives of the actual people youre supposed to represent like President Trump is doing everyday showing that giant contrast between trump results and democrat stunts. Were under time, three minutes 44 seconds. I didnt even need that much time. In four minutes you explained most things to the American People it takes a british guy, former british guy. Lets go, matt gates is here very exciting, trump 2020 advisor jenna alice and tammy bruce. Lets get to it. I just think, lets just start with the story. Hasnt really changed anything of substance question market will change the media narrative they will be all over this on this question of whether there should be witnesses. John bolton wants to testify, hes got new information they have to vote. All americans know that no human being is ever in a more. Bolick state than when they are pitching a book deal. John bolton right now is it negotiating testimony hes negotiating the size of his advance. People make the boldest claims in the starkest terms to try to juice that advanced number. I dont make much of this. I do think there is a correlated democratic strategy to try to have these timereleased fuses go off at various intervals. I think theyre trying to keep the show lively because they know the underlying facts do not support impeachment and would require this president to be exonerated. But its very obvious to me reading between the lines of the story that this is totally leaked and hes got the stuff in here. He would like to testify for several reasons. Hes also expressed concern that he will be accused of holding back to increase his book sale. And this is the kavanaugh drip drip drip. Ive been a big supporter of investor bolton and told by many people that perhaps that was applied trust. I dont know if john bolton will become this season. [inaudible] i dont know whats on his mind but what we got in an Election Year in just a few months we will have an election for the presidency of the united states. For him to be playing this sort of role and to be thinking about his book deal, perhaps he is, but he has a history and a background that one would think would put this below him, and i think he should begin to consider the nature of the statement that it would make to people like me who have supported him for ages, for years for him to do this regardless of what you think of the dynamic of whether you like trump or not. We have a president ial election, its an Election Year, clearly americans arent watching, their serious concerns with allegations and of course i support the president because of what hes accomplished for the country but this has pulled back the curtain, this entire episode on what people are made of, john bolton had an opportunity to prove were not mistaken in our support. And i think its interesting, if you look at the next eight days or so, this question of witnesses is really significant because you can imagine a potential scenario where you have, later this week they vote on whether to call witnesses. At the end of this week you could see about where the president is acquitted. Then next monday you could see a vote in iowa with Bernie Sanders winning. Thats gotta be good news. Then on tuesday of got the state of the union. All that adds up to a positive round of events for the president. And when were talking about witnesses, we have to look at the political theater and theres no mistake this is an 1h hour hail mary for the senate to try to push for witnesses. In our constitutional system, if you look at what the actual obligation is, the question of witnesses is entirely premature. The senate is obligated, their threshold duty is to answer the question of whether or not the house has submitted valid, legitimate impeachable arguments. The resounding answer is no. This would be for example if im defending tammy in a court of law and the accusation is that she offended you by statements she made, which would never happen, of course, im not a walk in and say i dont want matt to testify, im in the coming until the judge this is not a crime. We cant even be here legally or validly because offending you is not actually a crime. This entire question of witnesses is a complete red herring. If i can add, to be contrary to some degree, because this is politics we want to convince the American People that the right thing has been done. The president i dont believe, did anything wrong and that should be approvable dynamic. We will come back to that. I want to get the senators take and then will discuss after that. Before we get that heres a quick thing i wanted to say. Secretary of state mike pompeo got into an ugly dustup with an npr reporter and ive got something i want to get off my chest. Our make clear im a big fan and i appreciate his tough stand on many issues. Here for example he made clear that they should block wall way but last week he lost his temper after an interview unleashing a four letter word and putting out a ridiculous statement whining about what questions he agrees to answer. I can tell you Mary Lou Kelly is one of the few hosts on their who actually seems fair and is not totally biased against President Trump redford witness sake mr. Secretary, dont be such a baby. You should be able to handle tough questions by now and dont be such a bully. A reporter doing her job. You should apologize and people will think much more of you if you do. All right. As promised, joining us live after the break, the senator from indiana. Stay right there whoa, this is awful, try it. Oh no, that looks gross what is that . You gotta try it, its terrible. I dont wanna tray it if its terrible. Its like mango chutney and burnt hair. No thank you, i have a very sensitive palate. Just try it hey guys, i think we should hurry up. If you taste something bad, you want someone else to try it. Its what you do. I cant get it out of my mouth if you want to save fifteen percent or more on Car Insurance, you switch to geico. Its what you do. Dog, dog, dog. {tires screeching} {truck honking} [alarm beeping] avo life doesnt give you many second chances. But a subaru can. dad you guys ok . You alright . Wow. avo eyesight with precollision braking. Standard on the subaru ascent. The threerow subaru ascent. Love. Its what makes a subaru a subaru. The ups and downs of frequent mood swings can plunge you into deep, depressive lows. crying take you to uncontrollable highs. muffled arguing or, make you feel both at once.
