Sometimes in the heat of debate, and speaking on a multitude of issues, you dont choose the right words, or you say the wrong thing. I have done that. [ laughter ] [cheers and applause] and, believe it or not, i regret it. Particularly where it may have caused personal pain too much is at stake for us to be consumed with these issues. But one thing i can promise you this. I will always tell you the truth. So the question remains, is trump doing enough to beat hillary in november . Trump likes to make nicknames. He had crooked hillary and line ted, i heard his family is giving him a new nickname it is humble trump. Because he is now, for the first time, expressed regret. So this is obviously a monumental moment in this campaign. We know trump has a big wallet and big permanent. Now you are beginning to see trump with a big heart. I want to ask you guys, do you think he will effectively be able to balance the big hearted, compassionate donald trump which we have started to see with the tough guy, law and order, take no prisoners donald trump that we know and some of us love . When he is delivering his compassionate, heart felt, humble message, he is authentically trump. I mean, he is who he has always been. And i think what he is doing with this message is, he is appealing to women. But, also, how he has crafted this message, is he going after those who are disenfranchised by the economy. Being a change agent and saying, listen, if you want more of the same and expect different results you will be sorely mistaken. If you want somebody who can change it, im your guy. I thought one of the most impressive line from two nights ago was when he said why cant our children be dreamers, too . That appeals to every parent who has a child who wants their kid to have a shot at the american dream. I thought he was pulling at heart strings and delivering the right message for the First Time Since he has won the primary four months ago. Yeah, he is definitely striking a more unifying tone. He is kind of rising above the politics and looking at all americans. Yeah. Leslie, Kellyanne Conway great pollster on the trump pain, she is credited with this kind of newer, softer trump. Because we all know, men will never admit when theyre wrong. Men never make a mistake and when they do they will never admit it pause its a sign of weakness. Now, when i make a mistake because im such an evolved person, i always apologize. Trump apologizing kind of. Do you think this will appeal to women and do you think that is what this is all about . I think this week we have seen the real donald trump come out. Stating that he regrets using some of those words that were, perhaps, unwise but what we are seeing is that donald trump is honest. He is straightforward. And sloot contrast to Hillary Clinton who loys on top of lies. What we are seeing from these speeches are he has given hope. Acandidate has said donald trump is a change agent. Thats what americans need. Thats why he is talking to folks in inner cities and across our great country because they need jobs. Thats what donald trump is going to bring to the table are jobs and be a change agent. Hillary clinton, quite frankly, she will just be secretary of the same. Same old failed policies of barack obama. Same failed job growth that we have seen across our country for the last seven years. And we dont need four more years of secretary of the same in Hillary Clinton. We need a change agent in donald trump. I think if he runs as change, i think he wins this election. He just has to get out of his own way. The election right now is boiling down to you have Hillary Clinton, who he is tagging as the lying, incompetent, runner of a rigged system that you cannot trust and is going to deliver you the same failed policies as president obama, or you have an outsider businessman thats going to tell you the truth, most of the time, and its going to really hurt. But, he is going to never lie to you. And if he can frame it that way, and tie hillary in to the policies of president obama, and create a more uplifting, unifying tone, he has a much better chance at winning independents. And at changing the map around. And even rallying his own base. Because i think the base loves the trump that they have seen the last week and a half with the teleprompter and going to milwaukee where there is pain and suffering. Going to louisiana where there is pain and suffering. I think you are seeing a come back. Would you agree that this is the trump come back . It is. I thought it was a pretty good ad. Bruce, if you look at the ad its also a shot at hillarys trustworthiness. He links her to the rigged system. And this isnt just targeted at American Workers or middle age white guys. You have the family there who needs protection from these outside influences. Where are they made in china . The ties are made in china. Look at the face on donald trump when letterman got him. Letterman still doing all the heavy lifting for the democrats. Exact same thing where you have donald trump doing the same thing. This is what they do. This is how the other side screwed up. Lets play off of this. The problem that trump is having right now he has said a lot more things. He has given hillary a lot more rope in which he can be hung from the things he said. You know, he loves to be on television. All the stuff that he did prior to running for president. Thats coming back. Thats just fodder that she can continue to use. Thats why bill oreilly can never use for president. Exactly. He has years and years were that they can cut up into a 30 second spot. Telling peter and i that we are wrong over and over and over. Exactly. Thats true, that could take up a few years. And if you look at the stats here, trump, i think this ad buys about 4 or 5 million. Its his first one, hillary is out there spending tens of millions of dollars in this battleground states. Is that too little, too late. Thats the advertising. He is able to use his platform. Every time he said something crazy he was on the front page. Hillary never did that. She spent the money more traditionally. What trump is realize something using that platform works for extended period of time until you are in the general.
