FOXNEWSW The Story With Martha MacCallum February 22, 2018

Going to see again. I was on the floor in that building texting my mom, texting my dad, texting three of my brothers that i was never going to see them again. And then it occurred to me that my 14yearold brother was directly above me in that classroom where scott was murdered, and now i dont know how im never going to set foot in that place again or go to a public park after school or walk in anywhere. Me and my friends, we get scared after a car drives by. I turned 18 the day after i woke up to the news my best friend was gone, and i dont understand but i can still go in a store and buy a weapon of war. How is it that easy . How has that not changed after columbine, after sandy, sitting with her mother that lost her son . This is my son, daniel, 7 years old, shot to death in his first grade classroom just a little over five years ago. Im only 15 years old, im a sophomore, the first School Shooting in columbine at columbine high school. I was born into a world where you never you i never got to experience safety and peace. If something happens, i love you. If he is not old enough to go and buy a drink, buy appear, that is common sense, we have to do common sense. I lost my sister, and like mr. President said, you can find 20 , carry a firearm, could have been a very different situation. I would rather arm them with a number from what is happening, it is the person behind the gun. Martha on the same day when we heard all of that at the age of 99, the death of billy graham. Graham expressed his deep concern at what was happening at our country. Ive gone from city to city and seeing how far weve wandered from god. Martha in an interview that year, he said this. Weve been going down the wrong road for a long time. Seemingly, man has learned to live without god. He has lived in it were dangerously torn by hate and conflict and yet he feels powerless to do anything about them. Billy graham preached about hope during our darkest hours, including but after September September 11th. A tragedy like this could have torn our country apart, but instead it has united us. There is hope, because i believe the state has already been set for a new spirit in our nation. Martha and so tonight, as a nation, we take stock with a deeply moving conversation at the white house and a call to action, and we will talk to two people who talked and worked with reverend graham and asked, what was he trying to tell us at the end . In moments, pat boone, who considered reverend graham a brother. But first, senator palin. Obviously, not going on in our country. You hear the debate at the white house and you think about those words and the concern from reverend graham. Reverend graham always kept his message so simple based on such truths. He consistently reminded us. His emphasis was the need for all of us and transformed. He kept that message very simpl simple, knowing that god is the only answer to all the problems that we, as individual and a nation face, and i think that is my reverend graham has been so revered all of these years, people know deep down that he was bold enough to speak it. Martha governor, and you listen to the debate and to hear both sides of this, these killers have an impact, they divide us on this topic over and over. What about what these folks are saying, their concerns about how easy it is for some people who shouldnt have guns to get them in this country . I absolutely understand their concerns, the parents of who have lost their children, nothig more devastating than what they are going through. Going back to billy graham and the significance even of his passing on a day like this, that reminder that nothing is going to change, nothing is going to get better regardless of more laws being passed, more politicians rhetoric across our nation or not, nothing is going to get better until we all realize that we are created for a purpose by god, all life is valuable from the beginning until the end of life, all life is valuable, and unless we give our lives back to god individually and collectively as a nation, nothing is going to get better. Martha i was also struck and reading about reverend graham and the details, i had forgotten some i didnt know, about his work. Back in 1973, he got 3. 2 million to join his largestever crusade in south korea, 1. 1 million of those who were there that day, you juxtapose that with the power of grahams message, they signed up to be christians that day. He obviously felt that that mission was going to help to solve some of the conflict that existed. What do you think about that now in terms of what is going on north korea . I think reverend grahams message, that entire thing to help in so many respects. I think reverend graham was very unique in that he had got all around him unlike other spiritual leaders. He transcended politics and cultural divides and criticisms. He was able to speak truth and not worry about being politically incorrect. It seems like he was even kind of buffeted from a lot of the criticism that many christians face today. That is due to gods favor, and it allowed him to speak to the masses and have the masses receive his message. You mentioned that it was in the 70s, he would have these numbers come forward to hear him speak. A lot of people referred to this time as the jesus movement, it was a revival across the world and in our own nation, and it was much to do with reverend grahams message that resonated with so many people who were hurting, they were lost, just like we all are today, needing hope, needing that promise of salvation. He spoke it clearly and plainly untruthfully, and people have received that. Martha governor palin, good to have you with us tonight. Thank you. Martha the message that many fear is absent is fun that reverend graham had been preaching since his early days. I do not believe that any man, that any man can solve the problems of life without jesus christ. I dont know what your religious background or cultural background, it makes no difference. You come and stand quietly here and say, as it were, i give my life to christ tonight. Jesus did not have white skin like mine. Nor did he have black skin like some of you. Jesus belongs to all the people. God is a god of love. He loves you. When you leave here today, it is this. God loves you. Martha joining me now, pat boone, the legendary singer and actor and a friend of reverend graham since the 1950s. Pat, welcome. Very good to have you here tonight. As you listen to those words from reverend graham, you think about your friendship, what goes through your mind tonight . Yeah, i sure do, so many thoughts, hard to put them all into expression. Billy and ruth were friends of my wife and mine for many years, and we spent some time together in hawaii at various functions. We supported the same things. We attended the same things. They day that Saddam Hussein came up out of that spider hole in iraq, i spent that afternoon, a cold afternoon in the winter, with billy and ruth and franklin over lunch, talked about the way the world was going, and billy had said, and then Ronald Reagan repeated it, pat, the problems this world faces are now beyond human solution. Only Divine Solutions exist for us now. What they were saying is, a nation founded on the principles of the bible and on god himself and that was purely the intent of the founders when they created the constitution, the declaration of independence, even thomas jefferson, making no law respecting religion no restricting the free exercise thereof, all of it based on bible principle. Now a nation built that way and growing that way was the most blessed nation in the world, and we seemed to have the answers to all the worlds problems. Then we began to try to be more like the rest of the world, and it became more. Somebody became afraid they were going to be offended, and then the school kids imagine this paradox. Where these tragedies took place, they had been denied the right to have prayer and began the school day. In the writings and the essays, somebody might be offended. Now, instead of prayer and drugs, theres guns, this violence, there is a connection, a connection between what happened and he listening that people are doing now, and billy billys departure to heaven today, they reside with god who created us, so i was afraid as billy was getting older that the Younger Generation just might never know who billy graham was. I wrote a song ended a video of it, very, very moving, thank you, billy graham. Many stars including bono joined me. They joined me in paying tribute to this man who spoke the truth, never worried about offending anybody else, because it was too important to worry about that. You dont worry about offending somebody, it was always about life or death. Now he has left the building, as they say about elvis, and this building and song, im hoping people will take it into their homes and get it its not a commercial, but it is a tribute to billy for the kids and the grandkids of the near future, and times of tragedy, we are driven to our knees. Im going to israel in may, a celebration of the 70th anniversary. I would love for billy to have gone with me and love everybody else to go. That is where billy preached all of his sermons, on the bible. Martha thank you so much, pat. Great words of wisdom. Bret sorry sorry i can think of anything to say. Martha pat boone, pleasure pleasure. When we come back, we will be joined by this man. This is a longterm situation that we have to solve. Well solve it together. And youve gone through extraordinary pain, and we dont want others to go through the kind of pain that youve gone through. Martha that listening session with an President Trump and americans impacted by School Shootings. Anybody who is not moved by these people and their anger and their grief did not have a pulse. My next guest was there. He spoke of his daughter, rachel scott, the first victim of the columbine shooting, and mr. Scott joins nina. Thank you for being here. I know it has been a long day and probably a draining day. Im curious what it was like for you and whether or not you that they are feeling like this white house is going to take action. I want to just say that dr. Dr. Graham was an inspiration in my life, and i did an interview with him on larry king on forgiveness. Shortly a tt i w abl to speak to his entire staff, and it was such a privilege to sit in the chair at his desk he d sat at for so many years. The world lost a great man t i did feel hope
