Efficacy and we had some fantastic $21.00 me chill out as I watched that down with an incredible $21.00 going yard hot dog that's right I was that Dodger Stadium so I had to do it I got the $21.00 hot dog what do you get it's a 16 and a half ounce jalapeno sausage topped with corn grilled onions sour cream on 2 hot dog buns which the hot dog buns weren't super edible and they also didn't give me a knife so I like caveman style and I picked up that sausage like I'm at the Houston rodeo and just started eating it I went paleo it was delicious and the $21.00 meets the lotto was delicious it's not cheap to go to Dodger Stadium but it was a whole lot of fun and the Dodgers killed the angels the game was already over in the 2nd inning Unfortunately we can't just sit here and do Dodger talk all day long that would be fun but we've got some real things to deal with including once again vision 0 the initiative started by Mayor city in the city of Los Angeles in 2015 to eliminate pedestrian deaths vision 00 pedestrian deaths in 2030 and he wanted 20 percent reductions every single year in pedestrian deaths and for the 1st time they actually went down but not by a lot. Preliminary data from the Transportation Department show that in 2018240 people will killed in car crashes that's 5 fewer deaths than in 2017 but 57 more then a 2015 when we launched vision 0 That's right the campaign to eliminate traffic deaths has still not really done anything for it despite all the road diets across the city and the county executive directive issued by the mayor at the time called for a 20 percent reduction death by 2017 with an emphasis on preventing pedestrian fatalities involving older adults and children meanwhile traffic deaths rose 30 percent in 2016 have only fallen 5 percent since then so it hasn't really worked out we have impacted a ton of roads we've been implemented these road diets they've put up extended bike lanes they put out the bollards they've moved the traffic in we've removed lanes in places like Venice Boulevard and hasn't done anything to help the traffic problem no because cars still got to drive and if you slow down a major thoroughfare Well they're going to move on to side streets where there might be even more pedestrians but hey it's a great street and we've got to show more pedestrian traffic the more we encourage more people to not drive and it take their bicycle the more dangerous it's going to be this is not a place to ride your bicycle in fact in this is my favorite fact of the day did you know that Bicycling magazine. Listed Los Angeles the city of angels city of dreams as the worst city in the country to ride your bicycle all. And yet we keep doing things to encourage you to ride your bicycle despite the fact that it makes 0 sense for almost everybody to commute on your bicycle in a city that is 90 degrees 6 months out of the year in a city where you chances are you're not 5 miles away from your job chances are you're not 5 miles away from the subway so how exactly are people commuting to their work or their school on their bicycle for the most part they're not and I always point out that they've had the road diet vision 0 program on receipt of Boulevard near c. Sun and I drive up down down there all the time because there's a great California chicken cafe right up there on receipt and Nordoff and in the last 2 years that I've seen that street with the green bike lanes and the bollards I have yet to see one bicycle up and down receded Boulevard but we've got to encourage more bicycling and I thought I was a biker I would not bike on the streets of Los Angeles I would find one of the great bike paths like the Santa Monica bike path or the l.a. River bike path before that was invaded by homeless people or the Chandler bike path in the San Fernando Valley before that was invaded by homeless people yet why don't we do something about Vette if you want to encourage more of biking let's have more bike paths that don't have bikes interacting with traffic put bike lanes on side streets because that's what a lot of common sense people would say don't put them on major thoroughfares whether interacting with traffic because you can have all the protected bike lanes that you want cars still have to make a right turn it some point but know it's we've got to make it safer and better for the bikers and the pedestrians even though everything that we're doing doesn't seem . To be working and we're just infuriating more and more drivers because ultimately the goal of vision 0 is not necessarily to make everything safer because we're not doing nearly as many safety improvements as we are reducing lanes because we want to slow down traffic because science shows that a cars are going 30 miles an hour last they're less likely to kill somebody when they hit you you know it makes you way less to get killed when a less likely to get killed in a car accident when you're in a down their car as opposed to being on a bicycle or on or if you're just walking up and down the street it's not a pedestrian friendly city and I don't think it ever will be as long as the way that you know nobody can live where they work because it's too expensive to live in most of the places where there are jobs how exactly is commuting and pedestrian living going to make any sense but we keep doubling down on vision 0 a concept which originated in Sweden Oh I think the city council and the mayor's office and the county board of supervisors could save everybody a lot of time if they would just stop saying in any proposal they do well it works in Stockholm that is the literal Stockholm Syndrome stop saying something would work in Los Angeles because it works in a tiny European country this city is unlike anything things that you think might work in San Francisco and New York do not work in Los Angeles because we are a 70 mile wide metropolitan area if you include the invalid Empire Orange County Palm Dale it's even bigger this city is massive and it makes no sense to encourage more biking but that's what we're doing l.a. County Board of Supervisors wants to implement a pilot program to have even more physical barriers on bike lanes that means that you're going to have cars parked outside of the bike lanes reducing the lane you're going to have that big old green painted bike lane with the bollards they cost a whole bunch of money to put in and it's still dangerous because cars half. Turn right in fact that is one of the biggest complaints of the new My Figaro apparently the city of Los Angeles spent $20000000.00 over 10 years to renovate 4 and a half miles of Figaro and this is where all that measure of money is going this is where all the money go and for potholes is going it takes 20000000 dollars and 10 years to renovate 4 and a half miles of a street that's insane and the people in the cars are not happy about it because now traffic is even slower and one of the slowest streets in downtown Los Angeles and people on their bicycles if there actually are bikers in downtown l.a. Well they don't like it either why because they installed on my Figaro up part stop signs and parking lights for bicycles so they have to stop and let pedestrians go through because sometimes bikers don't respect that Esther and they also have to stop so cars can turn right because guess what cars have to turn right sometimes and they don't have to go into your bike lane to do that because it's the only way it's possible but the people that do ride their bicycles are upset despite the fact that this is not a city for bicycles but let's keep doubling down on everything in fact we've got even more enhancements coming to the San Fernando Valley the l.a. City Council unanimously approved for projects from Bob limited field who I think is a very commonsense city councilmen but even so some of these things that we're doing whether it be vision 00 diets or the great streets an issue is it's one of my favorites because when they do the great streets initiative they want to they want to encourage and incentivize more pedestrian traffic in an area and hopefully get an economic boom to an area and I understand putting more investment in making a street look prettier but I don't know how anybody can call. Sherman way between Linda Lee and Wilbur in receipt of a great street I used to live right next to there because I was in a townhouse before I moved into Lake Balboa I was in a townhouse in receipt. On Sherman way in Tampa just a few blocks away from the literally and Wilbur corridor they're going to spend $2500000.00 for streetscape improvements which they don't say it specifically here but when I hear streetscape improvements and great streets it tells me they're going to install bike lanes and put parking outside those bike lanes which means for that 2 lane corridor or you're going to have to reduce some traffic on one of the busiest streets and let me go off by saying there is a major problem on Sherman way Sherman Way is one of the number one streets in the San Fernando Valley for street racing and that's not something that really happens in the middle of the day but there's something that the city's got to be able to just stop that I used to live right outside I used to live on Sherman way and I would hear speeding cars at 11 o'clock at night constantly but that's a really tough thing to break down on crackdown on and enforce we should be working more to figure that out but what we're going to do is spend 2 and a half $1000000.00 for the great Streets Project in Sherman way between Lindley and Wilbur to encourage more pedestrian traffic and more investment in a great street maybe that will make it a great street but if you've ever been in receipt on Sherman way between Linley and Wilbur let me tell you what's there there's a John supermarket that's pretty gross there's a good will that is real sketchy in the back of it there's about 17 barber shops across the street from each other in that one little mile stretch corridor or and I'm always weirded out when there's so many different places to get your haircut in the same area because I swear half of them are fronts for drug dealing or something if you go to receive that and Sherman way right in the middle of the Wilbur and Lynley Corridor Well there's a big all pawn shop is that that part of the great street there is not one thing about Sherman away in that area that's a great street it's real dumpy it's kind of gross. I know some people are romanticizing it because it was in The Karate Kid one of the only good things about receipt but we could do a little better for a great stream and that street is always crowded it's always busy and if you do anything to reduce traffic on it well it's going to put more traffic on Saturday it's going to put more traffic on Van Allen and that's going to make my day much worse because now I live close to Vanno it stop ruining my traffic everybody it's 580 9 am 70 k.
