Body was spotted by a passer by early yesterday morning here along the side of i76 has been identified as 51yearold sinly augustine of aurora. We spoke with Family Member whos are devastated over her death. Shock, disbelief. Loss. Reporter a family is in mourning after the tragic loss of Cindy Augustine, an aurora woman struck and killed off i 76 in brighton by a hit and run driver. To hear that a car, the car didnt stop. You know, it is something i cant imagine. Reporter her cousin kathy, also a close friend to cindy who grew up with her in wisconsin says she moved to colorado 15 years ago for her love of life and the outdoors. She ran in the marathon. She was always very health conscious. Things to do. Reporter she was shocked to learn of cindys sudden death that leaves many questions unanswered. Police believe she first struck this pole, drove off i76 into the ditch and crashed in the bushes. 911 received two calls from Early Morning drivers reporting a woman walking along the interstate. Then police couldnt find her. Then another driver called to report a body lying on the side of the road. It s Police Believe a motorist struck her and didnt stop. Very, very heartless. She would give you the shirt off her back. Reporter and her cousin is outraged that whoever hit cindy didnt have the courage to stop and help her. Her entire family is praying that someone comes forward. The Adams County Coroner Office says her cause and manner of death are under investigation. Melissa garcia, cbs4 news. So sad, thank you. Tonight, a man is dead after being struck by lightning. It happened friday afternoon west of fort collins. 45yearold chad trovo was standing between two trees when the lightning struck. He was rushed to the hospital but it was too late. Right now, a gunman is on the loose after a shooting in denvers montbello neighborhood. Someone shot a man in the 4800 block of troy street. The victim was taken to the hospital with threatening injuries. Investigators are sorting out what led to that shooting, so far, they have no information about a suspect. The Douglas County Sheriffs Office is looking for the man who robbed a bank in castle pines. Happened this morning at 10 30 at key bank. The man never showed a weapon and no one was hurt. The suspect is a white man around 25 years old. No more information is available. We have a Traffic Alert in denver. Here is a live look from mile home tonight. You may want to avoid driving downtown or use public transportation. Broncos looking for another win in their second game of the preseason. Absolutely. They take on the 49ers tonight at 7 00 and Michael Spencer is live at the stadium. Are we getting closer to a decision on a starting quarterback . Reporter thats right, tonights game will kind of be the cap off of a week between the 49ers and the broncos. The two teams together earlier this week. And tonight, Trevor Siemian will get the start at quarterback. All eyes on that quarterback position as they have been all training camp. Dont look much into Trevor Siemian getting the start. You may remember mark sanchez started last weeks game. But gary kubiak is saying he expects these two guys to play a quarterandahalf each. They played about a quarter each last week in chicago. But it is not really about who starts the game. Kubiak says he wants the guys have an equal evaluation. This game will go a long way into determining who is the starting quarterback september 8. Despite all the pressure, both guys are excited to play a home game and they feel comfortable heading into tonight and heading into their standing in this quarterback competition. I think im right where i want to be. And, i know im competing hard. So thats all i can control. And, just keep working. It will be fun to play at home, no doubt. I think we have the best home field in the league. But, it will be fun. And you know, make thst and not try to do too much. Reporter now, gary kubiak is saying he would like to name a starter after tonights game. The broncos would probably like to have that position solidified before the preseason game number 3 which is pretty much a dress rehearsal. But he would like to. We will see what happens tonight. New tonight, a hiker is recovering after falling in the ken carly valley. Rescuers were able to get that hiker down safely. There were some long lines outside the reeses dental and braces at federal heights. The company gave away free opening of the new office. They had music, give aways, and free food to everyone in line. Today marks the 29th year of the aids walk here in colorado. Nearly a thousand people took part in the event at Cheesman Park this morning but this may be the final year for the walk as Kelly Werthmann explains. Its a great event. Reporter hundreds of people spent their saturday morning walking and running for a cause. Of hiv. Reporter aids walk, colorado is the oldest one day hiv aids fund raising and awareness event in the region. Money raised helps the nearly 6,000 people in the state living with hiv. Last year, we provided a little over 100,000 meals to People Living with hiv. Our Prevention Department last year provided a little over 3500 free hiv tests. Reporter over the years, medicine has people with hiv are living much longer. Event manager Jeff Trujillo says that has created a false impression that aids is a thing of the past ultimately leading to fewer donations. In 1996 i believe, we reached our peak where the event raised 1. 7 million. This year, our goal is to raise 250,000. Reporter as of saturday morning, about 120,000 had trujillo says decreased funding could mean the end of the event. That makes me really sad. That is really disappointing to hear. It makes you want to get out and do more. Reporter event organizers are grateful for the hundreds of people who continue to walk to raise awareness. The hope is these Community Gatherings stay relevant and raise more money to help the many people in Colorado Living with hiv. In denver, Kelly Werthmann, cbs4 news. In the first, senior devin butler was arrested in south bend for battery. Then a trooper pulled a car over for speeding and found five notre dame players inside with marijuana and a loaded handgun. The weapon was not licensed. The University Says it is aware of the situations and will decide on sanctions. Reporter doctors at Longmont United Hospital knew her moms time was coming to an end battling brain cancer. I thought how am i going to do this . I couldnt picture myself going through all of this without her. Reporter so the hospital arranged for taylor to have an ultrasound lying beside her mom before it was too late. She reached over and patted my check which is at that moment, it is kind of when i knew she was still fighting but ready to go as well. Reporter taylors mom passed away just three days later. While the moment will always be bittersweet. You have a daughter. Reporter taylor says she is happy knowing her mother met her baby girl before she was even born. She will know the love my mom had for her. Even without seeing her, my mom what a story. That was Andrea Flores reporting. The mother and daughter will share the same middle name. Now we have the High Pressure ridge gravitating in shutting that moisture down. That will happen again tomorrow as the high moves into colorado. You can see the trickle of moisture coming out of new mexico, mexico, into southern colorado. A few isolated thunderstorms in the southern part of the state. But, they just dont make it up to denver, so we have another dry day. Unfortunately with the high coming in, the heat will come back. So we will make it back into mountains. 40s and 50 across the eastern plains. Tomorrow, a few more 80s show up out east and a few 90s as well. Pueblo. Sterling, wray. Grand junction should be about 92 for their high tomorrow. Overnight, mostly clear. Great evening. We will be in the 50s for the overnight low. Low 50s for that. Then tomorrow, sunny, warmer, 78 at the airport and 89 downtown case you did, you have a 90 degree day coming monday. 85 on tuesday. Then the 70s return on wednesday and thursday. Can you tell . Reporter the pass is a victim of its own success since officials finished paving the road earlier this year, the spike in visits is creating headaches for the managers. It is increasing additional demands on the sheriffs department. Reporter they are looking improvements. The concept that was thrown out regarding toll road on the pass is just a small concept that was thrown out as a possible idea. Reporter but as visits increase, commissioners Say Something must be done to keep up. Matt kroschel, cbs4 news. Now, the county is also considering launching a shuttle to eliminate some of the track congestion. Or maybe charging for parking along the pass. It could take years for any of those options to kick in. Coming up, new video Close Encounter off the coast of canada. Check out this video from canada where kayaker had a Close Encounter with two humpback whales. The mother and calf could be seen jumping out of the water just feet away from the people. The group was on a fiveday look, what a look they got. [ screaming ] they do it when they are excited. You can see in the video that when baby breached, they probably had a really good feeding. The baby is happy. He or she got everything they needed. Mom is just as excited. After a good meal. Some have criticized the kayakers for getting too close to the whales but the guide says the group backed off when th when training for a Half Marathon, why not talk to someone who has won the race . It is about five minutes per mile. So it is to win a bigger race reporter aaron was nice enough to meet with Karen Morfitt and me giving us advice as we trained for our first Half Marathon. With running, your body adapts. Your heart grows, your lungs become more efficient. Reporter aaron has been running ten years. My fastest mile was four flat. Reporter breaking the four minute mile is on his bucket list. For karen and i, we are happy if we can get motivated to get the training done. When you are out the , think. There might be tough patches. [ laughter ] i want to believe you aaron. No, theres highs an lows. The mental game for 13 miles. Yeah. Thats a big part of it. Yeah. I think that is one of my big talents in running. Why i have been good is that i have had the capability of focusing for long periods of time. Reporter so far, karen and i have been focusing on building miles so our bodies miles. As simple as a sport as it is, you are just putting one foot in front of the other repeatedly.
