Speakers focused on how theyre working to stop it through prevention, treatment and Law Enforcement. Cedar Rapids Police, the Us Attorneys Office and the Area Substance Abuse Council were all in on the discussion. Police say last year the city had about 250 cases involving heroin and that much of the heroin is coming from illinois. 13 08 15 you see an increase primarily in eastern iowa on the heroin, beginning to get more reports of it showing up in the central part of the state, more of the des moines ames corridor.
