Early symptoms of Carbon Monoxide poisoning include headache, two red cross emergency shelters are still open for those who still cant get back into their homes. Cedar rapids is also asking everyone in the city to conserve water. As we wait for river levels to fall, to use water wisely. Our water control facility is seeing increased sewer flows from the saturated ground and sewer water thats entered the system. Any reduction will help our crews deal with the higher than normal flows into our Wastewater Treatment plant. The city says people who need to get rid of sandbags should keep them at company to collect them. There will be no charge to homeowners. Solid waste and recycling will not be collecting trash in the flood zone this week, although normal collections are continuing in the rest of cedar rapids. Collection in the flood zone will start on monday. The city has a big cleanup job too. Tv nines Dave Franzman is live at the Linn County Sheriffs Department with more about that. Dave, weve heard what the city is asking people to do with their sandbags barriers . Beth, this hesco barrier in front of the Sheriffs Office belongs to linn county. And this sand will not go to waste. Workers will recover it and it will be used in future road and Construction Projects for the county. Crews are carefully removing the wire reinforced hesco containers to reuse as many as possible in the so the plan is to return as many as possible in good shape. This flood barrier is far enough away from the river to be the first to come down. The sheriffs wants to get personnel back as soon as possible with the office here reopening to the public monday. But its a lot more complicated to take down than put up. Everything is heavier now and harder to get at weve got two rows that butt up against each other so we cant get the lifting hooks in to pick up that front row so it will take some time, at least 34 days the county spent about 100thousand dollars to buy enough hesco barriers for the Sheriffs Office, the jail and the the city of cedar rapids will reuse sand that doesnt come in contact with flood waters. This is a community that has dealt with repeat flooding in recent years. People there say the flood water is almost as high as the flood in 2008. I hate to say we are getting use to it, but we know what to prepare for. People living in Oxford Junction say they dont have any flood protection infrastructur e. Instead, theyve depended a 13 year old boy now faces charges for a shooting yesterday morning that killed a girl in cedar rapids. Police have identified the girl as ireshia parks. She was also just 13. Police chief wayne jerman says the boy accidentally fired a gun in the 800 block of 15th street southeast. The shot hit parks, and she died later at Mercy Medical center. The boy faces charges of interference with official acts. Police have not released his name. Police legally cant release his name because of a new state law. It seals the records of juveniles, except for forcible felony charges, such as murder, firstdegree burglary, and kidnapping. Involuntary manslaughter is not a forcible felony. Two other teenagers face charges of interference with official acts. They include a 15 year old whom the police cannot morrow.
