Fededal law requires the university to issue the warnings, but the one last night didnt give much information. It simply said University Police received anonymous reports of two possible sexual assaults last weekend. One was in an east side Residence Hall on saturday, the other was in a west side hall on sunday. In both cases the alleged victims did not wt to cooperate with police. The warnings didnt even give the names of the Residence Halls. The universitys Public SafetyDepartment Says the vague information is not intended to generate leads for police. Instead, its part of an erall plan to make the community safer. The idea of timely warnings about possible Sexual Misconduct reminds people not to be afraid to report incidents or to seek help. It does help to remind people this type of incident does occur and it when it says the suspect was known to the people to confront that myth its not the person o jumps out of the bushes to hurt somebody. University police say the school could face a 35 thousand dollar federal fine if it doesnt issue alerts in a timely manner about possible Sexual Misconduct on campus. The district says the move will save nearly 400 thousand dollars. But today we looked into how far some of those walks would be for kids. This is how far Dave Schwartz lives from Norman Borlaug elementary. The district is cutting busing for two miles of nine elementary schools. But schwartz says he wont let his three kids walk to the school in the fall because of traffic and the distance. Im surprised that the concerns are real for the district and they have to make some hard choices, but im confused as to why they made this choice as less s an impact on some familiess and some kids. The School District says part of its plan will be to increase busing in some lower income areas. Spring break is making a comeback for Dubuque Schools. So the kids can spend the whole day at the museum while to work. In order to fit in a spring break, administrator s took away a day off from christmas break, and a couple more from around easter time. They added just two days to the end of the school year. A key to that, is big man adam woodbury. Scott westerberg has the story. Iowas depth in the post was an area of concern entering this season after losing aaron white and especially gabe olaseni. But it ended up being a good thing for adam woodbury. I think its really helped woodbury with his confidence. Hes playing a lot more minutes. His s role is obviously much more critical than its ever been. This year it obviously has been. I dont have a great backup like gabe. With the more minutes, you guys have e en the stats gogop and up. Woody is enjoying a career year in minutes played, points, rebounds and shooting percentage. Hes registered double digit rebounds in five of his last six games. Its hard work and a little luck. Just staying aggressive, staying after the ball and just do whatever i can to get on the offensive glass. Had some ones come to me, was fortunate in some sitittions and tried to pursue some others. But where woody receives the most praise from his coach and teammates is on the defensive end. Adams not an elite shot blocker, but thats not how he affects the game most. The w w anchors the defense and the communication he provides and the rebounding. He doesnt make mistakes. He provides an element of toughness that i think every team needs. Especially in our zone where hes kind of the middle guy, he sees everything. Hes really talking to us, being up top is a lot easier. I kind of pride myself on knowing the game, knowing the ins and outs and to be able to read offenses. Thats oo of the iq things that comes into play. I definitely try to help the guys out whenever i can. In iowa city, Scott Westerberg tv9 sports. The uni panthers have found their early season form. Straight. And will try to make it 5 in a row against Missouri State tomorrow night at the mcloed center. Their stars washpun, bohannon and morgan have really been playing well and the role players l le carlson, koch and jesperson have really turned up their games. Paul, clint, bennett i think all three of those guys are in different place. I think their mentality is better the way they have played has helped them with their confidence they are just playing better and then you have an 8 man rotation and three guys who have more confidence and better toughness because they feel better because of how they are playing that makes a big difference.
