There was an alert sent out about an hour and a half ago warning of a suspect to the Champion Center armed with a machete. Folks that are once gym is live on campus he will have an update on that very fluid breaking news. Its good out to a News Conference getting underway as we speak. Everything on campus is normal operations with the exception of the Champion Center we still have a lot of Law Enforcement personnel there. Theyll be there the rest of day. We would ask everybody to avoid the Champion Center area for the rest of the day. 9 15 this morning a 911 call from the Champion Center the report was a man who was menacing with a machete. Part of our campus protocols when we have an emergency like that is to immediately text the entire campus through the tax system to all students faculty and staff. We asked everyone to take protective action at that time. That there was no longer a threat of the Champion Center. Scott will tell you more about the incident. On behalf of the campus i want to thank the Police Department and the quick action and resolving the situation and ensuring that that no one was harmed here on the campus with the exception of the suspect. I will turn it over to scott for more information about the incident. Good morning everybody. The details i will tell you that this is an evolving situation. The investigation is just now Getting Started we dont have a lot affirmed details but what we know so far is ryan indicated approximately 9 15 this morning some kind of an altercation started in the parking lot. Outside of the Champion Center where one of the people involved in that it brandish a sharp weapon. And was menacing with it. At some point that went inside and we received several calls we responded a joint effort between the boulder Police Department in boulder Police Department and able to track the person down who had the weapon. He would not follow commands and so at some point we had to neutralize him im sorry just limit the situation so the threat was no longer there. So we dont know yet anything other than we know that the suspect is dead. It is an ongoing situation weve turned it over to the Boulder County Investigative Team since it was an officer involved shooting to continue this investigation. And at this point ill turn it back over to brian will take questions after that. Coming to us from boulder campus right now you heard from official at the university in police there talking about a bizarre situation they had a guy with some sort of weapon may have been so much worse they took him into custody without major incident. Fantastic job on the authorities part. The whole incident lasting 15 minutes. Thing fully able to streamline communication a text alert went out to the students to let everybody know what was going on. The suspect is behind bars at this hour. Some new evacuation are about to take effect in less than an hour. The governor of florida just held a News Conference telling florida residents to prepare for a direct hit from the storm. It has already hit haiti where it killed five people and injured at least 10 others. And in cuba the storm has washed away about 30 homes. Florida, north carolina, south carolina, and georgia have all declared states of emergency. Governor rick scott is telling people to take evacuation orders seriously. He is ordering another county evacuate as of noon our time. And that shelters are preparing to open up today. These are shelters for special needs, for pet, and for the general population. There are shelters for everyone. There is absolutely no excuse not to evacuate. Governor scott also says he has activated as many as 500 florida this morning and has 6000 more on standby. Were just getting an update on the beulah fire burning southwest of pueblo. Officials say the fire is at 4,845 acres. Its zero percent contained.
