The forecast head into the weekend. Yet 1st of all let me tell you the problem with our entire system of higher education for some crazy reason our philosophy is that anybody who wants higher education should get higher education anybody for example you want to go to community college you know what the requirements are you have to be 18 years old and still breathing in fact I don't even know about the. Having part. Is just you have to be 18 years old and you now are going into higher education and tuition is virtually 0. And that is our philosophy everybody who wants one gets one now you go to other countries where the tuition is free you go to university it doesn't cost any money the state pays all of it so how does that work where we're going to have broken they do it for free because they actually restrict the students that are going in you test into the university and if you don't make it you're not getting in. There actually is a strata and they are actually demanding that students meet a certain requirement to get into university I mean that makes sense to me. The mornings in 6 k. If I am 64 c. Relating to. Why can't you blunt the criticism why can't you know that they're going to say to you it's racist to do away with Dhaka Why can't you say listen this isn't racism this isn't about where you come from or what you know what struggles you've gone through as a person to get to the United States or that your parents went through that's not what it is it is we need to make sure that we can to lock down our borders and make certain that the people who come into this country are here for good but that's what this program was doing exactly how listen and that's what I'm saying why couldn't they have said those words we know that this is a positive thing this is taking people who are dedicated to this country who've only known in this country who want to serve this country whatever it is and we want to help them but we need to do it legally we need to do it in the right way they know that today this criticism is coming and they did nothing to nothing to blunt it right if they could say listen this is simply a constitutional issue it's not a race issue it's not an immigrant versus citizen issue it's a legal question about what is the separation of powers in the it all tell you why it's because they still want to feed that base they still want to feed the base of people that got Donald Trump elected president and the base loves this Kerry and him and we in the mornings it's anything if I am 640 or stimulating. Sells my mother from Camp highs in clouds and fog temps out there tonight lows in the mid sixty's sunny and hot again tomorrow temperatures maybe a degree or 2 cooler than today but still hot guys but seventies at the beaches mid eighty's Metro l.a. Orange County mid ninety's Inland Empire in the valleys and pretty consistent heading to the weekend right now in Laguna Beach 73 are in 72 Santa Clara 80 West Covina 78 degrees we local from 24 hour newsroom kicking off coast to coast I'm Michael Kroger. The numbers. Are. Coming. From the heartland of America and the gateway to the west Good morning good to be with your every you may be across the nation and around the world I'm George Lori welcome to coast to coast am later on tonight your Florida 3 and I don't mean a hurricane one box turn is what's happening with regards to the remarks Florida ratios hurricane or mock the strongest Atlanta hurricane ever recorded so far is feared to hit Florida on Sunday now the 14 remains a dangerous and life threatening Category 5 storm forecast models would put the storm on a track to hit Florida over the weekend meteorologists are being warned its path could change I do believe we may do an intention experiment on Friday to try to diminish this hurricane we'll see what happens Scott Stevens of course noted weather man fascinated with the weather since he was a little kid Scott this one is a biggie. This one is Major simply because of the philosophy of the winds and George it was even still strengthening mid afternoon even at 180 mile an hour winds it was still defining itself and sharpening itself and what is what is concerning is that for the last 48 hours the models have been stated that the Florida coastline and nearly the whole length of it gets raped by at least the outer eye walls of Irma chase I mean a lot of people at Tim Ball on last night Scott he doesn't think the intensity is that bad but I was looking at some video pictures today of areas around the Caribbean they got devastated. They did and we've got more experiences more land falls in the Bahamas come tomorrow and that will also be telling and by this time tomorrow we'll have a much met much better idea of exactly where she is headed the 4 day ever is about 175 miles you get to 5 days and that ever whites out to about 225 miles so we're going to find to this path but if I were in southeast Florida I would already be on the road how our webmaster lets long hood is down that way now isn't there another hurricane after Arma a. Lot of them are spinning up even another one off the Cape there days now so this is going to be a very interesting continuation of September and that we might have true landfall on September 11th as as probably the far north Georgia or southern North Carolina coastline how many years did we go without a major hurricane 1011 years nearly a dozen. And what we're now the popping up like crazy how come. You know we would be supposing we truly would be just guessing. What they're stimulated would you engineering whether there's a relationship with the sun. Well there we've got a few changes on this planet I think all of those you could put into a hat and we'll see how many we pull out with your intention experiments all right my friend will give it a try because you know what it can't hurt resolving the North Korean you Killer crisis is impossible with sanctions and pressure alone according to Russian President Vladimir Putin after meeting his South Korean counterpart adding that the impact of even cutting oil would be worrying as well North Korea plans more weapons tests possibly a long range missile launch before a weekend anniversary Putin denounced North Korea's 6 them largest nuke bomb test on Sunday say in Russia did not recognize its nuclear status and China of course is amping up monitoring for signs of radioactive fallout from North Korea's latest nuke test concerned that contamination could provide a public outcry in force Beijing to harden its approach to North Korea Dr Jerome Corsi in 4 wars dot com has been monitoring this situation with us for months now Jerry it's getting closer isn't it I think so George I mean the White House today briefed Congress on the options and President tribes had extensive briefings on the military options which I think he says correctly are not his 1st choice of the military options are all. In that they could lead to a Very quickly to an expanded war with North Korea attacking South Korea and other scenarios which could lead to Japan being attacked with missiles it's hard to imagine how a even a massive strike on North Korea could be easily contained but Kim Jong un doesn't show any signs of wanting to negotiate the problem George The There's no way to stop King John own because we don't know. He wants I mean it's clear that North Korea wants to become a nuclear power wants to be part of the nuclear club but you know with these aggressive actions do we wait until we see a missile with a nuclear warhead attack Japan or Hawaii or even the United States I mean these it's too dangerous simply to sit and wait to see what happens and that's I think the problem president trumps facing I think you're right Gerri thank you so much talk to you later on this week courts could say how much consumers pay for certain products that they buy online as states have been long complaining about missing out on sales tax revenue they are suing or passing laws to take on online retailers litigation include South Carolina which recently sued Amazon over what it claims is $12000000.00 in lost sales tax revenue from 3rd party sellers while 3 other online sellers sued South Dakota over its tax law in 2 trade groups sued Tennessee as well . I am 640. And welcome back to coast to coast George Norry with you what you're going to hear over the next couple hours and we'll take calls next hour changes with technology and hollar changing the world and predicting the future Rebecca De Costa is an American socio biologist author host of the syndicated radio program The costs to report Rebecca is a leading expert on fast adaption in complex environments and a recipient of the very prestigious Edward or Wilson biodiversity technology award Rebecca cost that was the founder and c.e.o. Of $1.00 of the largest technology marketing firms in California she developed an extensive track record there of introducing new technologies current clients included industry innovators such as the Hewlett Packard Apple computer or coal at 3 am General Electric and here she is talking about her latest work on the verge Rebecca Welcome to the program thank you for having me I'm looking forward to this and did you do the marketing and public relations at that what you did for some of these companies Well mostly we were helping start up to get their message out the door you know I mean it when you think about it when I was in Silicon Valley in the eighty's and ninety's people barely knew what a semiconductor. Let alone you know all of these apps that we have today we couldn't have even imagined that you know we were all just young and nerds that you know no one wanted to date in high school. But they want to date them now don't say her dad who knew that they were going to become billionaires but you know at the time we were lab rats in the in eighty's and you know that leads us to where we are right now because when you think about the seventy's in the eighty's in the ninety's data production you know actually creating the data and getting it extra you know to be accessible to people over the Internet was sort of the Holy Grail but we soon discovered we were producing so much data that you couldn't find what you needed in time you couldn't access it and so the utility of data sort of started to do a nosedive because there was too much of it and you couldn't get what you needed and so we moved out of data production into realizing and recognizing we needed analytics and now we've moved out of analytics into predictive analytics which is a whole game changer let your wrist now you call yourself a socio biologist What is that a sociologist is effectively an evolutionary biologist we look at the evolutionary reason that societies and humans behave the way that they do and I particular interest is the intersection between the limitations of human biology and how fast technology is Excel Excel orating you know we have this weird intersection Edward Wilson says we have we have Paleolithic emotions. You know godlike technology and medieval institutions and you know that he's absolutely right when you have all 3 of those happening at the same time you have sort of a confusion about what's going on when you talk about the future. In other Futurists talk about the future you're not talking about psychically inclined people that say oh my God I might get into a car accident in 3 weeks or something like that you're talking about how technology can change the future but it's easy to predict these days right yeah let me you know it always sounds like science fiction and woo woo but but I'd like to break it down I'm a scientist so I like to break it down into really practical examples for example right we can now predict 3 weeks in advance well when an elderly person is going to fall you can yeah we can we can predict it we can put sensors. In their clothing and we notice that they have a change in their gait I was Ok and within 3 weeks they have an 85 percent chance of. 85 percent that's huge Yeah that's everybody 85 percent chance on the stock it right or on a bit in big you go short gold go for what we're up to 85 percent we can predict when an elderly person is going to fall now let's think about this independent living is directly tied to elderly people falling right so once you can ping someone cell phone and say you're gave his change and you are likely to take a serious fall and injure yourself and you may injure yourself to the point where you can't independently live anymore when we do that analysis on predictive models we see that by simply being able to warn someone that they're in danger of taking a fall and injuring themselves and losing their independent living status. Were able to extend their ability to live alone perhaps in their home by 2 and a half to 3 years that's amazing my father Rebecca ultimately died awful Saul. And you know where everybody thought he was stable but I use 88 years old and you know what I bet his gate changed and yeah and he probably just lost his balance and over he went and bought it and I'm so sorry I'm so sorry we didn't have this technology earlier but we have it now and by the way the gate change is in perceptible by somebody looking wow that's what the sensors can do but it's not just that you know it's what I talk about being able to predict the future it empowers us in a way that humankind has never been empowered before we are dealing with a national epidemic of opioid Addicks right now yes we are and you know that that once you become an opioid addict and you can't get prescriptions anymore the next step is heroin which is cheap right and gives you the same effect as as a prescription opioids so we know that 75 percent of heroin addicts star
