So when you when you say lag the lag is in the launching of an application not once it's running you know once it's running Yeah Ok so programs are slow to launch and how's the boot up time on that. I didn't put it up in a long time Ok I'm going to guess it's going to be a long time usually that's a hard drive this year so there's a couple of ways to address this as computers get older the hard drives get more and more unreliable and sometimes it gets the point where critical files that have to be read in order for that program to run are hard to read the computer is designed not to give up so it will try it says I didn't get it let me try again it will try a few times before it gives up if it gives up then you'll know something's wrong you'll say I can't watch this program is broken but if it just has to do it a few extra times that's enough to make it feel like it's really sluggish. And so. To me this is the most often the cause for lag there are other things that could be causing it you could have something else running in the background slowing it down you know I don't know if you remember when Scott will consider our home theater guy for months we're having trouble with him I see him you don't you're listening on the radio but I see a month Skype and his lip sync was terrible you know he talk and a 2nd later his lips would move and finally somebody in a chair and said Is he running Google Chrome I said why not well yeah he closed chrome the lag went away the minute he opened up Chrome it came back because Chrome is such a hog such a pig that it couldn't work in real time so that's another cause of lag but generally if it's the programs don't launch fast but they do run Ok it's a hard drive issue because remember once they're in memory they're running out of memory not off the hard drive. One still. Occasionally on and when I'm switching from one. That's more a c.p.u. Issue because those are in memory and less you're using swap at that point so this is a swap going from program to program so you'll hit all tab select a program and it will be one or 2 before the window pops up. Something like that yeah how much how old is a computer how much ram do you have. I have not looked into those Ok that's fine I don't and that's fine so it could be that there may be that there is something else running on there and there are ways to figure that out it's a little more complicated you can you can hit control all to delete your on a Windows machine I hope. I hope that I don't hope that but here I don't dismiss you xpect so control delete and then hit and then open the task manager you can in the Task Manager look at what's using a lot of processor and if there's something that's hogging the processor all the time at the top of the list using 100 percent of the processor that could also be we would have seen chrome at the top of that list but sometimes every window is indexing and sometimes it's malware I mean honestly it could also be something bad that you didn't put on your machine doing it so. Hard for me from remote obviously to figure this out but there's a couple of choices often if it's just a hard drive replacing the hard drive in fact replacing it if if you can if you can afford it with an s.s.d.
