Thank you for inviting me into your life today it's such a privilege to come and share the word of God with you and we have been studying in our series 7 things God loves to hear us say. And we're going to be on number 5 today but before we go on to number 5 Let's quickly review the 1st 4 things God loves to hear you say and to hear you pray and the 1st was speaking to Jesus you are the Christ the Son of the Living God Now that's found in Matthew 16 beginning of 1st 13 Let me just read you that one sees when Jesus came into the region of Caesar ia Philip high he asked his disciples Who do people say that the Son of Man is well they replied Some say John the Baptist and some say allies and others say Jeremiah are one of the prophets then Jesus asked them but who do you say that I am and Simon Peter answered said You are the Christ the Son of the Living God and Jesus replied You are blessed Simon son of John because my Father in Heaven has revealed this to you you did not learn it from any human being and now I say to you that you are Peter and upon this rock I will build My Church and all the powers of hell will not prevail against it how powerful that is how loved of God that confession that Jesus you are the Christ the Son of God that is so powerful that Jesus chose that one thing to build His church on that one confession that one realisation that one moment when we go oh jesus is alive and he is the Christ the Messiah the son of the Living God you know our life as a Christian is built on that single truth that single revelation of who Jesus is and so that's the 1st thing God loves to hear us confess and to say and to pray and the 2nd one was this God have mercy on me a sinner that's found in Luke Chapter 18 beginning of verse 9 let me read that to you the Bible says then Jesus told this story to some who had great confidence in their own righteousness and scorned everyone else and here's what Jesus said to me and went up into the temple to pray one was a fair a sea and the other was it is. Spy's tax collector the 1st c. Stood by himself and prayed this prayer I thank you God that I am not a sinner like everyone else for I don't cheat I don't sin I don't commit adultery I'm certainly not like that tax collector over there I fast twice a week and I give you a 10th of all my income but the test collector stood at a distance and dare not even lift his eyes to heaven as he prayed Oh God be merciful to me for I am a sinner I tell you the center the tax collector and not the Fair see returned home justified before God for those who exalt themselves will be humbled and those who humble themselves will be exalted now to become a just for a moment and this to men in some ways alike they both went into the temple to pray today would say they both went to church to pray and yet they were very different and they prayed differently one man prayed I thank you I am better than other people now there are prayers to God loves to hear and God loves to honor but I tell you there are also prayers God hates to hear and will not honor and a prayer that I thank you God I am better than other people is not a prayer that God will enjoy or honor and so the 1st man's prayer fell on the deaf ears of God the 2nd man's prayer did not the 2nd prayer Lord have mercy on me a sinner the Jesus said this man went home justified before God justified meaning just as if I had never sinned this man went home forgiven and that's why I have told you God loves to hear you pray God have mercy on me a sinner The 3rd thing God loves to hear a say and pray is I repent now Jesus His whole ministry was founded on this. This this. Idea of repenting here's let me tell you what the Bible says in Mark chapter one write the beginning of Jesus's ministry in fact the very 1st thing in the Gospel of Mark that Jesus is recorded as saying Is this the time promised by God has come at last Jesus said The kingdom of God is near repent of your sins and but leave the gospel. So here Jesus starts his ministry with the idea repent and God loves it when we repent and with no repentance there is no salvation and fact with no repentance there is no heaven let me read you something Jesus taught in Luke 131 through 5 he taught the importance of repenting return in my Bible to that Luke 131 through 5 and the Bible says about this time Jesus was informed that pilot had murdered some people from Galilee as they were offering sacrifices in the temple do you think these Galileans were worse centers than all the other people from Galilee Jesus asks Is that why they suffered not at all and you will all perish too unless you repent of your sins and turn to God And what about those 18 people who died when the tower of Siloam fell on them where they centers above all else in Jerusalem No I tell you again unless you repent you will all likewise perish. So here Jesus is telling us how important this message is and so that's why the 3rd thing God loves to hear a say is I repent and repent means a radical change from an old way of thinking and a wrong way of thinking to something that is taught by the Bible and accepted by God is the right way of thinking the 4th thing we talked about that god loves to hear a say is Thank You God when we say and when we pray thank you cod we align our minds and our hearts and our souls with God I can just feel it right now as ice as ice sit here part of the microphone and I say Thank You God I can feel the connection I'm making with God and Jesus taught about this in Luke Chapter 17 Let me turn to my Bible to that and I'll read you what Jesus taught is beginning of our celebrity as Jesus continued on tour through slim he reached the border between Galilee and Samarium and as he entered a village there 10 lepers stood at a distance crying out Jesus Master have mercy on us and he looked at them and said Go show yourselves to the priests and as they went they were cleansed of their leprosy and one of them when he saw he was healed came back to Jesus shouting Praise God he fell on the ground at Jesus' feet thanking him for what he had done and this man was a Samaritan and Jesus asked didn't I heal 10 man where are the other 9 has no one returned to give glory to God except this foreigner and Jesus said to the man stand up and go your faith has healed you and if you are listing the week I taught on this. We talked about how important it was to give thanks to God how important it is for us to be the 10th man the person who comes back to God and how it's probable that only one in 10 people really give thanks to God when God does great things for them and we must be like this temple man so those are the 1st 4 things God loves to hear us say and today I would speak to you about a new subject and this is the subject of love and in the process of studying love we will discover the 5th thing the god rejoices to hear when we say and pray it now love is something we cannot fully comprehend in our earthly human minds it is too high for us is too deep for us is too grand for our minds to fully grasp and yet the Bible calls us to love to love God and to love our fellow Christians and even to love those who would be our enemies now hear what Jesus instructs us to do in Matthew 543 through 48 let me turn in my bibles at that and here's what Jesus said You have heard the law that says Love your neighbor and hate your enemy but I say to you love your enemies for a for those who persecute you in that way you'll be acting as 2 true children of your Father in heaven for he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike if you love only those who love you what reward is there for that even the corrupt tax collectors do that much if your kind only to your friends how are you different from anyone else even pagans do that but you are to be perfect even as your Father in Heaven is perfect so here Jesus says we should love our enemies. Now let's look at John 13. 34 and 35 I'll read that to you and here's what Jesus said in that passage a new commandment I give to you that you love one another as I have loved you that you also love one another by this all will know that you are my disciples if you have love one for another now the Bible says in fact Jesus taught that this is a new commandment it's not a suggestion it's a commandment and it was also a passage that includes an example that we should love others as Jesus has loved us so here we see Jesus commanding us to love all the evil and the good the saved in the end say our enemies and their friends now why would Jesus command us to love it's not for his sake but for our sake he commands us to live so we can fully reach the full potential God has for us the full statue the highest calling God is calling us to be like him a reflection of him and we love others we are acting like God and John and 1st John 4738 we read Beloved let us love one another for love is of God and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God He that loves not doesn't know God For God is Love God is love that's the truth I don't believe we can fully grasp but it is a truth nonetheless God is love now note the Bible does not teach that love is God that's something we believed in the sixty's love is not God but God is love. Someday we're going to see God face to face we're going to live in a turn to be with God and you know what will be what that experience will be like when we are living with God you know what will be like to be in heaven with God there will be Majesty Yes there will be glory Yes there will be power yes they'll be spiritual riches Yes but the overwhelming feeling the primary sensation of being and have and will be the feeling of perfect unfailing radiating love God's love for us and in turn our love God and 1st John $416.00 we read God is love and he that dwells in loved wells and God for God is love the theme of the whole Bible could be summed up like this is the true story of God's Love for mankind for me and you the Bible is a true love story our Christian faith is a true love story the most famous person the Bible John $316.00 tells us this and here's what it says For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life now does that they must 1st say God so like the world no God found the world entertaining no God wanted to punish the world no God wanted to judge the world No it says God love the world now here's a more modern translation of John $316.00 God loved the people of the world so much that He gave His only Son God loved so much that he gave and here you see loving creates giving. Loving is followed by giving and that's a key to understanding what love is true love leads to giving lust on the other hand leads to getting While true love leads to giving and 1st Corinthians 13 sheds light on what love is let's read that here's what the Bible says in 1st Corinthians chapter 13 if I could speak with all languages I'm on earth and of angels but didn't love others I would only be a noisy gong or a claiming symbol if I had the gift of prophecy and if I understood all of God's secret plans and possessed all knowledge and if I had such faith that I could move mountains but I didn't love others I would be nothing if I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body I could boast about it but if I didn't love others I would have gained nothing Love is patient and kind love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude it is not demand it's own way it is not irritable it keeps no record of being wrong and it does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the Truth Wins Out Love never gives up never loses faith is always hopeful and endures through every circumstance prophecy and speaking in an unknown language and special knowledge will become useless but love will last forever now our knowledge is partial and incomplete and even the gift of prophecy reveals only part of the whole picture but when a full understanding comes these partial things will become useless when I was a child I spoke and thought and reason as a child but when I grew up I put away childish things now we see things imperfectly as in a cloudy mirror but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete but then I will know everything completely just as God knows me completely 3 things will last forever they hope and love and the greatest of these is love now we have studied that God is Love God is the creator of love and the source of all law and when we act in love towards our When we act in love we towards others we are experiencing God acting through us now the bible calls us to love people but not to love money or things now money is necessary money can be helpful can feed our families and help the poor this radio brat broadcast takes money so money is really neither good nor bad but the Bible tells us that the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil so we are called to love people not money or things now what do we call to love we've talked about how we're called to love people both our enemies and our friends can you think of any thing else or any person that the Bible calls us to love other than people what else is a bible calling us to love what Person Can you think of it let me read to you what Jesus said in Mark 1220 beginning in verse 281 of the teachers of religious law was standing there listening to the debate and he realized that Jesus had answered well so we ask him of all the commandments which is the most important and Jesus replied the most important commandment is this listen to Israel our God is the one and only Lord and you must love the Lord your God with all your heart with all your soul and with all your mind with all your strength so this is. The other person that the Bible calls us to love and that's to love God himself with all our heart with all our soul with all our mind with all our strength and this is real Christianity real Christianity the thing that Christ is calling us to is not a Sunday kind of thing it's not where we drag ourselves to church on Sunday and get our weekly dose of God and then live the next 6 days without thinking about God No Jesus calls us to love God with all our heart on Tuesday Wednesday on Thursday on Friday on Saturday night to love God with all our soul and all our mind and all our strength every day and if we love God this way here's some of the things we might do 1st when we wake up in the morning we might have as our thoughts i love you guys when we begin our day at the office or on the job or at home we might be saying I love you Lord we stop for lunch and pray over our food we might in the prayer with and I love you father who we say good night to our children we might lead them in a simple prayer and in it with I love you Jesus we fall asleep we might be thinking thank you for this day and remember I love you. And that brings us to the 5th thing that God rejoices to hear us say and to hear us pray and it is simply this I love you Lord I love you God I love you Jesus why because Jesus said we should love the Lord our God with all our heart and with all our mind and with all our strength this is I think easier for women than men and there are some people who have difficulty saying this and if you're someone who has difficulty saying this I want you to pray out loud for me with me right now just repeat after me father. I ask you to open my heart to loving you and help me say and help me pray I love you Lord amen here we're going to take a short break and when we return I'll give you my final thoughts on this subject we hope that you're being blessed and encouraged by today's message from mostly Collins he's available to speak at your church Christian group or Bible study there's never a charge for his ministry if you have questions about today's subject or you wish to invite Mosley to come speak to your group you can reach him at 916-444-4444 you can also request a copy of today's message just dial all fours for help or more information now let's get back to today's message we've been talking about how God rejoices to hear a say and to hear us pray I love you Lord. And why should we love God because He 1st loved us and saved us in Romans 56 we read when we were utterly helpless Christ came at just the right time and died for us and Romans 58 God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we're still sinners 1st John 410 says and this is real love not that we love God 1st but that he loved us 1st and sent his son as a sacrifice the take away our sins now listen to this wonderful powerful destiny changing promise can taint in Romans 828 we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are the called according to his purposes for them now looking at the scripture just for a minute it says we know that God causes some things no God causes a few things no God causes everything to work together for the good of those that love God you know that problem you're worried about that illness of that betrayal the failing all these things God causes to work together for our good everything you're facing there is nothing outside the everything that God will cause to work together for your good if you love God so this is the thing God rejoices here a say in pray I love you Lord the 1st time you compare that it may seem a little hard to say but we need to go on saying it and every time we pray it. It's strengthening us is connecting us and God is rejoicing in us you know the Bible teaches there are there is an unseen world out there a spiritual world of angels and demons are rulers of spirit and of spiritual principalities that see an
