Post free agent overload we had the crazy story involving Leonard earlier today in which he was reported that when the Spurs tried to check up on him recently in New York City he was dodging the Spurs they got to the building he was in and people are sure to him into another room and it's it's absolutely insane but one of the stories before we get to Le Bron James and more on the Western Conference something that you and I are going to get into. We mentioned Kyrie Irving at the end of last hour and how he's that big domino in a loaded class of 2001 team and the last couple of days has been good days if you're a Knicks fan a good day not a good day if you're a Celtics fan because Kyrie Irving has dropped hints that yeah I'm going to be receptive to the Knicks in free agency maybe Jimmy Butler who now he suddenly has a huge name because he's not getting along with Carl Anthony Towns in Minnesota he could go with Kyrie because they're friends they could play there Jimmy Butler could also come someplace else because suddenly now he might be someone who's tradeable What do you make of the Kyrie Jimmy Butler stuff the last couple of days well they are close friends and they definitely would like to play together Jimmy Butler also though is more of a Hollywood guy and there's is there some talk that he could end up with the Clippers I He's a guy that might want to go to the Clippers so you could be looking at maybe Co I learned and Jimmy Butler with the Clippers. But Kyra me Butler in New York I think that be tremendous I tweeted this the other day yesterday can you imagine Christakis forcing is Jimmy Butler and Kyrie Irving in New York. Second you know. David physical I'm so happy with with his Daler writ very good coach I mean the reason I like that and I know I like the Celtics I'm very excited about seeing what the Celtics looked like this season with already was a very good team we know they took the Cavaliers the 70s in Conference Finals now you're adding Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward I think is going to be tremendous to see them play so I'm not trying to get carry out of there however what I am saying is if Khoury left them and went to New York particularly with Jimmy Butler you that would add another elite team to the Eastern Conference because Boston. Wouldn't fall off I mean they might not be quite as good without Kyrie but they would still be a very good team may still be a conference contender you have Philadelphia then you have New York and I think Milwaukee is going to be a lot much improved this year with my boot Holzer as the coach so that's why I'd like to see would be love to see Kyrie in New York because it will resurrect the Knicks and give us another elite team and here's the thing look Kyrie is in a tremendous situation he was very fortunate to get traded so Boston because he could have got traded somewhere that was no man's land and began you know uses great ball handling skills and all that in relative anonymity outside of the playoffs instead he goes to what is now the best team in the Eastern Conference big market great coach great front office lot of talent young talent around him lot of assets great fan base I mean there's nothing he could ask for more but Kyrie has a god is already wanted title been hit the game winning shot in game 7 I mean no bigger stage and what he did it on I wouldn't be shocked like if you're a Celtics fan you're not going to know if calories going to stay until he signs on the dotted line meaning you can't get most in most situations you would be able to say he ain't leavin here right we've got a great team we've got a great coach we're going to be we're going to run the east for the next 7 years he's the best player he'll be a superstar we're going to win championships but with Kyrie Heck I can see them winning a championship next year and am still going to New York and I know ratty went with the letters Iana see everybody it wouldn't be the worst thing in the way you leave it on the top is always good to leave on top and no to me if you leave a team on top nobody can rip you. If nobody can say anything why what do you like your goal you would be a pro you be a made man he's already pretty much a made man with his title in Cleveland but if you want to get in and then say Let me go to New York and resurrect the Knicks then guess what the batter would be on the see who could lead a 3rd team to a championship 1st Le Bron or Kyrie right because that's been the whole thing with the crowd nobody's ever really not granted Kyrie didn't lead them you know in Cleveland Lebron did because he was robbing and he was a superstar he was like he was like Colby Audi's case he was like Colby was Shaq right Shaq can the done it without Colby and Le Bron can a done it without Kyrie so it would be so many great story lines here's though let me say this because I know you're a New York fan Here's the one thing. I really has to think about before going to New York and I love the Knicks front office I love Coach David Fiz Dale I love New York in general and I love for them to have a great team again however. Well you went through it is and by our However many have tried let me go through the list Larry Brown I've called New York the Knicks where legends go to die let's just go through the coaches boy and front office people Larry Brown they're still paying Larry Jackson Yeah I say it's time Miss Lenny Wilkens Yeah all Hall of Famers all legends all basketball royalty all left New York in Shane. On the court I'm Ari Stott m r Yeah Carmelo Anthony Tracy McGrady older I know Hardaway older I know Steve Francis older I know but still. Steve Novak Yeah I know lawless none of them could do it like now I don't know what it is but nobody has been able to deliver in New York since Patrick Ewing and I know Patrick didn't get a title but still it least you know they were legit contenders in the financing I just ran into Michael Jordan Yeah but that's the one thing Kyrie has to think about and if he can get past that I'd love to see him in the blue and orange Well here's the thing I'm number one let's mark the tape on that so I can put it on my phone so I can listen to it over the course of the Colts into the conversation about Le Bron's being able to win a championship and we look at This year ago Ok no way it could happen the West is too tough the West too loaded the East thinks and look the door is more open for Le Bron than you think 1st of all with a win a title yet 1st of all with the East you have the Celtics in the 70s that I'm not buying that it's that the East is suddenly all in a sham it's awful because you have 2 teams that are going to be good for a long time I think the Saudis are going to win the title this year they go one through 8 deeper than better than anybody in the league they have a combination of elite players young good hungry players in roles that are perfect I kind of compare them to the Seattle Seahawks the beginning of their run when they had that combination of elite players plus young hungry players and this is where this is their window now to go do what you eat chicken wings I love chicken when I bet I love chicken wings all right but I got golden state you got last night I like it I think there are little that to see all right I mean I got it for me I would love it pepper honey sweet barbecue Ok I like that yeah Ok I How many Let's see how many wins it takes to win a championship we know that when we get all the way and be 70 you talk about playoffs so times are when messing about on 4 rounds a play all 16 so 16 what are you just read and we said There you go I'm a game one of the 1st round Jason Tatum scored 40. And now you look at the West and Ok let's see yes absolutely the the Warriors are on top the rockets may not be as good this year they may lose Clint Capello they may get him back a better bring him back but I mean I can see them not bringing him back but they are real last forever yeah they lost a reason and they're relying on Chris Paul to be healthy which one thing you know about Chris Paul is he's not going to be who you are not a c.p. 3 because he'll be fine until the moment they need him the most and then he will get 2 years ago he did play in the playoffs 7 games because you thought they lost the one series he played a lot they lost and then the other the other 3 years he gets hurt he just can't stand up to the pounding anymore even a healthy Chris Paul in Game 7 against the Warriors if he goes ear 000 It doesn't matter and the Rockets probably win because James Harden is not exhausted and is able to you think they would have won series all if he was healthy because he would have taken some of the responsibilities away from James hardwood not to bring the ball up every single time would have been able to give him a break but Harden was exhausted he had nothing left in those last couple of games so now Houston is going to take a bit of a bit of a dive down are the Blazers going to take a big jump No they didn't really have anybody and they may wind up losing if Damian Lillard winds up getting traded Oklahoma City is interesting but all they did was bring back a guy in that didn't really help them get any further last year than this year you got the Jets maybe they're good maybe Donovan McNabb He's got a big I mean we're going to you know Ok but you know the pelicans nobody cousins but look there are a teenager you had or without right but there are 4850 lame isn't looking. And they made some other additions and they have other young talent that now is not going to play as prominent a role which is probably a good thing because look as good as Brandon Ingram is he's still a guy's player efficiency rating is 2 points below the league average so now suddenly you look at the west you go away to minute this is this is here for Le Bron Le Bron I can see a scenario where they forget about getting into the playoffs finishing 3rd winning a 2nd round they've improved when he when they 1st year this year I now expect after the Lakers signings moving on depending where things go from here the Lakers should be in the Western Conference Finals what could be the rock if this is the right play the war they can play the Warriors in the Western Conference finals to get to the n.b.a. Finals they can get there though just getting Le Bron on Saturday I said Ok there bar is they can get to 3rd in the Western Conference and getting to the 2nd round now making these additions see what's still out there like I'm I Well yes because I like defensively but this is going to be a really good defensive team that's what I like about them is that now they need somebody that can make shots and he's somebody that when Le Bron is is triple covered Who are you to get the ball to is going to be able to get a shot that that's what they need but this is still a Western Conference where Le Bron can get to the finals and I expect to see Lakers warriors in the Western Conference Finals Le Bron falls short in the end the war is won because the war is just a better team well look any time you have Le Bron James you have to give the team a chance. I think the Lakers are in that 2nd batch below Golden State in Houston I think yeah Golden State Houston and then you got a group of teams the Lakers the thunder the Blazers right now I'll say Minnesota Utah like they're all you Orleans New Orleans I think number 2 I think you lose Randall's a good addition I hate lose in Iraq Iran too if I'm them he was huge for them playoff Rondo as well he was tremendous he's a winner but that you know I think there's that group of teams and I think the Lakers are in it. But you know I don't see them winning the West I don't see them having a chance to win the West but I like some of the things they've done look what what defensively what you're referring to I think they're taking a page out of Houston Rockets book and saying look at how Houston got golden stay out of its game they were able to switch everything and they've built a team where you could have lineups where you essential he could switch everything and when you switch everything what it does is it forces the other team to play isolation basketball it basically becomes almost street ball at that time because you're switching everything so that this picks in stuff don't really work so now it's about Ok can I take this guy one or one and now you can counter it and Golden State when they did it and stayed in their motion often it's and their game plan that's when they were able to play well against used in and beat him but at times it's very tempting it's very easy to get out of your off and go iso and that's where Golden State is vulnerable because as great as they are when they go I so want to a one there just like any other elite team what makes them special is their ball movement player movement all that stuff so I think that's what I think it defensively and where you're not I differ. Because I like the Lakers probably not quite as much as you but I do think they're going to be a very good team and I think Le Bron got a great chance to win m.v.p. Because if he gets in the say 53 wins and home court advantage in the 1st round he's probably going to be the m.v.p. So many puts up his typical numbers but what what what I think with the Lakers is there's a story a e.s.p.n. Dot com Ramona Shelburne And Bronwyn horse yesterday I think it came out saying that Le Bron was going to play differently it really pay the picture of Le Bron playing with in a system versus being the system I like that Le Bron James is so tremendous at basketball that he can be the system and as the system he can make your team really really really good if he's got a few of the good players he'll make you a contender but as the system and a centrally a one man show you can be a talented group of guys that play team basketball and can shoot like the Spurs who beat him in 2 $1014.00 and the warriors who've beaten them several times recently so I like the idea of them playing in the system and Le Bron being a part of it make it will make it easier on him less taxing knowing him and if they get the right players around him they could be tough I know what let's cap this with this Who do you think is happier Laker fans Le Bron is in l.a.
