Investgators tell fox 28 news a troopers decision to open fire on a suspects car was justified. Justified. The shooting followed a high speed chase that ended at a gas station in riverside. Thats where a suspect rammed his car into a Johnson County deputys cruiser. The trooper shot out the cars back tire to keep the suspects from getting away. Three people were taken into custody. The Iowa AttorneyGenerals Office determined the shooting was an appropriate response because the deputys safety was in jeopardy. Now an update to a story fox 28 news has been following since last month. Month. The Iowa Department of Public Safety says an explosion at a cedar falls motel was a suicide attempt. They say a man blew out a pilot light several hours before lighting a cigarette, triggering the blast. The man later died from his injuries.
