Back in the Weather Center with Rebecca Copeland and we have been watching the situation for several weeks. It building to whats been happening in the next several rains. Weve seen the scenario and seen the heavy rain. It had a lot of moisture in the atmosphere and now it has built up to an event that could be serious for many areas and has been in the city of greene where we saw a lot of rain. We will share people our doppler estimates of how much rain fell in floyd, butler and Chickasaw County last night. These our doppler estimates usually this is reliable. We are getting estimates that were greater than 13 inches not too far away from greene. In the city of greene we have had a total confirm of 10. 4 inches of rain and we had another in southern florida county of 11. 25. These are verifying. We had heavy rain that is now going to continue downstream. We had heavy rain in northern parts of iowa. You could see around decorah there has been over 50 inches of rain this year at this point in the year a typical amount would be about 28. 22 inches. And this makes the wettest year on record. Thats right. In 1993 we had 48. 47 inches and that was the previous record. This is a new record for annual rainfall and it is not the end we are just in september. We have three more months ago. That gives you an idea how wet and soggy its been in the Northern Counties and all that moisture has set the stage for the flooding. We still have additional rain to go to tonight and because of that here are flooding issues. We have flood warnings that extend north of highway 20 and that is because of all the saturated ground including where decorah and allamakee will now be going downstream into the cedar. Take a look at the river levels that we are expecting on the cedar river. That will have major flooding all up and down its course and you can see cedar falls we are expecting a crest of 97 and have feet. Thats down from 2 feet from earlier. That is still major flooding and waterloo the crest is anticipated at 22 feet. That is also down a little bit. Invented we are holding to t that would be sometime later on sunday and in cedar rapids we are anticipating 24. 1 feet. Based on additional rainfall tonight how much falls or does it will make a difference as to where that crest and that. That is in flux. It could go up or go down a little bit. We will know more once we get to tonight. The bottom line is when you get to 24 for crest in cedar rapids theres where the river typically and this is where it goes when you get to the 24 foot level. You can see that it spreads into downtown and the residential areas. Here is our Flash Flood Watch and that extends of southwestern wisconsin and into our viewing area. This has extended another 12 hours for the potential of more rainfall tonight. As we go its in the developing stages of the lowlevel jet starts to kick in. Were seeing locally heavy rain and the stunt thunder storms of the west extend along highway 20 back to manchester and what you get to waverly additional thunderstorms are shown there. These will extend into North Central iowa. As a start going into the south east there will be more heavy rain particularly in the northern and Central Counties flash flooding but the river flooding that we are expecting in eastern iowa. As we take a look at the predictor this is what our model is expecting. At 11 00 you can see the storms. By 1 00 they are rolling across the Northern Counties and at 3 am a are up there. At 5 am the rain is still coming down. The threat will be around until tomorrow morning and hopefully a break as we get into the late Morning Hours and some of the starts to lift the region. As far as rainfall goes, this is our latest model and it is showing around 3. 38 inches in the waterloo area. The Northern Counties could see what to 3 inch totals but some amounts could be higher than that. You can imagine what three or 4 inches into waterloo could mean. Tonight we will have scattered showers and some of those will be heavy particularly in the with lows in the 60s. For tomorrow warm and muggy and scattered storms early in the day and maybe a few in the afternoon. You can see warm front in the central part of our area. On saturday, we are looking for a break around here. On sunday another disturbance rolls through and that has a chance to produce more heavy rain and finally beyond that much cooler air comes into the midwest diminish those showers and were not expecting and issues to the middle of next week. Tonight more heavy storms are forming to the north. Thats not something we want to see. Keep us posted. We sure will. Next i will introduce you to a family Construction Busine
