The Iowa AttorneyGenerals Office now says t t trooper was stified because another officers safety was in jeopardy. The shooting followed a high speed chase that ended at gas station. Thats w ere the driver of the car rammed into a Johnson County deputys squad car. The trooper shot out the cars back tire to keep the suspects from getting away. Fire crews this morning spent hours battling a fire at the Amana Colonies Golf Club anan event center. Weve seen several people come here today to take a look for themselves at what happened. And staff who have talked to us say its all gone. Colleen koss, resident 1 35 i mean we all woke up kind of in shock. Close to four oclock friday morning fire crews arrived to find the amana golf club and event center in flames. The generara manager says he wondered how bad the fire would be as he drove toward the towering smoke. Patrick kilbride, Amana Colonies Golf Club and event Center General manager1 10 you drive up here over the hill d you kind of see that theres maybe one wall of the clubhouse thats still standing. Its like. Wow. Theres absolutely nothing left. Kilbride says he doesnt think anyone was there when the fire startedthe fire chief says it started on the north side near the pro shop. He says they had to use a hose from the south side at first because the smoke, flames and heat were too intense. Chris herr, fire chief 48 the north end of the building, approximately one third of it was fully engulfed. Golf carts had started on fire on the outside also because of the e heatit took about two hours and the help of three other departments bringing in water to fight the fire. 1 55 we had oxford fire, norway fire, fairfax fire and we had probably six to seven tankers.
