Until coming on the great American a few nights ago cancer Herridge a Fox News wrote a story entitled Clinton State Department silence them on Benghazi security lapses contractor say and they were on with. Tucker Carlson a few nights ago Brad Owens of the tour as firm who was personally on the ground in Benghazi 6 months before the raid and was in charge of Gehring up to take over guard duty when the events took place of Sept to September the 11th 2012 resulting in the murder of u.s. Ambassador Chris Stevens Foreign Service officer Sean Smith and former Navy SEALs Ty Woods and Glen Doherty and these individuals Brad Owens and others were told to shut up before the 2012 election and thereafter because the behavior of the Clinton State Department and the Obama White House was so bad that at the truth got out about Benghazi before the 2012 election Obama would not have served a 2nd term Joining me now is that same brand Owens Brad Owens welcome I think for the 1st time to the Bill Cunningham Show brand how aria I mistakenly am I'm good sir but let's talk about what happened for those who thing. Bengazi is some Italian sports car many of the American people because of a like a media reporting on Benghazi going back almost 5 years him rather opaque view about what happened so here we sit in August of 2017 going back a few months before Benghazi September 11th 2012 and talk about the security difficulties in Benghazi before the September 11th attack. Ok Sure well I'm more I'm a private military private security contractor not been working for a you know around the world I've spent a lot of years in the military and so I actually went into that business and got a job working for a company called Tor is that they have set a price systems helping them get contracts and manage contracts for embassy security. A project manager at an embassy for security guard force for a few years and so I got hired by them to come in and help manage their programs. At the time Torres was a pretty large company had about 49 security contracts Iraq Afghanistan Africa South America Europe and you know I could convince the c.e.o. To let me take the team into Libya and this was the war was still going on so he came in through Tunisia's right after the fall of Tripoli but the idea that we would be there to help out with any security needs or anything that any other type of services we provide to the embassy which was just getting way to reopen there so I spent quite a few months there on the ground got to know the regional security officer Eric Nordstrom and Bill and the folks that provide security for the State Department internally and we're trying to work on some security solutions. I travel down out of the country to go look at another contract and there came a tender out to provide security at the embassy consulate compound in Benghazi for those who don't know you know Tripoli is over in the Western so. The country thing was easier with the eastern part of the country and kind of where the rebellion had began and it was what was considered we call a fallback embassy physician she Kirti situation in Tripoli had deteriorated significantly and so the embassy was looking for a position that if they had to remove their personnel from Tripoli they were going to fall back to this position in Benghazi which was an interesting choice because in the eastern part of the country as were a lot of the radicals for a lot of the radical elements like what would be called ISIS today that they were called Alonso or Al Qaida in Africa one of the dozens of the bad dude yeah bad guys that guy's not exactly friendly towards us but they were hanging around that one of the country so the tender came out and I traveled and and I was actually on the compound that's at the site security survey so the company and we did you know these things go out for bid and we were this we were the sole company that that on this contract was 1st left and this would have been in February of 2012 so this would have been you know 6 or 8 months before the attacks. State Department contracting officers kicked it back and said we had to get at least one more bit in there which is really odd because they normally don't do that and then there was a small company which it had a couple of guys on the ground called Blue Mountain group out of Wales u.k. And they beat us by 4 percentage points on the price a lot of people don't know that the State Department is found by a $990.00 law that requires them to go with the lowest bidder that's technically except the yeah. And you know so it's an interesting such as kind of a race to the bottom. I would note also that you know we were the only licensed security company legally operating in Libya at the time we had partnered with the only remaining security company after the regime still with the team in a thing that was then called after was security. Atmel security guarded a few hotels and that's all they did so the other 2 security companies were regime guys so on them again Phil there was no active security company and with the except Atlas so we came to with them and so we were they literally the only legitimate flights of scope and it competed for that it went through you know this teeny tiny little you know whales that nobody ever heard of now into the back of her head like jumping and August unorganised there was a memo from the embassy saying this thing is getting much worse we can't control and a few days before the attack it got worse I guess the issue is this and to the vicious attack took place the Obama administration struggled to answer questions about the attack they come up with this anti Islamic video was the reason the demonstration it was a demonstration that got out of hand when this came out and then the dead bodies of our heroes came off the plane and now Hillary Clinton tells the surviving spouses and family members that don't know a darn entire Islamic video well what went through your mind when you knew that was a lie well I mean that is pretty interesting to say that because 12 days before the attack they reached out to us to end this and Taylor who's the contracting officer of this who had made the poor decision about anyway reached out to us and asked us to come in and take over the security a lot of people don't know that that's one of the things we're finally telling us that the State Department you know knew that the security was inadequate fair they knew that the 17th mortar brigade that was their problem Lubell and you know Blue Mountain was being forced out we watched that you know and at 1st here's the thing I didn't know you know I mean when you 1st see something because I'm a patriot and I want to believe my government or Russia but you know I want to believe it but I talk to guys on the ground immediately have to cut the power as to what context there is they told me immediately that these were foreign fighters but it come here and that you know this was not a demonstration this was an attack it so well I knew within 24 hours of the attacks that a lot. It's been put out the perspiration absolute law and they knew at the time they did it according to books written afterwards the Obama administration was in political overdrive they could not run a campaign against Mitt Romney in which the number one theme was that g.m. Is alive and Osama bin Laden is dead they could not in their watch have a successful and nother 911 attack so they had to lie for the next 8 weeks to keep the pressure on through the election was that what was behind the lies. You know I don't know what was behind the lie but it was a lie and I know that there was a memo that went out by one of the same your administration officials that at this get these talking points in it and they said you know you know rice and all those guys out to toe the line but it's a very I would say by my assessment to ferry actors they say that the administration knew that what they were putting out once absolutely false the reason they put it out absolutely false you can probably so much because of fact they were in the middle of a political season. That's why I actually don't believe you know you're Do you realize maybe your listeners may not know Richard believe that not one single state department employee was fired over think. Why that would be an admission of guilt of course not to bomb is number gone he still thinks it was some some a protester e-e things it was some Islamic video in fact he said that it is u.n. Speech about about 2 or 3 weeks later in 2012 he blamed this antis Lummy video for the reason and want to bomb is said that through his own words through his lips he knew it was a damn noble lie when he said it correct. Well there's no doubt the person has better intelligence than I would have been I would hope so and so certainly didn't know it was there was not sure but again you can't just step out there and tell the truth that's what we're coming forward now to structure it outside of the cult for just this 5 years since the attacks we have a new administration and we actually believe 'd that some changes put place now that never would have been possible at. It will reclaim the election and so I'm hoping now that the politics will be out of it. Hopefully. You know some of these teachers take guys and you know the State Department employees Mr Cunningham to answer to no one mind numbing if you look at this 10 top and you know they're in their protected so if you look at the top and it's you can you can make mistakes up to and including getting people killed sir and you don't get fired let me ask you didn't eat this question was asked by Tucker Carlson the other night of you and this is why did you wait 5 years to come out about the information about what the State Department knew and when they knew it you were on the ground these 4 American heroes were murdered and they didn't have to happen now way and then the lies afterwards why did you wait 5 years. Well there's a couple of reasons the number one reason was because we have a large number of employees you know we had at the time of this attack we had about 8040 s. Were down about 6 now but we have thousands of employees that fend off us for their livelihoods that was won and so the way these people work in state if you bring up problems like this or you don't play ball they punish you they start making sure you don't win contracts because of technical reasons or they but if you like your evaluation so that you have that about you ation so that you can't get a contract. They're very very powerful people these mid-level contract officers are and the other reason is because there's been a change of administration that's one thing you know we now believe things will actually be done but I'll tell you something else on a personal note I done this type of work for a lot of years I spent more than half of my adult life overseas and that could have been me don't be my daughter right now not a dad that could be my wife greeting me as a widow that could be my mom and dad who's lost their son it could be my son my son's a military police officer and he does or so on foreigners is that there's a human factor. And I want to say their names Chris Stevens Glen Doherty Tai woods and Sean Smith they do have names they are human beings they were and you know what to me human life has value and there is no justice for Benghazi that's one of my personal reasons I would like to see the rules changed so that this you know that these stupid rules these contracting rules change and I would like to see these contracting officers held accountable and I would like to see the people that put them up to whatever they were doing trying we held accountable sure this in fact one of the plan matters of what you said was that you could not be armed am I correct Yes As a matter of fact there was a we you know this the the soft power lead from behind sort of management of the State Department for the past you know 8 years led to this culture of what we call you know trying to not present a tough image or an aggressive image so the problem that we have with that is security people it's just not my job whenever you put security personnel in a position what are you using them as a diplomatic tool here you fundamentally misunderstand the role of our our security there our role is to put obstacles between that actors and their capability or our opportunity to do bad things our job is not to the foreign policy people our jobs not to be diplomats our job is to make sure that the diplomats stay safe so they can do their job so I think I think that was definitely an anti-gun element to it because a lot of these contracts used to be armed and when they rebuild them they put the parameters and so every 5 years these contracts get rebid no matter what the situation is so over the course of the Obama administration a quite a few of these got repeated and a lot of them were you know they disarmed of it it doesn't matter what the security Foster is on the ground which is really odd the only places they would do that would be a place like you know Iraq or Afghanistan or you know active combat areas so the idea of dominant ministration as I'm. Ok you're Ok anti-gun 2nd Amendment's not really that valuable Let's put American personnel and security consultants in actually those contract it was State Department let's put them in a situation where they have no guns and can't defend themselves then if they get killed if we have failed everyone drops the bomb makes it political it's have another election know an adequate investigation a move on the Clinton State Department silenced you on Benghazi security lapses and now the trumpets in the White House you feel a freedom to compound speak about it absolutely they threatened us it was pretty it was you know there's bears and there was a very much an implied threat the c.e.o. Was summoned back to the State Department to meet his contract people several months after this happened and you know they would usually tell us what the meeting for about so we can bring the proper materials and get whatever issues he care Terry was told what it was about he's the c.e.o. And or Siri tourists and he said when he you know he showed up there was what we're It will be greeted as he was leaving Janice and Taylor who is the contracting officer responsible for all of these mistakes told him aside and said Oh by the way you know we need you to be Iraq step with us on the pick. Up by the way. Right by the way oh by the way don't talk to the press don't you know cooperate with anyone look into this. You know and oh by the way we need you to agree with us publicly that this need to be the norm I mean she said. This is caviar. This is a paraphrase 'd where you're doing a lot of business literacy question you know we'd like to keep it in a corr
