The nevada state public Charter School authority met this morning. 8 news now reporter brittany edney, joins us now from outside the roberson location. Brittany. What did the board decide . Paul. Ive been following this story all week and it just continues to become more complex. Everyone from students, parents, faculty and officials at the Charter School authorty, all agree that Quest Academy is in a bind but theres no easy solution to this. The receiver, who currently is overseeing management, says the Charter School is two point four millioin dollars in debt. One of many things the board had to consider during todays meeting. ,along with debt, roberson is also stuck in a building lease that uses 44 percent of their entire campus revenue. And even if the doors close, quest would still be legally to the agreement. The fact that the Campus Special use permit expires in july. And no one knows if that will be renewed. So heres what the board concluded the roberson campus will close and quests High School Program will end ifthe special use permit is not renewed. The other contingency that the receiver must be sucessful in renegotiations for the property lease. Many in the room admitted its a long shot. But students say it gives them hope. At the same time, its hard on them as well. john killman, student if youve ever seen this cartoon where theres this person who is sad and theres this very dark thundercloud above them, thats pretty much how i am now. Thats how i feel about this, im that person just Walking Around with that raincloud. the other ruling of today is that all Quest Academy parents are to be notified of whats going on. And they are advised to find back up School Options for their kids. Parents i spoke with say, they are going to look in other options for their kids for the but what they arent going to do, is give up on this. Reporting live, brittany edney, 8 news now. paul joncich so, who has the next say on this because it sounds like the school is back to square one . . Paul. In a way it is.
