The big takeaway here is that the Clark County School district can hire teachers who are certified in other states and want to work here. They can get into a classroom and teach. But can be made permanent by lawmakers. The Governors Office says this comes after a change in federal law that put federal funding in jeopardy if the state issued temporary teaching licenses. The Clark County School district has about 18 thousand teachers. And anywhere from 79 percent leave the district annually. Which is anywhere from 13hundred to 16hundred teachers. Last year. The School District hired 2 thousand teachers.
