` and im dayle cedars. It is saturday and it is foggy. How was your drive in . When i hit hampton, ha that is when the fog started. Starting right about denver and moving up north. Heres a shot outside our studio. You are looking down right there on spear. And you can see pretty dense fog. Visibility in some locations is literally at zero. Denver you can see it sitting right there. You cannot make out the building the fog is so dense. This does corn to the northern portions f the front range and nootheast corner of the state. Temperature wise not bad. Until the fog really dispates, we will not see a massive warming trend early on. Up in the mountain we have teaspoon in the teens and 20s. 31 in denver. And we do have the 20s, upper 20s on tte Eastern Plains as well. A liitle bit breezy but our by 11 58 degrees y 11 00, 58 degrees. This puts us 15 degrees above where we should be this time of year. The next week is looking pretty good as well. We do have a few changes, were talking about a little bit of snow and some rain. Well take you through that in just a moment. Right now traffic is going to start picking up stacking up on i70 as you head up to the high country. Of course this is president s day weekend which means a lot of people are heading up for skiing and snow boarding. Last year more than 39,000 vehicles passed through the tunnels on the saturday of president s day weekend. Another 39,000 on sunday and nearly 34,000 on monday. 3 remember that is only people who went through the tunnels. Not those that stopped at loveland or went overloveland pass so it over loveland pass. For the First Time Ever the mother of one of the Columbine High School shooters speaks publicly. Up aboot that terrible day. A mother mourning the son she lost and also very emotional about the lives her son destroyed. Thissserves as a warning to other parents. She says she goes back over every year of her life with a magnifying glass. Look for the path of er sons decent and the clues that she missed. Sometimes he would seem distant or quiet and i remember asking him are you okay . You seem so tired and he would stand up and say ive got a lot of home work. I need to go to bed. Reporter and you let it go. I let it go. And that is the difference. If it were me today, i would dig and dig. I felt like i was a good mom and he could talk to me about anything. The shock of this is how i lived earn parented was an invention in my own mind. It was a completely different world that he was liiing in. Reporter she says not a day goes by she doesnt think of the victims and their families. I just remember sitting there and reading about them [ crying ] all the kids and the teacher and i keep thinking constantly thought how i would feel if it if one of their children shot mine. I would feel exactty the same way they did. Sue hopes to educate parents about potential warning signs and discuss Mental Health issues hopefully she says to prevent tragedies in the future. She however is not taking any of the procceds from her book. Were told that any money raised from the bbok will go to Mental Health harities and research. Of course with this interview airing, we want to make sure the focus never leaves that should be on the victim and remember who they are and who they wanted to be before that day changed everything. He was soospeciall reporter he is remembered as a fun guy that helped after school in his fathers business. Rachellscott waa active will in church and played the league in a school play. She is never, ever afraid of being her own person. That is wwo she wanted to be. Reporter isaiah was getting ready to graduate. John tomlin was 16 and had plans to enlist in theearmy. Lauren townsend. Lauren taught me to love everyone. Reporter she was a candidate of the girls volley ball team. Described as a gentle giant who loved helping his dad and dave sanders. I never heard anyone say anything negative about him. Reporter a teacher for 25 years and coach of the Girls Basketball and softball teams. He died saving students lives. He was always there when you immediated him. In addition to those 13 lives that were lost, another 24 students were injured. And one of the students was Casey Johnson. She wanted to see what sue klebold had to say. Lindsay watts has more. Reporter Casey Johnson says 17 years later she still thinks about what happened that day at columbine nearly every day. Reminder. Out thh front. Reporter and she says the two shooters showed no mercy. They yelled at her after attacking her, johnson says she closed her eyes and played dead to try to survive. She tells us she has no angry feelings toward sue klebold or any of the parents of the shooters. About what they saw from the boys. She is now focused on her own four children protecting them and being ggateful for them. Every time i drive up to the schoolland drop them off, im saying a prayer for the school and for my kids and every single day i pick them up, im thankful to be bringing them home. Its a real choice and battle for me to let them out the door reporter we also heard from another columbine survivor who was left paralyzed by the attack. She has writttn a letter to sue us. It reads in part i have no ill will toward you just as i wouldnt want to be judged by the sins of my family members. Investigators now say it was him. Police arrested Brandon Johnson yesterday at the Medical Center of aurora where he is being treated for stab wounds. This tragedy unfolded after a woman called saying she had been sexually assaulted. Was trying to protect that woman. To me i feel like my son is very brave and he is a hero. There was allo a twoyear old boy in that apartment at the time. Thankfully he was not hurt. `we looked at johhsons record and found a previous child abuse charge in 2013. It was dismissed but he did plead guilty to reckless endangerment. the deputy injured on the way to the crime scene is ssill in critical condition. The arapaho county sheriffs oofice released a Statement Last night in which deputy bill foremans family thanks the support. Flags will be at half stafff in honor of Deputy Derrick gear. He was shot monday and taken off life support after his organs were donated. A teenager is in custody. Deputy gears funeral is scheduled for monday afternoon. A denver 7 news alert now. Have you seen these men . If you do, you are asked to they are all parolees who are on the run after removing their ankle monitors. Two are from the denver area and members of the 211 group. They believe they are armed and dangerous. Swedish Medical Center is part of a federal investigation after a former surgery tech was accused of stealing narcotics. Accused of potentially exposing thousands of patients to blood born diseases and this is because he reportedly replaced a needle with one from an unknown source. Those are what they will be dealing with their highs this afternoon. Its like so completely unfair. Now that 57 you see, that will be out at the airport. And look our temperatures are just changing right now. They are fluctuating. Now contrast that with miami 75, 80 in los angeles. `hat sounds lovely. This is what you are lookkat if you drive out here in denver. There is the fog. Its starting to lift a little bit in denver but we are seeing that dense fog a little farther north. It will be a factor in visibility. Temperature wise not bad though. Look at where we are. Castle rock 34 degrees. [ laughter ] the magic of tv. Watch you guys im going to grow really, really quick. Im taller now. 43 there in castle rock. Up north in fort collins its 29 degrees. Downtown 29 as well. Dealing with 40s in the foothills and then in the mouutains temperatures there in the teens and the 20s. Already though 43 degrees down south in trinidaa. Look at these highs. 74 is where trinidad will sit later on this avenue. Pueblo 67. 57 downtown. We will be closer to 62 degrees. And the metro area you will see the upper 50s and low 60s. It wiil be definitely a warm afternoon out on the Eastern Plains some 50s as well. Neaar60 degrees mountains, temperatures in the mid to upper 40s. Watch our future cast as we put into motion. `you notice there is not a lot to show you acrosssthe entire state. Later on this afternoon, there is a chance we could see just some light flurries through the mountains today. Really going to have a better chance. Over night tonight we will get clearing. What you will notice is, there will be a little bit of moisture just to the north of us. Wyoming, nebraska, might clip that Northeast Corner. And then tomorrow clouds ill start to mmve in and we will see snow in the mountains. That will pick upright about the noontime frame and continue. This is not looking to be a heavy snow maker to begin with. However, we do have the chance for this to actually turn into giving us some watches and warnings. Travel sunday night into monday could be a little bit more difficult for the mountain towns. So if you do plan to get up there sunday night or leave early monday morning, just be advised you will run into a little bit of snow. Weedo have the chance far little bit of rain sunday night across the metro area. It looks like the majority of Northeast Corner of the state. Because of that front that moves in, our temperatures drop below ten degrees. We rebound very nicely and by monday we are back into the 50s. 65 degrees on wednesday. Thursday there will be some metro area towns that coulddsee 70 degrees. So yeah a quick little hiccup tomorrow which will be nice if we can get some rain, but i dont see a lot of rain down here in denver. It looks like it will be the northeast. Powder. But these temperatures unbelievable for this time of year. Its a tease of spring and dont think they will stick around for long. Its a good thing we got the snow at the beginning of the month. So there is a lot of people with monday off looking to enjoy the slopes. The good news if youre willing to shell out a few bucks you can use the i70 express lane. Usually opens up at about 9 00. Well keep an eye on that. Ha is is not heading westbound, that is eastbound. So if you get to the mountains, thats not going to help you. But on monday and sunday, that get home. We did have the clouds that helped our temperatures stay pretty mild over night. Here in denver 31 right now. Fort collins 29. Really a mixture between teens and 30s across the front range. Trinidad you are starting off you will climb into the 70s. Here in denver we will not see the 70s this afternoon but we will warm to the 60s. 1 00, 62 degrees. It will be nice and warm. Be we are going to be well above 43 degrees. We do have a little bit of rain and snow moving in so we will take a look at that forecast coming up in a moment. Thank you.
