The American Public was said that they could be apaulled. Now, comes the finger pointing. Days in to the start of sequestration, the Obama Administration says that the security lines are longer. No traffic delays reported. While they have stopped just short of calling it a cure, they say it could be the beginning of one. We will look at the treatment being used. The baby was given antiretro viral drugs, that is not unusual but it is that she was given it hours after birth. And has been off of treatment for a year with no sign of pin infection. At the hospital, the doctor decided to treat a newborn baby immediately after birth with 3 hiv drugs before waiting two to three weeks for lab tests. Which confirmed efventually tha the baby was infected. The doctor made the decision based on the babys high risk for infection. The mother had not had any prenatal care. When they followupped up, the baby had been taken off of what should have been longterm treatment. The mom admitted that she had not given the baby medicine for months, and i expected the baby to have problems. The doctor ordered more tests. And there was no sign of the virus in the baby. Experts are calling this a functional cure and suspect that the early treatment left no time for the virus to hideout in the body. The development is certainly encouraging. But pedestrians in san jose say this is just a single case and this approach will likely not help most hiv patients. I would say its highly unlikely that a child that has hiv today will clear it. We have had many, many patients with hiv and there have only been two cases reported where the patient had hiv and cleared the hiv virus from their system. But this single case is likely to inspire new resources for pediatric hiv resources. The reason it may not impact adu adults, most dont know when they were infected and and adult treatment does not usually begin until weeks or years after infection. Nbc bay area news.
