Listener who usually agrees with me disagrees with me on this and with all due respect he is wrong I will get to his e-mail Dan at 710 Cain Us dot com But but here is the situation Denver Post puts up a story about one this afternoon the headline shoppers pulled guns in response to Thorton Wal-Mart shooting but police say that slowed investigation now that in of itself I think is misleading because it implies that it's slowed the ability of the police to identify the actual shooter and I do not believe that's true and here is where the post then just flat out says it and again I think they're saying something which is not true the Post writes but those who do weapons during the shooting ultimately delayed the investigation as authorities pored over surveillance videotape trying to identify the assailant who killed 3 people and listen I think the post is fine in saying that Ok because a lot of people pulled guns in the store police had to check all those people out on tape find there's no doubt about that that is exactly what the police said but what the post does is it takes it the next step to something I believe is is false it takes it the next step and says because of conceal carry it delayed the police in identifying the killer and I believe that is is false a it just isn't logical you knew who the killer was because you're watching the tape and it shows him shooting the gun in people falling presumably I haven't seen the tape but the police say they have surveillance tape of the killing itself so just as a matter of logic it could not have delayed police in identifying the killer because they saw him kill. So the separate point that police then had to spend time looking at everybody else with a gun to make sure they weren't involved in it that's fine but that's not going to delay your effort to identify and capture the real killer that's why I think the post was just really unfair and really unfair at the end this to me insidious it be too strong a word but it really is fundamentally unfair to those good people who were in the store and pulled their gun because now the Denver Post is saying to those people who had to be traumatized to some degree depending on how close they were but if you're in that store at all you have to have a reasonable fear that you're about to be be caught up in a mass shooting and it was a mass shooting of sorts but anyway for the Post to take shots at those people and say those good people who were responsible and courageous enough to pull their weapon to see if they could help stop the carnage the Denver Post sitting up there in their comfortable office is going to take shots at you and say you actually delayed identifying the killer that's just wrong and I believe it's untrue as well 336961971. And they hid their ability to tell who did the shooting is that's a loosely ludicrous it is that is ridiculous they had it on tape they had it on video they knew exactly who was doing it.
