Right now its moving in the valley and take a look, laurie sent in this video to us of that water flowing right now and this is what a lot of people are seeing across our state. Weve seen it coming down heavy in spots like tucson, queen creek, getting stocked with rain and iris talking about dust. I believe we have marked graves on the phone from dps right now. What can you tell us about the conditions, where are we seeing the hardest hit areas . This storm pounded tucson as you know pretty well this morning and impacted pounded so hard that we had to close and in fact it pounded so hard that we had to close one area of the city that was flooded and we also had to close the interstate 10 in the tucson area so thats what we are dealing with as it moves north and you can see the weather alert is now going out. This is going to be a fast moving yet heavy downpour from what we are gathering. Yes, dan spindle here. Everybodys phones just went off as the Emergency Alert is reminding everyone remind of the best practice when the dust hits because we saw the cameras around Wild Horse Pass and the casino heading out into the valley, that chandler and ahwatukee area. Remind folks what to do. Dont think that you can power through it and then everybody will be okay. If the semi is fine in front of you but they never know you never know, they could suddenly stop and you could be in big trouble. The best thing to do is avoid it if possible. As soon as its safe to do so, get completely off the highway, foot off the brake and wait for the storm to pass. Thats what we always recommend people do. Are you preparing to maybe shut down some of the roads in the valley, maybe i17 at Indian School was just shut down a few days ago so are you just kind of standing by waiting to see what Mother Nature is going to do . We are working with adot to determine what to do in those situations. Our hope is that we dont have a flooding situation but it trajectory the storm will take and how much water we get. Thanks so much. For giving us the heads up on that Emergency Alert. Im sure you just saw that dust storm warning in effect coming through on your phone so take stay tuned for more. They wanted to show their appreciation. They are also sharing their thanks on social media and we think them for their hard work. More video to show you now. Look at this. Holy cow. Obviously not a good idea. Do not drive through stuff like this but obviously folks are just deciding to do that. Where is this from . Aaron, our producer, is this we havent seen that rain in the valley just as of yet but we are starting to see some stronger storms developing in the valley and the dust, you just heard the alert we are now under a warning through noon so if you can avoid travel for the next hour or so because visibility is dropping. Lets take you out and show you an example of the dust rolling in. Danielle lerner actually took this photo on the 10 and elliott , not driving but in the passenger seat and you can see thats whats impacting many in the valley. Are valley camera unfortunately went dark there but you can see this this is the one we were watching earlier as that dust rolls in, initially through queen creek. Visibility has improved somewhat there and that tells us that as the rain is falling behind the dust its really helping to improve the visibility a bit but that line of dust moving into the phoenix metro right now into the will be a big impact here over the next hour or so. We are now under a dust storm warning, the entire phoenix metro, all of Maricopa County or at least all of the western portions of Maricopa County and that northwest pocket of pinal county are under that dust storm warning through noon today. So let me take you around with the abc15 desert doppler. We had storms to our south all morning long and they have sent gusty winds our way what has helped kick up some of the dust. As we track it on desert doppler we can kind of still pick it up here rate between mesa that line you are seeing right at mesa where the a is, thats where the beginning band of dust is as its moving to the north northwest. So if you are mesa or tempe and you are starting to get that dust moving in, scottsdale, this will move into South Scottsdale next. Again, that line of dust is crossing the b line highway as time at times less than a quarter of a mile and we are getting the rain and storms behind it, first that strongest storm right over the queen creek and Apache Junction area, and this is producing quite a bit of rainfall so if you are in queen creek or Apache Junction, gold ng or even southeast gilbert, this is producing some very heavy rain. That potential is there for flooding as we go through the next couple of hours so again if you can avoid travel that will be your best bet. And weve got another batch of storms filling in, so it really the southeast valley is getting it both from the east side and the southwest side as we track another storm moving in from about maricopa up to the northeast, up into ahwatukee and spots right along the 10. So again, avoiding travel is going to be your best bet as the storms come together right over the southeast valley, and again on top of some of that dust that is already blowing through. And this is just the beginning. As we head into two tonight and tomorrow. Over the next 2448 hours, heavy rains, flash flooding, those will be the biggest threats you have to look out for but we could get strong winds and again that desperate and were and again that dust threat we are getting again. Today is just the beginning of this as we get a surge in monsoon motu stick with us as we track this every step of the way. And our calling Danielle Lerner is on the phone just along the i 10. Where are you and what are you seeing . Reporter hi, dan. I pulled off because right at elliott i could see the wall of dust coming in so i pulled off and i am actually at kyrie and just so sick and the winds were blowing as well and i could see even just ahead of me on elliott the visibility was just getting worse so i have been waiting this out and iris mentioned the rain coming behind the dust storms. Looks like now we are starting to get rain here i am, and that does seem to be here where i am and that seems to be lifting the dust but we also have strong wind gusts here blowing the debris around so i am just doing what iris always tells us to do and pulling aside and waiting it out. Danielle, this is justin, you are pulled over buar other people pulling over as well . Are you seeing more folks just trying to take cover . Justin actually when i was on i10 before i could see the wall of dust clearly i could tell something was going on because people tend to start slowing down so people were definitely slowing down and getting off the freeway. Looks like people have continued on their way down elliotts and not too many people pulling off but i definitely see them going slow for sure. Come check out your tv. See that massive wall of dust rolling into the valley . This is are phoenix hospital valley camera pointed to the east southeast and you can actually see the dust rolling in. We are under a dust storm warning with visibility dropping to less than a quarter of a mile as this rolls in. Again that warning is in effect until noon. This is pushing into phoenix and tempe and dropping visibility quickly. This is quite the lunch break, a lot of you seeing this site across the valley. A lot of you see the dust moving in from the south and we know a lot of places have gotten some rain already, hard rain in Apache Junction. We are following this for you coming in actually from southern arizona. This is perhaps the wash there in the old public pueblo but boy did they get hit by heavy rain this morning. Weve already seen some parts of the valley getting hit with really heavy rain. Tracking this rain and dust and here is a look at the rain from judy walsh. Weve been talking with Danielle Lerner that big wall of dust. Excuse me, danielle said she had to pull over and adot telling folks in the chandler area all of those places just seeing that big wall of dust. Lets bring in meteorologist Iris Hermosillo. What are we seeing . This phoenix valley camera. This one is read by the abc15 studios and that dust has moved in over phoenix. We are located right near 44th street and van buren and thats where the dust is now. It is continuing to push west and its moving into Downtown Phoenix, or at least toward Downtown Phoenix and quickly racing our way. We are talking a big wall of dust. The phoenix hospital valley camera is back up and you can see state route 51 behind it, that mas pushing in and pushing across the valley, so tracking from the southeast valley up to the northwest. Central phoenix, if you had plans to drive up state route 51, this is going to move your way and its quickly racing your way dropping visibility quickly, so avoid travel if you can until the dust settles. We are under a dust storm show you if we can take a look at our weather computer, this is for the entire phoenix metro and actually heres our abc15 live drive. Where are they, aaron . Are producer . Okay, they are right here on the 16 at this time and it looks like they are getting a little bit of rain but the visibility is not bad right now in that area on u. S. 60, but you can see the rain is coming down in other spots. This facing towards the 60, and weve got heavy downpours out near Apache Junction, and the potential is there for a storm near Apache Junction to produce flooding if not flash flooding. We are continu this weather alert across the valley and Danielle Lerner i
