Today a warmer day with above average temperatures returning. As you make your afternoon plans the high is up to 96 degrees with mostly clear in the forecast through the afternoon and early evening. Then i am tracking changes. Increasing clouds this evening and into tonight with rain chances back by the weekend. I will show you when to expect the best potential in just a few minutes. Spots like savanna already getting some of the heavy rain as the eye of Hurricane Matthew continues to slowly track along jacksonville also getting in on heavy rain. This is still a category three hurricane. It will continue to track of the coast and eventually bring some of the strongest wind into the georgia coastline. Also, the carolinas on tap next to field the stronger winds. The heavy rain already falling. By tomorrow morning looking to drop to a category two hurricane. Very strong before it makes its way out into the ocean. We are tracking it very closely and will have updates throughout the morning. I was looking at some of the webcams having issues because of the power and rain and wind along the coast. A category three storm right now happening. We just got an update on the number of deaths in haiti. After matthew tore across the caribbean at least 842 people confirmed dead right now. This hurricane is creeping towards jacksonville and then on to georgia and the matthew will be unlike any any hurricane in decades. In some areas people wont be able to go to their homes four weeks. Power lines down across florida. Hundreds of thousands of people without power. At least one person we know of has died due to that storm in florida. Warnings, evacuations all still in place right now. Right now 16 arizona red cross volunteers are helping affected by the hurricane in florida and the southeast coast. A couple of ho more volunteers driving an Emergency Response vehicles that will be from phoenix to orlando. The red cross is also stressing the importance of blood donations since they have had to cancel a lot of blood drives in the path of the storm. A story about child safety in our state. Look at this map. This zip code shaded in red, 85016 has a second highest rate of child deaths in the state. Reporter dcs is taking action to figure out why the numbers are so high in this area and also how to reach out to families. Dcs just released this reports about child deaths right here in arizona. It turns out dcs received prior tips in 42 of these deadly cases. Were not just talking one ti in some cases they had several reports. Dcs was created after cps was dismantled. It was dismantled beuse 6600 childabuse complaints fell through the cracks. We wanted to know how the law has changed to prevent this type of negligence from happening again. The laws themselves are largely unchanged. There is a requirement in the most major of the cases for dcs to assess its own protocols and publicly acknowledge if there are things it could have or should have done better and state what it will do better in the future. He admitted to setting an abandoned house on fire as well as setting several other fires. In Chandler Family who has been renting their home for four years making a shocking discovery. They found a hidden camera in their guest bathroom offense and a dvr in the attic. It had more than 1000 videos of victims using the bathroom in 2011 and 2012. Police tracked down the previous tenant to allegedly admitted to installing that camera to see if his wife was cheating on him. Left the device there when they moved.
