A lot to get to here involving breaking news happening this morning and i want to start with a manhunt going on right now in South Phoenix for the suspect who shot and killed a Convenience Store clerk. We broke this story on abc15. Com early this morning. Justin pazera is on the scene. Its near 16th street and southern, justin, what do our viewers need to know about what police are searching for . Reporter yeah, at this point we really dont have a clear description of who the robbery, but lets set the stage for you here, it happened in the parking lot. One of the clerks of this 7 eleven was outside, thats when that armed robber approached him and forced him inside that 7eleven right there. From there, he was demanding that clerk to take everything out of that register, all of this was going on while there was yet another clerk inside that store. Both of them were forced to do what this guy said at gunpoint. The suspect moves victim to a backroom, a Stockroom Office area, and its inside this area where the suspect shoots one of the victims, one of the clerks. Reporter from there, the other clerk was able to get up, run outside. He was followed by that suspect back out to this parking lot. From there police dont know really where that suspect went. They do believe that he was on foot. They say that he was wearing dark colored clothing. He also had his face covered so they hope that someone that is in this area, very busy area here at 16th street and southern, they are hoping that somebody that was in the area could help them out. And at the live desk right now, a man is recovering after he was beaten and carjacked. This unfolding late last night near 71st avenue and lower buckeye road. If you know the area, its right by sierra linda high school. Three men approached the victim and then took shots at him, beating him up and then stole his vehicle. We are still waiting on a description of the suspects and also the missing car but thats what i have to offer at this very moment, danielle. A Family Gathering just went terribly wrong. Deputies say a man shot a friend, he took off but was then found dead nearby. This happening at a home near buckeye at 195th avenue and got into some sort of a fight and thats when the suspect shot the victim several times, that victims condition is still unknown this morning. Family members actually took him to the hospital but then deputies found the suspect down the street dead in his car. Hes been identified as 48year old robert scott either widey erobidi. There were multiple shots fired, there is only one victim currently being treated. We do have we had juveniles at the residence but everybody else is okay. They were not directly involved. At this time its still not clear how the suspect died. Four minutes after 5 00. He is accused in a horrible double murder in phoenix, now hes behind bars, this is 37 yearold brandon sutherland. Neighbors telling us hes a former marine, now facing two counts of firstdegree murder and this spot is where police say he surrendered. This is the scene at a Mobile Home Park near 35th avenue and beardsley. Location. Neighbors tell us the victims and the suspect are family members but police have yet to confirm how they may have known each other. Danielle. Dan, a 9yearold boy and two women very lucky this morning because they managed to escape a burning home in phoenix that did not have a smoke alarm. The fire started at this home near 14th street and mckinley. One of the women in the house smelled smoke and quickly got the other two out. That little boy did have to go to the hospital but was not seriously hurt. The familys dog survived but, dl investigators still trying to figure out how this one started. Arizona politicians and donald trump really having a tough time playing nice this year. Trump will not endorse mccain when he does. Governor doug ducey taking plenty of time before finally backing the g. O. P. Nominee and now senator jeff flake making it clear he does not think that trump can win the election. I have yet to see donald to change and particularly change the tone and tenor of the debate sufficient to win the election in november. Flake says he hopes Vice President ial candidate mike pence has a positive influence on trump. Starting today, the food and Drug Administration will begin regulating not only cigarettes and chewing tobacco but ecigarettes as well, cigars, hookah, tobacco, pipes and nicotine gels. Reporter we are terminal 3 where there is a widespread outage here at delta. You can see the line already backing up here. This line has been here since around 4 30 this morning. Right now all flights going out of sky harbor cancelled. Thats because of this power outage in atlanta that took down deltas computer system, then operations worldwide. Now, there are widespread cancellations, more than 10,000, just to put this into perspective for you, this outage is so bad that flight status system, including showing flights on time. Passengers we have talked to, as you can imagine, upset. We got to get back and not having answers is, you know, thats not the expectation you have when you fly with a major carrier, especials when especially when there are tons of flights going on, in atlanta, their hub, they should have this handled. Reporter now, if your flight is cancelled or significantly delayed, you are entitled to a refund but this isnt the only big hiccup thats going on here at harbor. Abc news learning the 10 yearold son of kansas state representative scott schwab died while riding whats known as the tallest water slide in the world here at the schlitterbahn water park. Still brought tears to my eyes that someone else lost their child. Thats my childs age that im sure they felt was safe. Before the ride opened two years ago many raised questions about its safety especially after watching these early safety tests showing sandbag the rides opening delayed at least three times while the park reworked it, adding seat belts and safety netting. Something to prove today, a the agency must show that it is not targeting conservative groups applying for tax exempt status. The irs has not issued a statement since that ruling. More changes coming for disney after an alligator killed a toddler earlier this summer. We have learned that workers are now building a stone wall seas lagoon. There are several resorts along that stretch there, so pretty popular area. The home run came back to find five men inside the house. The burglars didnt notice him so he called 911. This employer followed it up with a letter and sent brenda this check for 1985. Im trying to find out if its a scam and if this check is real both checks have business names, come from legitimate banks and both are completely fake. No exaggeration. I get one of these complaints on average every single day. You deposit the check, youre asked to send or wire money somewhere else, the check is bad three days later, your money is gone. Any large check for work you havent done, a contest you havent entered or overpayment for something youre selling is fake. So thats large checks. T. J. Writes about a small check, just checking to see if he thought this was a scam. I didnt want to cash it and this one is for about 26. Its a supposed settlement with the federal trade commission. Turns out this check is real for a settlement involving weight loss claims and green coffee bean extract. But t. J. Yeah, the pilot fire, this actually started as a 30acre brush fire but its now quickly spread to 1500 acres. Evacuations were issued yesterday afternoon in the Summit Valley area thats in San Bernardino county. More than 350 firefighters are battling this wildfire and it is still not clear how this even started. They cannot catch a break in the golden state, right, for california. Run season already. An update on the soberanes contained, more than 5000 crew members still battling the flames there, 57 homes have been destroyed. Lets turn our attention to your most accurate forecast on this monday morning here. We are in for some big changes this week. Good morning to you if youre just joining us here. Heres a look at futurecast. Im going to press play on it and we will track together whats going to be happening. For us today here in the valley, we are going to be staying pretty dry. That doesnt mean the whole state is. You see we have chances for isolated showers out to the well, that will start to clear out overnight. We will keep some chances out there to the east but for us in the valley we are not going to be dealing with anything like that. Now, tomorrow thats when things sort of start to kick off but a slow start, we will start to see a little bit of moisture move in by your morning commute. We are going to keep rain chances pretty low, though, tomorrow, slight for us there. Because we are looking out for pockets like this here. We will still keep those rain chances up to the north and then look as we continue to take this on in through the rest of the evening, you still in here, so thats going to kick up our rain chances pretty good, at least on wednesday and thursday, so we are going to be looking out for those days to be some of the highest days that we have those rain chances. Meantime, i want to show you what this is going to do to our temperatures. Today well above average because we are staying dry, right . We are kind of under this hot air right now. 109 degrees, 105 is average. We start to drop by tomorrow and then we are dropping even more so on wednesday. 95 degrees, you might think that would be nice, right . Its about that deadly armed robbery, a convenience. The shooter on the run at this very moment. Justin pazera is on the scene with what we need to know what happened at 16th street and southern. Justin. Reporter getting a better look at the scene this morning. It all started at this parking lot here at the 7eleven. Thats where one of the clerks was out here in this parking lot when that armed robber came face to face with him. He forced that one clerk inside that 7eleven. Thats where he was ordering him to take all of the cash out gunpoint. There was another clerk inside of this 7eleven when all of this was going on. That armed robber forced both of them in a backroom. They were laying on the ground at gunpoint. Now, its not clear exactly what happened at this point, but for some reason that suspect shot one of the clerks, killing him. His body is still inside that store. Now, that other clerk was able to jump up, run outside, that suspect following right behind him. Now, we really dont have a suspect at this point. We know he was wearing dark clothes. He had on red gloves and he had a mask that was covering his face. Now, in the last few minutes we have seen detectives here. They are inside that store taking a lot of photos around that cash register. We can see them in the backroom taking photos also. Phoenix police urging everyone, this is a very busy area, possibly you saw something, if you think you saw something out of the ordinary, of course call pazera, abc15. Lets move from that breaking to another breaking news story happening at the live desk and you should expect to see a large crime scene, a Police Presence near third street and mcdowell as you head out this morning. Phoenix Police Officers opened fire on a suspect at this location. It happened just around 11 00 last night. One person was shot and taken to the hospital. No officers were injured. More details coming out on this one in just a few minutes, dan. 5 34. And developing right now, we are working to get an a Homicide Investigation. The victim we know a 3year old. Abc15s nick ciletti now live in youngtown with some more information. Nick, what are you hearing out there this morning . Reporter we spoke with neighbors and they are telling us that they are hearing the suspect in this case is another child that lives inside the home. Now, i want to show you here behind me, you can see this memorial out here with the teddy bear and candles and some toys. It continues to grow as this neighborhood tries to make you what we are finding out this morning. We are hearing from mcso that they were called out to this home off of 111th avenue and olive. Neighbors tell us they saw children running down the street. They were banging on doors and screaming for help at the time. Now, one neighbor told us she saw the victims older sister, she was bleeding, she was pale and she looked like she had been through something absolutely horrifying. T mother and a grandmother, i can tell you that my heart was absolutely, you know, that the mother, of course, who had no idea what had happened was going to be showing up and finding out the news and i dont think anybody should have to go through Something Like that. It was reporter meantime, we are learning that Sheriff Joe Arpaio is going to be speaking about what happened, hopefully shedding some light on exactly what the case was and hopefully giving us some answers on just heart breaking tragedy out here in the west valley this morning. This just into the newsroom, dan, we have learned state route 347 is back open after a deadly crash last night. This is the picture we got from dps overnight. They tell us the southbound vehicle crossed over into the northbound lanes, side swiped another car, then collided head on with the third car and then a fourth one rearended that crash. The driver who crossed the lane died, another person was injured. 5 36. Unfolding at airports across the world at this very second, including right here in our own back yard, sky harbor. This is something else. One of the Worlds Largest airlines is grounding all flights. Delta, maybe it stands for doesnt ever leave the airport, and katie connor is live inside terminal 3 with more on this one. Katie, the lines are getting longer. Reporter thats right, we are at the very end, chris, and as you can see it is wrapping the ticket counter. Now we know that all flights right now are cancelled with delta. We have been told that there was a power outage in atlanta that actually took the system down and it has caused those flight delays worldwide. Its kind of like being locked out of your computer lockin when you forget your password. This outage so bad, flight status systems like the one here in sky harbor cannot actually show that all the flights have been cancelled or delayed. Thats why if you check them at home on your smartphone, it will say its actually on time. Right now delta says you are cancelled or significantly delayed, you can actually call this 1800number and they will rebook your flight for free. This is what they are handing out to all the passengers today. The best piece of advice, call this number if you have a flight with delta today. But the cancellations even when they get up and running, that system will still be widespread delays throughout the day. Chris. He spent three years behind bars for sex crime involving minors. He was relieved on electronic surveillance whale awaiting his parents told abc15 that kost was asked to return back to jail. Breaking overnight from the live desk here, an abandoned hotel catches fire in phoenix. We were there at the sterling hotel, thats going to be near 24th street and washington.
