Have you noticed that haze across the valley and the haze in the air. This is why. A pretty good sized landfill fire is burning. Its right at gilbert road. The penguin it this morning. Crews are using bulldozers to put those flames out but you still may notice the flames throughout the day today. Five people have to find another place to stay after the fire tore through the tempe apartment overnight. The fire started in a kitchen at the ravenwood heights apartment complenear baseman and hardy. This fire spread to the cabinet and made its way into the second floor even. The Sprinkler System caused much of the damage to one of the units. Two people were seriously avenue in phoenix. Firefighters had to use the jaws of life to get one person out of a car. Four other people suffered minor injuries and it appeared a baby was in one of those cars but was not hurt thankfully. The family of a chandler couple who were killed in a horrific crash in san diego over the weekend are sharing their memories today. Lina defori talked to the family. Reporter they talked about crews and contr era s through a mixture of devastating and hard breaking laughter and tears. The contreras were killed on saturday in san diego when a driver just flew off of a bridge and crashed some 60 feet below into a group of bikers. The driver was arrested, suspected of drunk driving. Four People Killed in that wreck. And people say that they were foster parents and they would buy extra Christmas Gifts for their neighbors and strangers so nobody would feel left out. Its the way they were killed theyre having a hard time p they should think twice about drinking and driving. If that young man had taken a moment to call an uber. To call a taxi. Right now more than 20 world war ii vets are on the way to washington, d. C. Its all part of the very last world war ii Veterans Honor flight to leave arizona. Mark liverman caught up with all of them or some of them before they took off. Theres no question this is a historic moment. We are talking about the last honor flight with all world war ii veterans and so many of them were talking about more than 20 of them. Getting on this flight theyre going to be coming back thursday and weve got rick gina here who is a veteran. Tell me what hits home the most for you especially on a day like today . Well, number one what these world war ii veterans accomplish all of us are enjoying a Wonderful World because of these world war ii veterans and we know that. These are the folks who saved us from a war that took nearly 265,000 people. Truly just an honor to be in their presence. It always is. This has been going on for pretty close to six, seven years, 2009. But this will be the last world war ii only honor flight going out from arizona. Talk a little bit about what that means to you. Its very difficult for us to realize that this is sort of the end of the line as far all world war ii. We do have over 400 korean war veterans who were in the forgotten war who are very excited that theyre going to be on the next honor flight on november 1st. Of course we will bring world war ii veterans along they will take precedence over korean if we can find them. So were desperately still looking for those veterans. We really appreciate. Seven day forecast shows us changes. Were going to take it up to 92 for tomorrow. 96 on wednesday. 95 on friday. And slowly taking down those highs. The average for this time of year is 88 degrees.
