Reporter Dorian Johnson said he was with Michael Brown saturday walking down the middle of canfield drive when he said a policeman who he described as a white male drove up and ordered them to the sidewalk. Johnson said he then grabbed brown around the neck and tried to pull him into his cruiser. He said, ill shoot you, or im going to shoot. And in the same moment the first shot went off. Reporter police say a scuffle ensued but brown broke free. Johnson and other witnesses say the officer ran after him. His weapon was already drawn when he got out of the car. He shot a gun. And my friend turned around, put his hands in the air and he still got down but the officer approached with his gun and he fired several more shots and he died. Reporter the name of the officer in question has not been released but hes been placed on paid administrative leave and late today, the prosecutor for st. Today iraqs president named a new Prime Minister the head of government, but the current Prime Minister nouri almaliki, who was seeking a third term, vowed he would not leave office. Now, this new iraqi leadership has a difficult task. It has to regain the confidence of citizens by governing inclusively and taking steps to demonstrate its resolve. With those words the president pointedly ignored the current Prime Minister who is stubbornly clinging to power, nouri almaliki. The new Prime Minister comes from malikis own political faction even as he calls out military forms to protect him. This is as close as we can get to the militants positions, and the soldiers here say they need more american air strikes to help them defeat i. S. I. S. They also want the u. S. To give them new weapons that are a match for the extremists theyre fighting. Thousands of iraqis are now facing starvation after they fled i. S. I. S. Through its barren mountaintop. The u. S. And other countries are dropping food and water from the air but it isnt enough and more than 50 children have died. At the command post near the front line, iraqs deputy Prime Minister rowsch shaways, himself kurdish, told us these men cannot defeat the islamic militants themselves. Relief supplies including food were pushed outside and gathered by the stranded yazidis. Then as the helicopter slowed and touched down, desperation as yazidis of all ages jumped on to the chopper, in some cases parents pushed their children aboard. Once safely inside, their faces told the story. In another war zone tonight, a new ceasefire in gaza is holding. Negotiations on a truce resumed t egypt. This latest war between palestinians and the gaza strip and israel broke out more than a month ago. 1,900 palestinians and 67 israelis have been killed. Charlie dagata is there. Humanitarian coordinator james rawley surveying the damage. He told us its destruction not only plunged gaza into darkness but a humanitarian crisis. Without electricity, we cant get water into houses, we cant get water into hospitals and other Health Facilities and we cant get water into schools. The general manager said the plant had come under fire five times. Was there any good reason . Hamas fired rockets from all over gaza. This power plant, nobody is allowed. We have our security staff. We have our cameras and we are insisting nobody enter this compound. Reporter this is the third time the plant has had to be rebuilt in eight years due to israeli bombs. It will take more than a year and depends on israel lifting its blockade of the gaza strip to let the supplies in. We have to get the agreement of the israeli parties to bring in the spare parts, materials, cement to rebuild gaza once again and thats not an easy proposition. Reporter we contacted the Israeli Defense force today about the attack on the plant, scott. We are told that it is under investigation. But its worth noting that israel does provide gaza with some electricity and they have been begun repairing some of the power lines that were brought down during the fighting. Nascar favorite tony stewart was moonlighting in a minor league race on a dirt track saturday night when he struck and killed another driver. Heres don dahler. Was side by side with Tony Stewarts car when he spun into a fence in a dimly lit section of track. Ward was hit and pronounced dead an hour later. No charges are pending but the case is under review. Chuck miller was the race director. It might have been kevin just wanting to show he wasnt going to back down to someone of that stature, but the whole deal started as just a regular hard core racing incident.
