[ gunfire ] [ bleep ]. The cell phone video captured the moment of the shooting that happened during a protest outside Ferguson Police headquarters. The gunfire sparked a Dramatic Police response. The two wounded officers in serious condition this morning. Dean reynolds is at the shooting scene in ferguson. Dean, good morning. Reporter good morning. Were monitoring a News Conference by the st. Louis county police chief at this hour. The two officers were shot just a few feet from where i am standing. One in the face and the other in the shoulder. They work for Neighboring Police forces, and were brought in specifically last night to help with the demonstration. [ gunfire ] reporter these shot was fired just after midnight as hours of tense protests were winding down. Got an officer down, officer down. Reporter the gunfire came from across the street sending officers and demonstrators scrambling for safety. Everybody down on the ground. Police got shot. Once we got down we saw the cop shot right next to us. Bullets went really right past my head. [ sirens ] reporter the injured officers worked for the Webster Groves and st. Louis county Police Departments. One of them is seen here being take ton an ambulance. There were several Office Standing right there together when this happened. They were shot. Just because they were Police Officers. Reporter jon belmar is st. Louis county the police chief. The st. Louis county officer was struck in the shoulder and a Webster Groves Police Officer was struck in the face. Reporter the violence came hours after ferguson the mayor announced that the citys police chief, thomas jackson, would be stepping down. He felt that this was the best way forward. Reporter jackson is the sixth ferguson official to leave in the last week. Hes been heavily criticized for his departments response to last augusts killing of unarmed teenager Michael Brown. And the departments reaction to the protests that followed. According to a report released by the department of justice last week, the problems are farreaching. Fergusons approach to law enforcement, it said both reflects and reinforces racial bias. In his Resignation Letter published wednesday, the chief of five years wrote it was an honor to serve, and that he will continue to assist the city in any way i can. The two special agents under investigation, Mark Connolly second in command on president obamas protective detail and senior Washington Field Office Supervisor George Ogilvie have been stripped of their management roles and reassigned to desk jobs. The two seniorlevel agents were returning from a Retirement Party for outgoing spokesman ed donovan and allegedly underthe influence of alcohol when they drove their vehicle through the plastic security tape and hit a barrier near the white house. The investigation will focus on suspicion of drunken driving and whether a secret Service Supervisor overruled the recommendations of Junior Officers to conduct sobriety tests of the special agents. I am in the town of al duo around five miles south of tikrit. Iraqi forces entered tikrit from both the north and south and are retaking the city street by street. Commanders here tell us they are days away from recapturing the entire city but its being slowed down by suicide bombers and roadside bombs deployed by the isis militants. One of the commanders tell us there were 500 roadside bombs discovered in this town alone in the course of one day. One of the commanders here told us isis may have fewer than 200 legitimate in the city of tikrit while iraqi forces number more than 20,000 men. Some of them are government soldiers others are local describesmen but the bulk of them belong to shiite muslim militias. They have close links with iran and there are iranian offices in the field as part of this offensive. That is with u. S.
