Of course, snow is still falling in some parts depending upon where you are and where the temperatures are dropping. So if you are traveling tonight, take it slow and be careful out there. We have going to see the temperatures drop and the roads get a little icy and slick out there. Right now 36 degrees with light winds. On life Doppler Radar, we are seeing the showers through carson city, gardnerville, and we are going to continue to see that chance tonight. Later on well see a break in expecting more. This Winter Weather advise visery which is in effect until 7 00 tonight, were still expecting to see another two the Winter Weather advisory is firing and this winter storm warning expiring at 10 00 for the sierra. That with this system, the next few hours, we still could see another two to four inches of snow and that will be west of highway 395 tonight. Of course, we have another batch making its way in tomorrow. So the good news for the ski resorts. Another big story is going to be the moderate air quality. That is going to continue to be the story until we can get some winds in here and push out the valley inversions. The good news is with how cold it is out there, it is okay to burn in the renosparks and Washoe County area. On satellite and radar, we are watching that one system make its way out to be and tomorrow were going to see another system make its way in. New tonight, president obama announced executive actions to curb gun violence. The president wipe aid way young victims of the shootings of Sandy Hook Elementary School violence. He assured the country and gun owners that his actions are not intended to take away everyones guns or diminish their second amendment, but he listed other freedoms like those of wore and assembly violence. President obama outryaned his actions starting with comp hebessive background checks regulating those who sell guns, hiring more people to process paper work, and making the system more efficient, making sure people with Mental Illness get help and developing new technologies to make guns safer. If we can set it up so you cant unlock your phone unless you have the right fingerprint, why cajtd we do cant we do the same thing for our gun . If a child cant open a bottle of aspirin, we should make sure they cant pull a trig otherren a gun. All right . But a loophole in the law alaws some sales at gun shows without a background check. Transactions between individuals dont require background checks. It is a small percentage, anywhere from 1 to 10 . Reporter he says those kinds of firearm purchases dont take place at gun shows very often. But after the attacks in paris and bern bern, the president hinted he make take executive action to tighten loopholes like this one. It is a question that is posed quite often. Authorities say he was also a suspect in a shooting that happened at the gold dust west casino in late december and a robbery of a reno store. Two sun valley women are behind bars suspected of child neglect and animal cruelty. The Washoe County sheriff Officials Say the 61yearold kathleen dean and 41yearold jolene dean were arrested saturday after a welfare check on careena circle. The deputies say they found hazardous Living Conditions for three children between the ages of 11 and 14. The children are currently in the care of Washoe County child protective services. Animal control officers reportedly found dozens of animals on the property raining from dogs and cats to birds and sugar gliders. The animals are being cared for by regional animal services. And reno Police Say Two people are behind bars following an Armed Robbery at a gas station. At the chevron station on the 10000 block of stead boulevard just after 2 00 this morning. They say one suspect is a 17 yearold and the other is 18 yearold christopher kern. The witnesses say the two suspects pointed a handgun at the cashier and demanded money and then ran away. A Police Officer saw them leaving and was able to take them into custody. A 20yearold woman at the isnt of an endoflife court battle has died a at reno hospital while on life support. The attorney david omara says she died monday at st. Marys Regional Medical center. She never woke up from anesthesia after abdom nat surgery on april 1. The cause of death appears to be respiratory failure. The hospital hasnt commented yet. Her father lost a bid last week in court to delay brain wave tests that the hospital said would show she was brain dead and would not recover. Were told the entire building is several thousand square feet, and yesterday actually a market place called the basement, which crus a variety of locally owned shops, opened underneath the first floor, so theres about eight businesses opened underneath there right now. And the lead designer of the building says the National Retailer which hasnt been named yet is huge for this area. Shelby, tonight were taking a look at chair lift safety after a ski lift chair fell from its cable this weekend at heavenly mountain resort. It was an empty chair lift. It happened sunday morning of the north bowl chair lift. Fortunately no one was hurt. All 65 guests were evacuated from that lift. Right now in reno were sitting at 36 degrees so we are seeing some rain showers across the area, but as those temperatures drop, were going to see slick and icy roads and then a mix of snow and rain as the evening guess on. The winds now light out of the west at about three miles per hour. And taking a look at our official day time high, 38 degrees today. Below average. The morning low, slightly above average at 27 degrees this morning. So were starting to get close to where we should be. We do have a very cold week ahead of us. We are going to continue to see the showers throughout the evening. We could see up to two more tonight and the next couple of hours for the reno area and really part all of far western nevada. We could see anywhere from two to four inches of more snow accumulation, west of highway 395 tonight. Some places like north star already recorded 10 inches today, but we could see an additional four inches overnight tonight. A Second System makes its way in tomorrow. Here is a look around the area. We have dropped to the freezing mark for south lake tahoe. Still sitting in the lower 40s as this low pressure system pushes across california and nevada and then another system, as i administrationed, mentioned, moving into tomorrow. Were really going to see cloud cover in far western nevada with snow still hitting the sierra, but by 5 00, things are really clearing out for the area, and boom. The care and rainfall. Scattered showers tomorrow afternoon and evening as we saw today. Tonight we do still have a chance to see the snow showers dropping down to 26 degrees and light winds across the region. Tomorrow were looking to top out at 35 degrees a and then is that same story, the snow showers possible throughout the day. Heading over to eastern nevada, were going to see day time highs in the mid 30s with a chance of snow and light winds the 20s. As we head west, tonight down to 22 degrees and topping out in the upper 30s tomorrow so anything that we see there will be a mix of rain and snow lough the day with that warmer day time high there. In carson city, 23 degrees tonight and up to 36 degrees tomorrow with another chance for snow and light winds, and then around the lake, much cooler day time highs, right around or below take freezing mark. So tomorrow we could see another two to four inches of snow with winds there out of the south at five to 10 miles per hour. Now, day time highs and overnight lows across the region really sticking around it into the mid 30s tomorrow that is really the stir across much of the area. A few places dropping down into the teens, but no single digits. 24 degrees and then topping out at 34 degrees there tomorrow.
