Spencer, is the screening more invasive . The tsa wont go into detail about what, if anything, has changed as far as awhere on the body the patdowns will happen, nor on ahow theyll be done. The main change here is streamlining the process. There used to be five different patdowns, depending on the situation. Now, there is only one, universal patdown. That means whether you choose to have one, or if an agent randomly selects youyoull have the same patdown. As far as tsa talking to local police about the changes, that is true. But Public Affairs manager Nico Melendez says hes unaware of any anticipation of public complaints about the patdowns. He says the they always let police and other stakeholders know any time they make security changes. So are the patdowns more invasive or intimate . I didnt notice anything unusual about it. No, it felt normal, it was easy, it was fast, and i felt it was good security, so it didnt bother me at all. vo tsa officers had classroom instruction on the new patdowns, and had to basically pass them off before they can perform them at work. There are still privacy options for passengers they can request to be screened in private and have one other person join them while they are searched. Though it is now a universal patdown, there are still targeted screenings, as well. So if the scanner picks up something on your leg, for example, the tsa officer will do a targeted patdown of just your leg first.
