Wx timer 40 a small passenger jet traveling from dayton to akron crashed into an apartment complex on tuesdya. While no one on the ground was hurt, authorities confirmed at least two people on board the plane have died and there could be more. Nbcs Dan Scheneman reports. Believe anyone on the plane survived. A sioux city man faces sexual abuse charges involving a 13yearold girl at a local hospital. Investigators say on saturday night 20 yearold Alex Anderson met up with the victim at the icu waiting room at Mercy Medical center. He then kissed her several times and put his hand in her shorts. Authorities charged anderson with 3rd degree sexual abuse. Officials at Mercy Medical center say their security staff was alerted about the situation and they called sioux city police. The iowa dot has appppved a grant to pave the way for the multiMillion Dollar seaboard triumph pork processing plant. The 4point6 Million Dollar grant will help pay for street work at the plant site at Industrial Park in sioux city. Monday night, the City Council Approved the Grant Application through the revitalize iowas sound economy program. The 264Million Dollar plant will employ more than 11 hundred people when it opens in two years. Several people have rallied around a sergeant bluff, iowa, business, thats facing a complaint that it violated a county ordinance. Leroy mcroberts trucking inc. Is a carrier truck company. A few weeks ago, a neighbor complained to Woodbury County supervisors that the business is an eyesore. Last night, nearly a dozen Community Members turned out to voice supervisors. The board may consider revising the ordinance in question. If its a detriment to the community at large, but if the community at large supports the individual as we saw today, then the board wants to make certain accommodations to those individuals, said supervisor, matthew ung. But, remained optimistic. Nobody wins their first match, said Michael Powell. Hes not the only one learning. Its forced his coach to rethink his game plan with other athletes. As a coach it made me stop and think about am i teaching them the exact proper technique cause hell do it exactly as i tell him, said rich wilmesherr. What he didnt tell him to do was wrestle again. Michael, guided by his growing confidence takes to the mat for another match. To watch him grow in the last three weeks has been huge, said rich wilmesherr. A somber remembrance will take place this morning at the tomb of the unknown solider in Arlington National cemetery the president will lay a wreath at the tomb in a full honor ceremony as he does each veterans day. Other commemoratio ns will take place at the National World war two memorial. And the Vietnam Veterans memorial wall. The siouxland chapter of the American Red Cross and the Group Support siouxland soldiers have teamed up this week to offer resources to veterans. Volunteers provided a warm meal, winter clothing, haircuts, massages and other resources for free. Many area organizations pitched in for the cause. Cubbys Convenience Store donated food for the meal. The elks club donated 2 thousand dollars worth of new winter coats. Mostly people know us as being the agency that helps connect military members and their families in time of crisis, but we also have a Significant Service that we provide to veterans and thats what this is about, said American Red Cross executive director, tammy lee. There will be another event like this for veterans on december 15th at the American Red Cross in sioux city. Support siouxland soldiers presented an award to students who are helping veterans. The Organization Presents their heroes on the homefront award to organizations, schools and businesses who support troops in a major way. Yesterday, Le Mars Community High School Students received that award for their continued donations. They gathered food, hygiene items and care packages. Its important for the Young Students to know how important their work is in the community and how appreciate we are of their help and supporting our troops, said support siouxland soldiers founder, sarah petersen. At the event the students brought a bus load of food, 40 care packages and 13hundreddollars to send the packages overseas. On the eve of veterans day, a local group who continue to protect the community were honored. Ktivs tiffany lane shares how many members of the sioux city fire rescue were recognized yesterday. Fire rescue were honored. Su those honored tuesday say theres a similar bond between those serving in the military, as well as those serving in the fire rescue. Nobody really understands the concept of brotherhood quite like firefighters and veterans do, said orwig. Its an alliance. Its a friendship. Its relying on one another. The ceremony was put together by the International Fire fighters local chapter. It took place at the flight 232 memorial overlooking Veterans Memorial bridge in the background. Its about the recognition for the sacrifices and service that other people have made and i just feel like its a very appropriate location, said brian malcolm, sioux city fire rescue.
