Wx timer 40 were learning more about the shooting that wounded a Sioux City Police officer early sunday morning. The department identified thehe officer as an moritz, who was treated and released at a local hospital after the incident. E man police say puld the mothershed, also shot himself during the struggle with moritz. Ktivs michelle from police. As for mothershed. P olice arent releasing his condition at this time. Mothershed is in Police Custody at sioux citys mercy dical center. Hes charged with two counts of attempted murder and five counts of robbery in the first degree. But, he also faces a charge of home invasion. That follows an incident, inside a home in the 26 hundred block of south alice street, in morningside, back on december 7th. Police believe mothershehewas one of three men that broke into the home looking for drugs and money. A 19yearold inside the home was beaten with a crowbar. His mother was held at gunpoint. 21yearold austin cummings, of sioux city, is also charged in the incident. Police have arrested seven other people in connection with robberies in sioux city over the last two weeks. They are 19yearold justin seaberry, 18yearold jordyn delel, 16yearold austst bulizak, 16yeaold Jamaal Ferguson, 17yearold macayla knight, and a 15yearold who has not been charged. Court documents say the robberies began on january 29th when bulizak, Justin Ferguson and Jamaal Ferguson went armed to a home at 3321 pierce street. On february 2nd, documents say bulizak, Justin Ferguson, and seaberry wentnto a resident at c college couou armed with the intent to rob the resident. On february 5th, Jamaal Ferguson, Justin Ferguson, seaberry and bulizak went to a home at 4538 polk street where they planned to break in and steal a gun, according to bulizaks affidavit. On february 6th, police say Jamaal Ferguson, knight, seaberry and bulizak went to 2940 park avenue, building 19, to rob a person of money and personal propertrt investigators say they held the victim on the ground at gunpoint and took his wallet, id card and a nebraska man, whos charged in iowa with killing his wife, with stand trial in september. 28yearold rogelio morales, of hubbard, nebraska, will go to trial for firstdegree murder on september 20th. The trial was originally scheduled for march 15th, but his attorney sought an extension to allow more time to investigate the case and have morales evaluated. Morales is accused of killing 21yearold Margarita Morales, of South Sioux City, on april 19th. Court documents say morales told investigators a fight broke out when his wife told him she no longer wanted to be in a relationship with him. Rogelio morales told police he wrapped his hands around her neck, and his next memory was his wife not breathing. Rescue workers continued to try locate missing persons in the rubble of an earthquake hit apartment blococin tainan, several hours after its collapse. At least four people were rescued on monday from the 17story apartment building. More than 100 people are believed to still be under the debris. Rescue more than 170 people from the folded building using information about the building layout and the possible location of those trtrped. A German News Agency reported that two trains crashed headon in the south of ththcountry early today, leaving at least four people dead and 40 seriously injured. More than three hours after the ash, Emergency Services were still trying to reach people trapped in the wreckage. More than two dozen people were injured when a charter bus flipped onto its side in madison, connecticut.
