The ntsb is sending a Rapid Response team to investigate a deadly crash involving a u. P. S. Cargo plane in birmingham, alabama. Both the pilot and copilot were killed in the crash. The plane was flying from louisville, kentucky to birmingham when it went down. A website that tracks flights, four minutes before the crash, the plane plummeted more than 9,000 feet in two minutes. We dont know why it crashed. But it left a pretty long debris field and broke up into several parts with the fuselage and the wings separated. The cargo plane crashed into an open field not far away from a crowded neighborhood. No one on the ground was hurt, though. Back here at home, happening today, the family of missing oakland toddler daphne webb, they are planning a walk, showing their commitment to finding this little girl. That walk is scheduled to start at 1 00 outside of the Oakland Police department. Thats at 7th and broadway in downtown oakland. Its been five weeks since daphnes father reported her missing. He told police, the 21month old girl was taken from a car outside of a store. A technical error was responsible for mistakenly sending out an Evacuation Order to cell phones all over Contra Costa County last month. The Contra Costa CountyEmergency ServiceOfficials Say that Evacuation Order was only meant for parts of alamo after a gas leak on danville occurred on july 24th. Instead, though, the alert went out in the form of text alert, evacuating all people with no explanation. That alerted a lot of cell phone users who got that message. The error has now been corrected. Its a big day of firsts for students and teachers at a San Jose Middle School with new faces, new technology and a new way of grading students. Classes start at 7 30. The kids are rolling in. The teachers are rolling in. Again, with those untraditional teaching methods that will be rolled out here and other places in the district over the next few years, students can expect to not see traditional letter grading. This is an example of the four criteria involved with math. Reporter music teacher shows the new grading system teachers are creating. Its one of five schools in the San Jose Unified School district granted extra funds to create new teaching models. The pilot programs relate to teaching, grading and Innovative Technology will be rolled utd over the next three years and could be used districtwide if proven effective. They are looking to get rid of the traditional af grading system. Many teachers are excited to let students know where they can excel and improve. The biggest thing is the reporting back to the family and the parents and the students. These components get combined into a singleletter grade. Reporter students will be graded on criteria specific to understanding material, clab ratting on traffic collaborating on tasks so definitely some outside of the box thinking here at burnett middle school. As we push down the street, you can see one of the crime scene vehicles, the doors opened. In between the vehicles you can see a blue tarp. We believe thats where the victim is located. They expect to be out here processing the scene for the next couple of hours. Police got calls after midnight about shots fired. They got on scene and found a 33yearold man suffering from gunshot wounds. Paramedics tried to save him but he was pronounced dead at the scene. About 33 years old from the area. Reporter does he live in the neighborhood . He does not live in this neighborhood. Reporter its still unclear what he was doing here or if he was alone when he was shot. Police are still searching for witnesses. Residents in the neighborhood told us they are in shock about whats happened. Yes, i woke up about 4 00 this morning and i turned on the news and i seen what happened and it was shocking. I went and got a cup of coffee and came around here, and they still had the streets closed off. Im still in shock that something occurred here because its very rare. Reporter so again, at this point, still unclear if they are looking for a shooter or shooters, if this was a shooter in a car or on foot. Its spread into livermore and dublin. Some earlier problems at the Altamont Pass. Bay bridge toll plaza is backed up for a 20minute delay. Its not too bad.
