About a new study on tipping, and who tip it is most and the least and had is by gender, political affiliation, by region in the country where you live. I will mention a new development, when you pay for something through an app or an i pad did you think they make you tip more or less. Whats your guess . More. I think you tip more if it is you tip more of pose today pulling out cash. Getting another 5 out of your wallet. We will talk about paying the people who make our lives wonderful throughout this show but first we have to talk about weather because for those of us inland it is changing isnt it. Thats right. It is going get a little colder today thankfully going down just gradually, right, stiff. I havety tip for you three and that is correct. It will be a little cooler. Thats my weather tip for the day. Yes, now, unless you are really far inland and then it is just too tough to break it down this time of year. Were not warming up. We are cooling it down for many. It is a pretty good fogback and not making a push inland. You will get a breeze, it is showing up and you can see the low cloud deck. It is up and down the coast. And to parkville, theres also the deer complex over weekend, by brent wooed. If you were smelling smoke or seeing it theres a lot of opportunities for that smoke to filter in here. Today it will it will be a little cooler. There are inland areas in the 80s to slot to near 100. I split difference there but coast and bay in the 60s and 70s. Santa row sa down to 84 mr. 95 yesterday in gillroy down to 90. In san jose from 85 to 83. Cooling begins today not a dramatic drop but the it will be cooler for most unless you are far away from the coast and then it will be toasty. It is trending down a little bit to about wednesday, and a lot of cloud cover, even thunderstorm activity and rain down in Southern California, and southern san joaquin valley. For us it is about fog and higher temperature, were just too far north on that. 50s to 70s already. Again, theres the huge difference, theres a little bit overbreeds it is not this strong. If you are heading to Southern California you can see the cloud cover and rain but not here, tahoe, just missed yesterday, but today looks okay but hot. For us a cooler pattern and we will go from 60s to mid 90s for some so it is that time of year. It does look cooler through wednesday and warmer in land by friday and saturday you three. Thank you. We are continuing coverage of the large fire that gutted an Apartment Building the first calls came in about 4 30. It took ultimately three hours for fight fires to get control of this fire, and right now, federal investigators are on that scene. Theyre hoping with local infers and they try to figure out what started that fire. This morning, ktvu is back out on the scene, alley this fire is still having an effect on people who live nearby; correct. Yes, and multiple ways for just a second. I want to let you know where we are, this is 23rd and valdez. This is the backside of the building that was under construction that went up in flames on friday, and now three days later, we have still seen parts of the building shoulders this morning. There has been an oakland fire truck on stand by, on site, and nonstop since this fire began, just in case, things spark up again, but so far no problems but we have seen molders at the site here this morning. We have seen atf agent who is arrived back on site around 7 30 this morn, right now, they are meeting with Oakland Fire Department officials and Oakland Police, to help with the investigation to determine what caused this fire on friday. Now, we spoke briefly with one of the brieflytf he wasnt able to give a lot of information but investigator versus not been able to go inside the building yet because theyre still checking out the structural stability of things out here. But one new problem that residents in this area have had to contend with is falling glass from a nearby building. That building, the address is 180 grand, it is a commercial Office Building so nobody live there is but yesterday afternoon, more than two days after fire started, there were about a dozen or so glass panels that burst and fell on to ground below. I talked to a firefighter out here who explained it was probably because of some radiant heat still being put out from this building or from where this fire happened. Sea said these glass probably cracked during the fire and then with the wind blowing over the next cup of days, the glass shattered and fell to ground. People who live in that area had to deal with system of streets blocked off, because of the danger of that falling glass. Now at its worst this was a four alarm fire on friday and 7 to 900 people estimated had to evacuate this area, and this neighborhood, valdez and grand because of the danger of that fire. Luckily no one was hurt and most of those people have been allow today return back home. There were some scary moments though when a construction crane that was used to build this building was damaged during the fire, and the construction crane was apparently spinning and toppling over or threatening to or threaten and thats what prompted a lot of the evacuations but that crane has been dismannedalled. It was dismantled by crews on saturday so that threat is no longer an issue out here, but you will still see the impact of this fire, it is having the streets shut down because to have broken glass in area and a lot of streets in the vicinity closed down because of the investigation into what caused this fire. I want to shoyu, if we pan off to left the atf tmobile command unit just pulled up into this parking lot here. I have been told that atf representatives are meeting with oakland fire and Oakland Police to do their investigation to figure out what caused this fire, and i asked if theres any indication that fire is suspicious in nature, thats certainly something that a lot of people suspect. But, atf agents atageing that information yet. They say it is customary any time you have a big fire like this they come to help local agent sis investigate. Thats agencies investigate. Thats what going on. Hopefully we have an update on this. We will see you at noon then. Federalths are asking for the publics help in identifying and look e locating the person in this very ray lance photo. They want to talk to person on the bicycle here about three other fires at east Bay Construction sites in past year. It was july 6 of last year that an unfinished Apartment Building went in flames on soon pablo, and then last week wean, fire tore through another Apartment Building on construction near lake merit on lester avenue in oakland and may 13 of this year there was 50s big fire at that emoryville construction site. The reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in those fires has increased to 110,000. The building that burned on friday was the alta waiverly complex. It was suppose today have 196 marketrate units and also some retail on the ground floor. And as we mentioned this is now the fourth construction project destroyed by fire in oakland in the last year. On friday, this photo began recirculating on twitter. It was tacking 2015, and it shows is a building tag window the words if you build it we will burn it. Victoria pierce is one of the founders of the movement, it is not in my backyard, it stands for yes, in my backyard. She says housing is key to helping the people of oakland, happen toy have victoria join us. Thank you for being here. We will start with the fact that federal investigators no one has yet to call this arson. Do you think this was a case of someone staying dont build this fancy new building in my neighborhood. I think that theres a big problem in oakland right now with rapid gender if you case thats tearing up community fabrics and i think this may be part of that but the Bigger Picture is that it is damaging to progress were trying to make on oakland. We used to catch up from decades of underbuilding. This sets us back. You support market rate pensive housing. We support housing of all levels. We need housing generally the bay area has severe underfly of house canning has led to the housing problem so we need more housing generally. What do you think behind someone who action because you would think that person rue who burning the housing realizes that the person theyre going to hurt s that person trying to send a message or is it just vandalism . I think it is some kind of response to like i said the rapid effects of gender if you case displacement. Theyre tearing up the community fabrics and i think theres better ways to go about it but i dont to cast dispersion toward certain people or groups of people who might be it is an emotional response. Sure. That were seeing people displaced, familys are broken up the is a an actual problem we need to work on. Whoever is doing this, we dont know if it is the same person or different people but theyre trying to spark a debate here about the housing crisis, in the bay area, generally. How would you get them to maybe sort of come to table if you will to have a more in depth discussion about solutions as opposed to what we have seen here with these situations like we soon friday . I dont think theyre trying to spark a debate about housing per se because we have had had debatology gone for about 40 year, four decades. I dont think it changes that in anyway. What we need to do is see some actual policy to change the discussion away from what are we doing about you now, gender if you case displace example what are we doing so solve displacement. When you talk about poll sis, tell me two concrete things, if you were the chief or mayor. I would like to sew a state Infrastructure Bank and liberalize zoning to build high density. Coyou think the people say i grew up in oakland and hate seeing the city change and long timers like me putting pushed out. Should they be more open to dense housing project. If were going to make effort addressing Climate Change we all have to be more open to sharing the city with more people, and dense transit, dense transit, dense housing thats all part you have of the answer. How much of a hit is this, it could have come on line in the coming months. Thats a good question. Thats a big chunk. We should get ourselfs to point where it is not a big chuck proportionally. I think it is maybe 10 a little less than that of our current housing pipeline but theres a big chuck. We should be looking at it like were in a situation that this is a but were not there yet. Were not building enough. Yes in my backyard. Thank you for joining us on the 9. Coming up from any fans, why it may be much, much harder to tailgate when you go to the new raiders stadium.
