KURM 790 AM KURM 790 AM November 5, 2019 150000

Ok today yeah but why don't you boys before we get into this show today there was a there's a big sale that we were talking about last week I was going to shoot off today in fact if you check it out on Facebook or on our website later this afternoon you'll see it on there as well. Everybody Well maybe not everybody but many folks are aware that So if the Salvation Army doesn't Angel Tree program every year what that does is that that provides a lot of clothes and toys and everything for some some you know disadvantaged families and everything so the children can wake up on Christmas morning and you know they can begin to have that joy that goes with you that you're right absolutely So what we're doing is we're partnering up with the community a little bit in a couple of the folks out there and we are offering we're offering a sale for those folks who will help us sponsor that program this year. We were taking responsibility for several 70 entities this year 7 angels Children's is here and we are going to. Offer for our customers and any customers that choose to go ahead and help us partner with that and sponsor a kid. Will take a 10 percent off your job of $200.00. So we really our goal is to help out 100 kids this year and that's our that's our goal all right I hope you my can exceed it Oh absolutely and we'll make it really easy Anya you just say that you want to be part of it will give you a kid you know you can pick pick and choose which one you want to do or what not you know me and Shane will both be carrying some angels with us so that way you can you know pick and choose from that group and then we'll even come and pick the toys up so you don't have to take no wearing thing you have to wrap and you can just put him in a bag and we'll just take him and deliver him for you great hope and we're hoping that through this we can make sure that the angel tree doesn't have any problems supplying toys there's over 2000 kids just northwest Arkansas that they supplied George to yeah and you're talking at the Salvation Army here Roger Yes sir and then I know you know we have one Springdale Fayetteville bit and they always get involved all you guys do that when you're just helping with the rubble Yeah we're just we're just sponsor now that yeah that's weird So it's a service but the Salvation Army northwest Arkansas was all together in one program for the danger tree in this area a lot of really nice folks over there in fact the calls at the office 479-531-1740 if you have any questions about maybe or want to sponsor outside of our business or whatnot by all means we can definitely put you in touch the folks over there Salvation Army great folks they do a lot of great things for the community Yeah and I think we'll be hearing more from me about that or some sort of announcement here we said we'd get together with Diane afterwards and whatever you want to do we'll have a lot of fun you know another cool new thing we're going to we're going to put out a new service today that we're now offering since I brought Shane on board with me . He has been able to bring on new talent as well with that and one of the one of the main one of the many mazing talents this man has is he's got quite a bit of experience in a garage floor codings Yes something that I've had a lot of customers really ask me about and I just didn't have a lot of experience so I couldn't really help them out much Shane has a lot of experience in that in fact today tell us about a product that he likes to recommend one that he does have extensive experience with and we're going to start offering it to our customers so I will what I had asked Jane is this a broad if you put down on a was you have to be a brand new garage for can it be an older one I mean what's the limitations on what kind of 4 you can put it do their own a lot of limitations to how you use this product you know unless your driveway or your garage floor is falling apart and he being you know like massive differential edge between 2 pieces then we can pretty much fix cracks spalling anything like that so sprawling spalling is when you're concrete starts eroding away it's not that much of a problem here it's more of a problem in parts of the country where you've gotten magnesium chloride really driven off your car from snowstorms or whatever that leach or concrete away. I never knew that I really didn't know better term I mean it says something happens one year to year just it happens pretty fast pretty fast and in on the concrete Ok You know I have to here I did you know how we don't do anything for our roads here so we don't yet know about that's going to have all that. I guess we have to get a little snow to make sandwiches but I'm not say to rub people I was just curious how did you know that that deteriorated driveway or that on agree that heated up Ok Go ahead Jeff Yeah so you know you can have spalling in your concrete we can fill that make it smooth before the coating goes on but yeah I just want to get into the details like you talk a little bit about the product. How it cures and things like that so. Polly aspire to kapok see is what we want to talk about so if you go to a big box store you are not getting a high quality product you are getting basically floor paint and they give you about one pound of flakes to add to the product you know those flakes are for looks that's it there just to make your floor not look like it's just painted it's just to give it a little bit of detail but they do not serve any other purpose they're not for traction they're just for looks so very typically in a kit from the store you're going to get about one pound of flakes Ok that's supposed to be enough to cover one car stalls so you're going to need 23 for those to do your floor totalling 3 or 4 pounds of flakes on a typical 2 car garage we're going to use about 10250 pounds of flakes big difference yes mass easy their own Marilyn That's right. So Polly a Spartacus poxy dries in 2 to 4 hours so you're able to do most garage floors in one day a poxy can take a week or 2 to cure so pollies particle poxy that's why we like using it it cures really quickly we can have you back in your garage in a day or 2 so typically what we tell people is the day that we're there the next day you can walk on it you can start putting lightweight stuff back in your garage like bicycles and stuff yeah and then the 2nd day you can drive on it the only exception to that would be if it's superhuman or if it's raining for 2 or 3 days or it's really really cold so we would schedule your job for 2 days or 3 days instead of one whole household can we go within stone lining 30. You know we're not even Alaska with that on a covered right so it'll cover you all. You know we would just schedule your job for 2 days maybe 3 depending on the weather. Just let each coat dry overnight and what colors are we talking and various colors here standard Yeah bounce to girl or here as there are hundreds of op Oh boy we will probably simplified and offer 4 to 6 choice Ok as go say a 100 go. For 6 get it just give me the primary colors you're talking about the main ones are just depends on the vinyl flakes that you put down the base color will probably use 2 or 3 base colors like a gray Yeah and maybe more silver gray but your color comes from your vinyl flakes Ok so silver and great I mean to me if I'm thinking I'm a color my garage floor my carport for that that be right on time I don't grow over now for you Razorback fans out there you who are folks Oh. We will have a red and black as well are you serious we will have some for you got to do some form radiation gallivanting Yanni as easy as. Things will get better how they will I don't I just I have a couple radio listeners I like picking at you know there may or they're listening there. But back to Shane here you need to this very day sets not very long I mean really for what you're getting and they know what about all the stuff that's there to you just clean it out corner to corner wall the wall yes or so if you have a lot of stuff in your garage we recommend renting a U.-Haul. You know it's easier than getting a pod or something like that it's a lot less expensive really your stuff is right there in the driveway it's got a ramp on the back it makes it yeah to load and unload so it's rain a U.-Haul put all your stuff up in it and is we're going to back days is pretty cheap you know yeah and there I thought you know bucks a day or something yeah. Cheaper to get in a big lie you know storage container those pods are 3 or $400.00 I think they are and you've got other issues with those but for what you're talking about and I know some garages goodness gracious there's more stuff in some garages in people's ouse and I say that honestly because I know a couple of those places one of them could be mine I've got so much junk in a garage thing years down the 0 a lot of stuff in there. Every once why not see a car parked in there with their group 3 stole the show brain and I'm like yeah right. And you I were taken phone calls here right yeah clearly 636-7979 her 807677979 go ahead and check this right here but I'd like to hear a little more about these floors and yeah they tend to weather a lot waterproof for sure or never crackly what happens when they do get wet. You do have more grip than bare concrete because of the flakes that's what they're there for for traction but you can clean them very easily if you have like a floor squeegie if it gets wet you can push the water right out of the garage for illicit soaking into the concrete again and really makes coins and you know some people really like to keep their garage clean up oh yeah a lot of clients that spend the money to get the nice garage cabinets and finish out make it a usable space and they actually mop their floors once or twice a week oh yeah keep on looking really nice All right I need to get to my place. Here we go to let's go to the phones yes yes question coming up for Wilson services there listening yes I have a question. What if you got a vehicle that had a little lake and you got a spot in your in your garage for is this going to coverage or is there some you got a foot there well it's so back up to you later. No it won't so back up there later what we would do is degrees that So if you have minor oil spills we're going to all talk about this in a minute but we're going to grind the concrete before we start the process so most of your small stuff will come up in that process and not be an issue if you do have like a really bad oil spill that's just had oil on it time and time again we would use like an industrial degree sir and clean that before we do anything else. Is is there and I don't know if you want to cover this over the radio or not it is their rights were put cost on this song I'm doing it or how does what do you have all that we're still working on that it depends on what product we ultimately end up going with you know there's a lot of variation in the price of the of the pollies particle poxy as well as the vinyl flakes so we're still working on what vendor we're going to be ordering from . A lot of time. When that when that might take place on a flea will have all that worked out by the in the week but the big thing is we don't do square footage pricing on anything generally whenever we price something out we try to be as fair as possible to customers we look at this is how much of whatever product it is that we're utilizing and this is how long it's going to take us and from that point you have your billing that way. And the unfortunate thing and when you getting with square footage or whatnot some jobs can be 100 square feet and it's going to take twice as long as another 100 square feet. So it's real hard to say without having the opportunity to come out and check it out so we can definitely have a come look at I can send Shane out Ok or new can see what you got. Ok I appreciate you guys next event you bet good phone call there I was going get to that how Thank change you don't explain it was staying and how you couldn't you know Mike an award for no brainer new and better that's right so I'm going to go through the process real quick so if needed we can fill cracks we use semen tissues like concrete powder that you mix with a poxy and that it's just like a floor patch. That's similar to like ready patch So you mix that concrete it's a dust you mix that with the a poxy and run it over your cracks and in 25 minutes if you try to kick it it will break your toe. Out and it hardens up in 20 to 25 minutes and then you would take like an 8 inch grinder and hand grind that back down and then your cracks will disappear sure our customers are wondering how we're going to keep that dust down when we're doing hepa vac so all of our equipment will be hooked up to a have a vacuum I've heard I've had that question asked a lot of times about you know creating a big massive ball of dust in your garage I was thinking the same thing so the the machine that we used to say on the floor and our grinders are all looked up to have a vac so for folks should not wonder what that is as it's working it's pulling the dust into the container coming out of the air you know going to be dusted up absolutely it hardly There's hardly any dust at all and what dust is left is on the floor so we vacuum that up before we get started. So the process is you want to come in and mechanically grind the concrete and that means you're seeing a floor sander type machine with diamond bits on it and so sometimes some concrete is harder than other some a softer so you've got to kind of do a little test spot and then you've got multiple heads you can put on the machine to dial it in to get the right amount of abrasion So what that does is it opens up the pores in the concrete that takes the latents off the top and exposes the aggregate inside the concrete and that's what you want for bonding purposes so we're going to damming around the floor twice we're going to pass over twice then we're going to vacuum that up and we're going to do a base coat that base coat apologise particle poxy as a colored coat so that would be your silver or gray or whatever I should base coat you don't see a lot of that base coat lunch with the flakes down but it does make a difference if you use tan when you should have use over it's going to look like some of yellowish color tan it just you have to have the right base coat with those particular flakes so we're going to do a base coat is going to dry in 2 to 4 hours and then we're going to go in and do a wet coat and that 2nd wet coat is where you apply the flakes so we typically are going to do $2.00 to $3.00 times the amount of flakes required for that square footage so that we can really bury that appox and then we're going to clean up the excess get the floor clean anything that is dried in any flake that Dr standing up or just doesn't quite bond is going to stick up so if he stepped on it would probably hurt so what we do is we scrape the floor in 3 different directions we take a floor scraper lightly run it over the floor that'll knock down any high spots and any loose pieces then we clean that up and then we do a clear coat over the top so there's actually 4 layers but 3 coats of a poxy I doubt it will last and gets to yeah it lasts some tough stuff I mean is it shine a or maybe a jack. You know one very glossy glossy that's what I was going to hear so when you mopping clean that up you get that new pair it looks brand new if you 3 years down the road mop it a look brand new you can pressure wash it you can if you spill oil on it if you spill gasoline on it I mean it's tested hold up against fuel a diesel fuel gasoline oil you can wipe it off with a rag you can you know you can wipe it off with a paper towel if it leaves behind any kind of slickness you can put a degree sir on it like purple power or any of the yeah and just wipe it right off about that a look really great on new motorcycle Yep Yeah. And does it go just insiders it for outdoor on the driveway as you approach into your you know garage there better products for driveway Ok that's what I want to know this is an interior garage product it is by the body I mean you can use it indoors if you have a basement if you're a placement wood shop or special area in the basement that got have sectioned off from everything else that you want a nice slippers it's not floor yet you can do that you can use it outside we don't get a lot of snow here so that's the main thing usually been recommended outside because if you if you are in an area that gets snow. When you walk on it that snow is going to pack down and any time you pack down snow you know the whole thing becomes a sheet of ice you're going to slip Oh yeah but you know covered patio or somewhere we don't we don't have the weather here to really affect that so yeah very indoors if you want to do it indoors typically would do a water based topcoat because that's like no v.o.c. Because this product does stink Ok v.o.c. Stands for what is the oh so the speedo c. Stands for brand. Well I don't know they price on contact I'm just guessing might actually be pretty close I know it's the smale I'm against you so that's highly affected by percentage of solids. And some of your cheaper appox these are all the way down to 50 percent solids which means 50 percent of that material is going to Valparaiso when you put it down so we typically like to use around 92 percent solid year 100 percent solids are no v.o.c. To low v.o.c. . But when we work indoors so that we don't stink up your house for 2 or 3 days yeah we'll just use a water based product because you're not going to be driving a car and so I don't hear an answer now to that question yes it's stand for a volatile organic compounds on volatile organic compounds now it's the stuff that smells and something. That I hear you sometimes some of that stuff would drive Yeah yeah and then people are highly sensitized Yeah I'll give it migraines whatever but this is so if we do an indoor product you know we're going to use a different product for an indoor project you know all right anything else standard takeaway from thence to Shane or. I know we talked about they Durance how hard it is of course you're not going to have anything I say have the years what I mean on top of that that it's hard so this product one of the things that really excited me because shame shown me a lot of the a lot of the various applications as well as some of the statistics on it and it's harder than concrete I mean. It is amazing stuff you can drop you know if you're like me working in the garage all the time you know wrenches out all that kind of good stuff and dropping stuff and I'm kept my concrete all the time all dharmas see now and this will help protect that and the cool thing is even if you do check that or what not you can actually come back at a later time and patch this stuff and make it look good there's a lot of very slow process is let's say I mean let's look at that one now let's say a customer has us take care of this and of course we put a 3 year warranty on everything and a piece chips in 2 and a half years because some we did it was not right how would we go back and fix it change you would just grind down that area in just go back through the same process . Sometimes it's necessary to redo the clear coat on the whole thing when you're doing a patch and we've got a floor sander that has an abrasive will on it's kind of like a Brillo pad it's not going to grind into the concrete it's just going to scuff it up like you know your prepping cabinets to restrain them and then we can reclear coat the whole top of the surface once the repairs done if that's necessary sometimes you can just repair that little spot you know let me ask you this so we've got a lot of our listeners are do it yourself you know
