Week looking . Its been 20 months since a driver hit and dragged a Denver Police officer under his car. That officer john adsit is now focused on trying to help others. 18 surgeries later and still recovering. Officer adsit wants to assist other First Responders critically injured on the job. He was hurt so badly the two evidence boxes accident. Adsit had a broken pelvis, broken femur, severed artery, collapsed lung and damage to his eyes. He survived thanks to the support of the community and his family. But he says it wasnt easy. Adsit started a nonprofit called adsit strong. it helps other First Responders with the physical and mental challenges of surviving an on duty injury. On september 17th. Hes holding the adsit strong rise and run 5k. Itll benefit officer tony lopez junior. Hes the Denver Police officer who was shot several times during a traffic stop. Theres more information about the run on our website 9news dotcom. State leaders have signals at a Railroad Crossing near trinidad. Five people died at that crossing in june after their minivan was hit by an amtrak train. 9news reporter Colleen Ferreira joins us. Colleen this was such a sad story. Steve and Christine Miller were driving their four young daughters to church in june when this happened. The only survivor in this. Was one of their daugthers. Accoridng to the pueblo chieftain. The colorado Public Utilities commision approved a plan last week to have safety signals county road 32. The signals will cost 270 thousand dollars and it will take up to 6 months for them to be installed. A colorado Public Utilities commisioner asked the staff to report back every 30 days on the progess of fixing this crossing other commisioners disagreed on these monthly reports saying the staff doenst have the capability to do this. Denver Police Arrested adams county sheriffs deputy dean dominguez after a domestic dispute. It happened at his home near 33rd and oneida on august 10th. In Court Filings from monday, dominguez says his wife attacked him and then fell. He filed for divorce and a restraining order as well. Police have arrested a man they say shot and killed an imam and his associate as they left a new monday night. Hes been charged with two counts of Second Degree murder and criminal posession of a weapon. Morel had been in custody since sunday night after he hit a bicyclist with his car. They found a gun that matched the one used in the murders. The arrest came on the same day as the funerals for the two victims.
