Jerimiah mazo is facing up to 60 years in prison for inappropriatly touching his students a judge sentenced him last year, but his victims parents are now sueing him and Clark County School district for what happend to their kids fox 5s Miguel Martinezvalle talked to the parents lawyer. Robert eglet, the lawyer representing these parents says their main reason for suing the district is to prevent this type of thing from happening to someone elses kids, they say what hurts the most about the abuse their kids suffered, is that the School District could have prevented it. After mazos sexual abuse charges from 2008 were dropped, Clark County School district transferred him Elementary School in north las vegas, parents feel they should have been warned about his past accusations, the School District should have conducted a private investigation on mazo, and he shouldnt have been allowed children. They have been which tells me they havent done anything, so in order to get them to change their behavior and make sure this doesnt else children in our community, its going to take a lawsuit like this involving money damages to get them to change their behavior. Eglet says theres no way of knowning how many children mazo abused, but he says parents of the victims who have come forward described their kids throwing tantrums in order to avoid going to school, being in bad moods on days they had to take his music
