The family who lives in that home is now staying at a hotel. The 17yearold victim of an tack on a septa trolley has surgery today at Childrens Hospital of philadelphia. This is the victim her name is shea. She suffered a broken nose an black eye in that attack on a septa trolley last week. It was all reported on cell phone video the suspect 40yearold damon oliver turn himself in to police wednesday. The victims mother says her daughter is encouraged by all the support shes received. New tonight, an email creates controversy on the mainline. Bryn mawr college is facing a fire storm on social media after it season an email to overweight students advertising a fitness program. Eyewitness News Reporter diana rocco tells us, some students called that email unethical. Reporter targeted for their weight, students at Bryn Mawr College were asked to enroll in a Weight Loss Program based on their body mass index. Health center used its records to identify students with hire bmisms and in email told them they qualified for a special health and wellness program. They could enroll for physical education credits. It includes counseling, nutrition advice, Group Support an personalized fitness plan. Junior gentlemen set graves says some of her friends got the email. They didnt see themselves as being overweight. So the fact that Health Center was targeting them and telling them that they are put their selfesteem down. Neighboring Swarthmore College high highlighted the email titled give a hoot in their school paper the phoenix. Students took to facebook expressing their concern and outrage. I was never would have expect expected how your body can actually react to metals. Reporter the only solution new implants with no nickel in them. For that she turned to dr. Jeffrey wed ridge at the hospital for special surgery in new york. He did one knee at a time and quickly saw improve many. It was a remarkable turn around from how she started. Very impressive. Reporter could it have all been avoid . He says there is one way to predict a possible allergic reaction. Patients that come in and say they have allergy to costume jewelry, earrings and bracelets and they get rashes those sorts of patients usually are allergic and well avoid using nickel or chromium cobalt implants in this patient ross roars diane was never asked about metal allergy before her original surgery and most patients arent. Heres why. Even one in five people are allergic to nickel not everyone will have a reaction to an implant. So these metal tests arent required before surgery. But experts say, its a good idea for patients to did you say allergies before an operation. I know im a rare case. But i know theres other people out there that must be suffering the way i did.
