Interviewing the trains crew and passengers. Take a look at the video. We do know how fast this train was traveling before the accident. It was speeding down these tracks at the twice the limit. Ntsb says train was traveling at 106 miles an hour coming in the sharp curve in the track. They say train engineer applied emergency break moments before the derailment but that only slowed the trains slightly. Limit here is just 50 miles an hour. Trains black box and front mounted camera has been recovered and they hope those provide vital clues but the big question remain, what was the engineer doing and why was he going so fast. We plan to interview the train crew and a other personnel. We would like to interview passengers of the train. We will be conducting a site distance test. We will be testing the signal system the train control signals. We will be testing the braking system and Detailed Analysis instead of the cursory analysis that i mentioned earlier, off the recorders, we will be doing a very detailed, down load and an assist of those reporters. Our mission is to find out in the only what happened but why it happened, so that we can prevent it from happening again. That is really what were here for. Reporter of course, ntsw officials want to talk to the trains engineer but they want to give him a couple days to recover. This accident has killed seven people and injured more than 200. The train was traveling more than twice the the speed limit when it ran in the sharp curve tuesday night. The ntsb wants to talk to that engineer. Nicole brewer joins us with more on the investigation. A a lot of people have questions. Reporter this investigation is certainly ongoing. We dont know the cause of what happened with that amtrak train but we do know, ukee and erika, who was behind control when it flew off the tracks. Identified as brandon bostian. It says he began in july of 2006 as a passenger conductor and then began work as an engineer in december of 2010. The just hours after that crash the three twoyear old from new york changed his profile picture to a black square, you can see it on your screen there in an effort to shield his identity. We do know he was treated add the hospital and released at whiz point he gave an initial statement to police and voluntarily provided a blood sample. At this point he a has not spoken directly to the ntsb but officials chairman says they are not rushing to judgment despite harsh word from mayor michael nutter. A person has gone through a very traumatic event and we want to give him a opportunity to recover for a day or so before we interview him but that is a certain high priority for us. Clearly it was reckless in terms of the the the driving by the engineer. There is no way in the world that he should have have been going that fast. The train was traveling about 106 miles per hour, about double the recommended speed around that frankford junction curve the ntsb say bostian did apply fully mergecy breaks just moments before that train derailed. In addition to speed ntsb is looking at the condition of the track and train signals of course and human performance. Bostian has hired an attorney but definitely strong word from mayor nutter. Reporter erika and ukee, that is right good morning. Temple university called in extra staff to care for more than 50 people brought here from that derailment yesterday. Now more than two dozen have been released at this time, the rest are still inside recovering and we are learning more about their recovery as well as those seven people who lost their lives. Same thing for your traveling of the market frankford line due you to increased volume and they are making all stops. Also if you were an amtrak commuter and you have a ticket, new jersey river line and a few of the new Jersey Transit buses as well as patco line are all cross honoring tickets, so you definitely do have some options, for commuting but do i want to caution you if you do plan to jump in your vehicle and head to new york or head to trenton we have been seeing increased volume on the new jersey turnpike.
